As a research project for mapping the determinants of effective leadership at commanders of combat units a qualitative questionnaire is suggested, consisting of open questions and assigned to the soldiers of combat units of land forces. The possibility of practical use of acquired knowledge is also outlined. Keywords: theory of leadership, leader's personality, leader's activity, follower, professional army, combat units
