Comparison of cattle and horse behaviour and impact on grazing vegetation in a selected area
TESÁRKOVÁ, Marie
Pasture is an integral part of suckler cattle farming and is an equally important part of horse breeding. Pasture also has an impact on landscape appearance, biodiversity and water retention. The aim of this bachelor's thesis is to compare the impact of cattle and horse grazing on pasture and to assess the status of pasture and horses in the selected area. This thesis is divided into two parts (theoretical and practical). The theoretical part deals with the use of TTP by grazing, factors influencing the species composition of grassland, the effects of grazing on grazing vegetation, differences in grazing between cattle and horses, the effect of cattle and horse grazing on the soil, cattle and horse behaviour, pasture equipment, pasture treatments, elimination of vegetation damage, grazing and the effect of grazing on biodiversity. The practical part deals with the comparison of cattle (4 pastures) and horse (2 pastures) pastures in terms of species composition, pasture load and forage yield. Furthermore, the application of the sown mixture and the evaluation of the ethological activities of cattle (9 cows, 8 calves and 1 Aberdeen angus bull) and horses (2 horses).

Porovnání obtížnosti porodů u různých plemen skotu ve vybraném chovu
Kozlová, Eliška
This bachelor thesis examines the issue of difficult calving depending on breed affiliation and utility type. This work summarizes three basic breeds of different utility types that are bred in the Czech Republic. Furthermore, the work deals with the description of estrous cycle, methods of insemination, the period of gestation and the subsequent parturition. During parturition, emphasis is mainly placed on its progress. Therefore, the work also deals with internal and external factors. These factors aren’t always controllable, but some of them can be influenced by keeper or directly by breeding. Early detection of dead fetus is also important for calving. Whether the calving is assisted and whether any assistance is performed in an appropriate way has a relatively large influence on the course of calving itself. Depending on the extend to which assistance was required, the overall course of the birth is also evaluated. In this work was evaluated the calving process in Czech Fleckvieh and Charolais breeding. Both breeds were kept in the company ZEAS Lysice a.s., which is located in the South Moravian region. The results of the calving process were compared according to breed, year of calving and whether they were first-calf or older cows. The analysis of the data showed a significantly high incidence of the desired calving process in the Charolais breed, up to 99,28 %. Czech Fleckvieh showed a higher incidence of unwanted calving, which was 1,72 %. It also has been proven that older cows calving process was better than heifers. In the analysis of the year of calving, its influence on the course of calving wasn’t proven.
Analýza reprodukčních ukazatelů plemene limousine ve vybraném chovu
Neubauerová, Ester
The aim of the bachelor thesis was to evaluate the reproductive indicators of the limousine breed in the selected breeding. For this purpose, monitoring and data collection was carried out in the period of 2021 and 2022. Subsequently, an analysis of selected reproductive indicators was carried out, which mainly included the percentage of conception (%), gross and net birth natality (%). Using the results, it was possible to evaluate the fertilization ability of breeding bulls that were used as part of natural breeding in breeding. In each year, all cows were divided into 3 herds and a breeding bull was then placed in each herd. As part of the monitoring, a lower percentage of pregnancy on average was found in a specific breeding for all monitored cows, namely in 2021 and 2022 (77.8% and 55.3%). This lower conception rate also resulted in a lower percentage of gross and net birth natality (74.1% and 51.8%). However, when looking at specific herds, significant differences can be seen with regard to the breeding bull used. As for the gender representation of calves born, in both years bulls prevailed over heifers.
Herpesvirové infekce zvířat
Křižánková, Petra
This bachelor's thesis deals with important types of herpesvirus diseases in the main species of farm animals as well as in dogs and cats. It individually characterizes selected infections caused by these viruses in cattle, carp, horses, pigs, dogs, and cats. The thesis describes etiology, pathogenesis, treatment and prevention. Furthermore, there is gived the status of occurrence of individual diseases in the Czech Republic. At the end of the thesis, is described case of herpesvirus diseases of German sheperd female.
Význam KU ve vztahu k produkčním a reprodukčním ukazatelům a zdraví dojného skotu v ČR
Brynda, Jiří
The bachelor's thesis deals with the description of the Utility Control of Holstein Cattle. The methodology of sample collection up to individual results is described in the thesis. Furthermore, the thesis demonstrates the statistical processing of data from Utility Control using commercial programs and the ČMSCH program. The main factors that the thesis follows in evaluating the Utility Control of cattle include production, reproduction, and cattle health. The Utility Control in dairy cattle monitors the performance of individual cows and the overall efficiency of breeding, with the aim of improving the health and performance of cows and increasing milk production. Various factors are monitored during the Utility Control, such as the amount and quality of milk produced, cow health, reproductive performance, and overall cow condition. Results are compared with expected outcomes and with results from other farms. The goal of Utility Control is to improve breeding efficiency and maximize profits from milk production. Utility Control also helps to identify potential health problems in cows and allows for timely intervention, which can reduce veterinary care costs and decrease the risk of cow mortality. The aim of the thesis was to present and clarify topics related to Utility Control, describe individual determining components, and describe processed results of the commercial programs of Milkprogres s.r.o and VVS Verměřovice s.r.o.
Vliv selenu a vitamínu E na kvalitu masa vykrmovaných býků
Navrátilová, Eliška
A control and an experimental group of bulls were set up for the experiment. The bulls were fed the same total mixed ration. The experimental group had this total mixed ration by the addition of vitamin E and selenium. The whole experiment lasted for 90 days. The bulls were weighed at monthly intervals. At the end of the experiment, the bulls were slaughtered at the slaughterhouse. Samples were taken from the muscle, which were wrapped and stored in a refrigerator. Individual analyses were conducted for a total of 4 weeks, from week 0 to week 4 of maturation. Analysis for selenium content and sensory properties of the meat was carried out at the beginning and at the end of maturation. The result showed that the addition of selenium and vitamin E to the total mixed ration did not affect weight and gain. The selenium content in the meat of the experimental group was higher and increased during maturation, while that of the control group was lower and gradually decreased. As the selenium content of the meat increased, the sensory parameters evaluated also improved, whereas the results of the control group were similar at weeks 1 and 4 of maturation.
