Phrasal verbs in Italian and their Czech counterparts in the parallel corpus InterCorp
GABRIŠKOVÁ, Denisa
My diploma thesis deals with phrasal verbs in Italian (it. verbi sintagmatici), such as andare via, andare su, buttare via, mandare gi? etc. In the first part of the thesis I will describe the disposition of these complex verbs theoretically with help of secondary literature. After that I´ll explain their position in current Italian language, especially their frequency of use on the basis of dictionaries and corpuses. The second, practical part is the core of this thesis. The aim of this work is to search Czech opposites of the selected sample of the Italian phrasal verbs. I put emphasis on their possible meanings. The thesis includes the dictionary with meanings of phrasal verbs.
Phrasal verbs in Spanish
MORENO DIEZ, Pilar
The present work focuses on the analysis of the Spanish particle-verbs (Verbos Sintagmáticos) oriented towards the teaching of Spanish as a foreign language. The most problematic aspects about this category have been observed in terms of their use and behaviour in the semantic, syntactic and phonological levels of the language. For this, we have based on the studies on Italian VS and English phrasal verbs (more developed theoretically). The purpose of this study has been to offer a clear basis that will serve for future research ?both theoretical and practice?, to elaborate a proposal of definition based on real data extracted from different corpus of Spanish, and to suggest a basic sample of didactic material that facilitates the introduction in the classrooms of Spanish as a second language content related to this type of verbs.

Pelán, Štěpán ; Grmela, Josef (advisor) ; Ženíšek, Jakub (referee)
This BA thesis is focused on the translation of two short stories by V.S. Pritchett and their stylistic analysis. The thesis consists of the practical and the teoretical part. The outcome of the former is the side-by-side translation. The latter lays emphasis on differences between Czech and English in terms of morpohology, lexicology and syntax and various problems and the peculiarities one might come across while translating a longer text.
Semantic analysis of Swedish phrasal verbs with consideration of differences between prepositions and adverbs
Šípková, Jitka ; Štajnerová, Petra (advisor) ; Hartlová, Dagmar (referee)
(anglicky): In my thesis I analyze how Swedish verbal particles change semantics of the verb. Mainly I compare different types of verbal particles: bound and free particles, prepositional and adverbial particles. I observe how meaning of the verb + particle changes from local to metaphorical and further to lexicalized and grammaticalized meaning. Theoretical observations are based on general linguistics, particularly on premises of functional approaches. In the practical part of the thesis I analyze behavior of particles ut and av on a corpus sample. In the final part I compare conclusions made based on the literature with analysis of the language sample. The results show that most often verb + particle are lexicalized phrases. That applies even in cases, when the particle decides whether the action expressed by the verb has reached its end or not, which I considered partially grammaticalized in the theoretical part. Many of the lexicalized particle verbs have transparent meaning, which is possible to duplicate based on analogy. Such particle verbs with metaphorical, transparent meaning are source for great variability in the system of Swedish particle verbs. In the final part of the thesis I show parallels between Swedish verb particles and Czech verbal prefixes. These differ mainly in that the...
