Onomasiological Analysis of English Bahuvrihi Compounds

The topic of this thesis is Onomasiological Analysis of English Bahuvrihi Compounds. In this thesis it is explained what bahuvrihi compounds are, and their main properties are described. Subsequently, it is explained what the branch of linguistics known as onomasiology is concerned with. Furthermore, in this thesis it is observed to what concrete types of characteristics of human or non-human entities bahuvrihi compounds may draw attention. It is also observed what morphological schemas bahuvrihi compounds may follow, depending on the type of a characteristic of human or non-human entities to which they are meant to bring attention. Also, it is observed how bahuvrihi compounds may be created so that they would draw attention to those types of characteristics. Each of the manners in which bahuvrihi compounds may be created so that they would draw attention to any of the given types of characteristics is shown on concrete already existent bahuvrihi compounds.
Neologisms in social networks

The presented master´s thesis is focused on the analysis of neologisms that can be found in social networks. The aim of this thesis is to analyse the origin of neologisms with respect to their formal adaptation and onomasiological aspects primarily. The thesis consists of theoretical chapters dealing with neology and onomasiology as well as processes of formal and phonological adaptation. The theoretical knowledge is later applied in the practical part which is comprised of the qualitative and quantitative analysis of formal and onomasiological aspects found in concrete neologisms. The results of such analyses are stated both in the final summary and in the conclusion of this master´s thesis which is followed by Spanish resumé. The master´s thesis is written in Czech.
Linguistic analysis of names of herbs in English and Spanish

The subject of this Bachelor's Thesis is a linguistic analysis of the names of herbs in Czech and Spanish. It's focused on the word-forming methods and the motivation of creating these naming units. It provides the reader with a presentation of many common names of several herbs, in which are express various features, using a metaphor. These were also created by using various word-forming methods. This thesis is composed of two main parts. In the theoretical part there is described the process of formation of new naming units and each of the word-forming methods, which both of the languages have. The second and analytical part is focused on the analysis of concrete common names of herbs. The goal of the study is to create a sufficient sample of these names, in order to observe certain tendencies and probabilities in the formation of new names of the herbs and also differences in these processes in both of these languages.
Names of contemporary professions in healthcare

The presented thesis describes the typology of current names of professions in healthcare in terms of onomasiology and structural-morphology. The starting point of the thesis is the existing professional linguistic description of naming structures implemented as one-word names and nominal collocations. The language material consists of the names of professions in healthcare that are currently used. The names are classified in terms of word-formation, lexical semantics and the origin of words.
