Intenzive Urban Housing Brno
Giacintová, Sylva ; Urbášková,, Hana (referee) ; Menšíková, Naděžda (advisor)
The subject of this thesis is the architectural study of revitalization of a city block and its spatial structure. Selected part of city was solved already in previous project that preceded own thesis. Merger proposal will allow a larger number of different functions within the complex, which will ensure the residents to various forms of housing, services and employment and leisure activities. The studied area is located in the city of Brno-Veveří. Plan shape of the object based on the area in which the three parties connected to the access road. Mass and spatial design respects the surrounding buildings and uses the sidewalks along the whole of the area. The matrix of the object is divided by two axes passing through the object into three blocks linked by a courtyard. This creates a square with a water surface with the possibility of recreation and sitting under the trees. The shape of these three blocks is further formed in several height terraced layers. Do terraces are placed in the atrium and individual residential and office units have large windows and balcony available. This solution brings natural light into the interior while allowing illumination of the courtyard and surrounding objects within the chosen area. This spatial structure is horizontally divided by function. There are proposed underground public garage, arcade with shops, services, administration and housing. The exterior of the building is designed by combining brick facades and white plaster, which works like optically lighter impression of the building.

Salva, Martin ; Ing.arch.Pavel Šimeček (referee) ; Menšíková, Naděžda (advisor)
The project deals with completion a REC block buildings in Brno – Zábrdovice, defined by local roads. For the design of mass was used a porosity principle, when the site was covered with maximum static mass cutted by dynymic communication-optimal connections through the object. Object has five floors and a basement with garages and technical facilities. In the 1st floor and the part of 2nd floor are business premises, on the 2nd and 3rd level are administrative premises. On the part of a 3rd floor and in 4NP and 5th floor there are apartments. The foundations of an object is the reinforced concrete slab, the constuction systém is formed by reinforced-concrete columns with brick walls. Ceilings and staircases are monolithic reinforced concrete. Object is topped by a flat roof, part of the roof is greened.

The aim of this Master thesis was to create urban structure situated in the particular resident area of Brno city centre. The solution offers mixing of different functions (living, shopping, workshops, offices, restaurant, other services and working possibilites) on a relative small built up area. This is realized with a help of two main principes/multiplicity and verticality. The efective use of the area was achieved with dividing the space to the „calm“areas and „busy“ areas. Calm areas are a park in courtyard and the roof gardens, busy area is a new diagonál street with shops, restaurant, fastfood and galery. The objects have different height, the highest one is 12 floors tall. In the first one are different functions as kindergarten, shops, administrative, gallery, insurance, coffee, in the second one there is partly administrative and infant school. Flats and studios are designed from the second floor to the 11 floor. The 12th floor offers a coffeebar with a view of Brno dominants. There is parking and technical device space in the two underground floors. The construction system is reinforced concrete monolitic skelet with girders, the horizontal constructions are reinforced monolitic plates. The buildings are founded on reinforced concrete flaps.

The theme of my disseration is an architecture study of multifunctional building which is surrounded by the streets Vranovská, Cejl and Jana Svobody and by the embankment of the river Svitava. Objective of the study was to design a building that would utilized the space of the plot effectively. The result of design is the construction which is characterized for its inner semi-public atrium space with link to the bank of Svitava and street Jana Svobody. It is five-storey house. In the first two stories there are different feature amenities (kindergarden, office building, restaurant, café, media library, gallery and other shops), and senior house. In the third floor and above there are designed flats for living. The part of the living area was also creating of new kind of housing called co-housing. The building has a basement, which is mostly for parking. The construction of the building is from monolithic reinforced concrete frame, horizontal structure consists of beamless slabs. Due to the huge area of the building, the facade is designed from the different kinds of materials: white plaster, light gray sheet metal, anthracite metail mesh and glass fiber.

City House – Mixet Use Architecture

The territory lies in the City of Brno, in the urban district of Zábrdovice. From the east it is demarcated by the Svitava River, from the south by the Cejl Street, and from the west by the Jan Svoboda Street. Its area is approximately 18,790 m2. From the standpoint of urban planning¸ the intensive house is a separate city block, which is, nevertheless, open in the eastern direction towards the Svitava River, thus communicating with the embankment. In the other direction there is both private and semi-private space inside the block as a relaxation green “garden” in several levels. The mass of the object links up in the prolonged line with the existing neighbouring blocks and thus respects the integrity of the territory. Intensive use of the territory consists in the achievement of high density of built-up area, and at the same time preserving the surroundings of quality for life and habitation. Functions are mixed here and a city of short distances is created here with nearly excluded traffic. In order to achieve such intensity, space urbanism is employed. The principle consists in a simple linear form of masses respecting the shape of the lot, which is vivified with an ellipsoid located in the courtyard, which is an accent towards the linear form. The ellipsoid serves as a small cultural and exhibition centre, at the same time connecting all the arms of the defining block and bringing daylight to the first floor. The block is open in the direction to the river and its half-public space is connected with the embankment with a staircase and verdure. Verdure is also made use of on the roofs. The defining mass is perforated, thus creating covered terraces. The principal architectonic intention was to create an integrated structure, where a significant role is played by the introduction of nature and polyfunctionality to the whole territory, thus increasing its attractivity. From the dispositional perspective the individual functions interpenetrate at al
