Fenomenom of the Living History in Bohemia
Hartvich, Ondřej ; Štěpánová, Irena (advisor) ; Krupková, Jaroslava (referee)
This thesis explores in the Czech Republic little explored phenomenon of living history. The motivation for this topic is the author's long-standing interest in this issue and his active participation in similar activities. The thesis aims to characterize the concept of living history and specify this kind of leisure time activity participated by a part of the population in the Czech Republic. It also examines the question of whether living history is a subculture. Therefore, it also describes the concept of subculture through according literature. It also seeks to map or outline and present some living history associations as a sample of the phenomenon based on research. Field research, participant observation, conducted interviews among the members, spectator and active participation in the events and presentations organized by them, and web analytics are used for this. The first chapter deals with the clarification of the concept of experimental archaeology and living history, since the difference between them is essential. Therefore, it describes the contents of experimental archaeology as one of the methods of archaeology and living history as a central theme of the research and the thesis. In the next part, LARP and historical fencing are introduced to illustrate the genesis of the...
Use-wear Analysis of Bone Industry: Experiment and Analysis of Bone Ice Skates
Smidovčinová, Nikola ; Hroníková, Linda (advisor) ; Tomsová, Julie (referee)
For a long time, research of bone industry in archeology was disorganized and mostly limited for classification according to the tools' shape, from which the function was deduced. This method was frequently imprecise and complicated for bone artifacts as well as for chipped stone artifacts. In the last few decades, scientists have tried to apply to the bone industry microwear analysis, which was then successfully applied to the chipped industry. Microwear analysis can help us recognize usewear traces and give information about the manufacturing and functioning of the tools. Using microscopes can prove which artifacts were manufactured by humans and which were simply broken in order to get marrow, and which were bitten by predators. The goal of this research is to expose the functions of tools and artifacts, which are previously unclear, by use of experimental archeology and use-wear analysis, primarily for artefacts known as bone skates (or bone ice skates), which are classified only according to their shape (and often incorrectly). In many foreign countries, the method and application of microwear analysis is increasingly popular. However, in the Czech Republic, it is largely overlooked. Therefore, we would like to extend the sample of possible contact materials and contribute to the progress of...

NOVOTNÁ, Tereza
The thesis is about teaching fencing from the past to the present times. It shows the developing of the first forms of fight and its change to a free time activity. It also shows the roots and functioning of some other free time activities which were derived from fencing. The next part of the thesis presents a few groups dedicated to the living history, historical fencing and experimental archeology in the Czech Republic and abroad. Last part of the thesis shows some possible usage of principles and methods of free time pedagogy in these free time activities as prevention of the sociological and pathological phenomenoms that endanger teenagers.
Archaeological parks and archaeological open-air museum in the Czech republic
Bražina, Jan ; Novák, Zdeněk (advisor) ; Tyslová, Irena (referee)
The way of presenting of both tangible and intangible cultural heritage has undergone a dramatic change during the last century. It has shifted from the simple displaying of inanimated artefacts towards an interactive link between the artefact and the visitor. Moreover, cultural heritage exhibitions are no more a matter exclusive for traditional museums. Archaeological open-air museums as well as archeological parks became a very suitable platform for presenting cultural heritage as they combine several approaches: experimental archaelogy, reconstruction and living history. Besides this effective didactics are these institutions significant in supporting the tourist industry as well. The aim of this work is to analyze both the educational and economic potencial of these institutions situated in the Czech republic. Some of the possible management risks are briefly mentioned in the end.
