Magnetic identification and characterization of Andosols in the Czech Republic
Rainer, Sabina ; Grison, Hana (advisor) ; Borůvka, Luboš (referee)
The aim of the thesis is the identification and characterization of soils with andic properties using the magnetic methods. Investigated soil is located in the Velký Roudný in the Nízký Jeseník mountain. This is the only known area with Andosols on the territory of the Czech Republic. Magnetic measurements will be performed both in the field and in the laboratory, and will be accomplished by geochemical analyses necessary for accurate pedological characterisation. Magnetic data will be interpreted in termagnetická susceptibilita of the geological and environmental conditions. The results will be compared with the properties of the Andosols from the French Massif Central.

Application of environmental magnetic techniques in Quaternary sediment study
Žatecká, Michaela ; Kadlec, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Kletetschka, Günther (referee)
5 ABSTRACT: The Bachelor Thesis presents basic principles of the environmental magnetic methods and their applications in paleoenvironmental reconstructions from Quaternary sedimentary archives. Description of mineral and rock magnetic principles follows after an introductory sketch of historical development of the environmental magnetic topic. Next part of the thesis is focused on explanation of basic principles of the environmental magnetic methods and application magnetic history of the sedimentary rocks: namely different kinds of magnetic susceptibility, anisotropy of magnetic susceptibility, remanent magnetization and hysteretic parameters of the sediments. Application of the environmental magnetic methods enables interpretation of depositional and/or post- depositional history (e.g., directions of wind or water currents transporting clastic sediments) or intensity of geochemical weathering (connected with pedogenesis) which is directly controlled by climatic conditions and their changes. Examples of application of the environmental magnetic methods in paleoenvironmental research of the deep ocean, lacustrine and eolian natural archives are described in the final part of the thesis. Key words: environmental magnetism, paleoenvironmental reconstruction, sedimentary archives, Quaternary

Sborník abstrakt z 10. Zámecké konference o nových trendech v geomagnetismu, paleomagnetismu, magnetismu hornin a magnetismu životniho prostředí
The jubilee 10th of the series of "Biennial Castle Meetings", organised jointly by Geophysical Institute of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic and Geophysical Institute of the Slovak Academy of Sciences, is to follow the tradition of the previous nine meetings held each other year since 1988, and thus to promote the information exchange on fresh results in palaeomagnetism, environmental magnetism and physical principles of rock magnetism. Contributions dealing with rock magnetism and its applications in paleomagnetism, archeomagnetism, magnetostratigraphy or environmental magnetism.
