The paper PDF Document Format Features for Document Management and Distribution describes the core of the PDF format for support of the portable documents. If you've heard about PDF or even if you use it already but you don't have a clear understanding what PDF means this paper is for you. The paper provides explanation of frequently used terms used in the DTP, prepress processes and print industry. You'll find out what happened before PDF format was introduced, what the original expectations of the format were and who was the visionary and co-founder of Adobe corporation behind the idea. There are the two main technologies -- Postscript and XML described which are core to the PDF format.
