The bachelor's thesis deals with the topic of nature in the works of Chilean poet, a laureate of Nobel Prize in Literature, Gabriela Mistral. The first chapter briefly introduces the poet and her life. The next chapter depicts the period of modernism and post-modernism in Latin America, which Gabriela Mistral is associated with, followed by an overview of all of her poetry collections to provide an outline of her work. After that comes a selection of poems, which are categorized on the basis of the particular motifs of nature that appear in them. The aim of this work is to give an image of nature in Gabriela Mistral's poems and describe her relationship with it by interpreting several selected poems and taking into consideration the author's life as well as the period and environment. The work is based on the complete edition of Mistral's original works, the Czech edition of some poems, biographies, and theoretical studies on Literature and nature.
