Menclová, Tereza ; Láb, Filip (advisor) ; Ždimera, Jan (referee)
This bachelor thesis is concerned with the media depiction of so-called Arab Spring, especially with the revolution in Egypt in 2011. The main goal is to analyze photographic materials published in Mladá fronta DNES and Lidové noviny in connection with the phenomenon of citizen journalism. The first part of this work follows both the historical and present situation of citizen journalism and also the development in photojournalism. It also provides some concrete information about revolutions in different Arab states during 2011. The second practical part consists of a visual analysis of pictures published in Czech newspapers Mladá fronta DNES and Lidové noviny. This analysis is followed by a comparison of ways in which these newspapers present news and visual stories. The case study method of research accompanies the qualitative research methodology. The main goal is to prove that the citizen journalism penetrates even the Czech media culture.
