Needs of Informal Caregivers of People with Alzheimer's Disease in the ORP Písek
RÉDLOVÁ, Žaneta
The meaning of informal care grows with regard to the demographic changes in the society and the role of these caregivers is irreplaceable within the system of long-term care. The diploma thesis reflects the current situation in this area with the objective of mapping out the needs of informal caregivers of people with Alzheimer's Disease in the ORP Písek. The theoretical part of this diploma thesis is supported by a number of surveys that bring an interesting perspective to different areas of domestic care with regard to current trends in senior patient care. Attention is also focused on the characteristics of Alzheimer´s and on the mentioned municipalities with extended powers. To reach the objective, a qualitative research strategy was chosen, using semi-structured interviews with eight informal caretakers who were taking care of individuals suffering from Alzheimer´s in the chosen area. With regard to the given area, also the range of shared care and availability of formal services from the perspective of caregivers themselves, were the object of research. Data analysis was carried out using grounded theory mehtod and the result of axial coding is a paradigmatic model focused around central category - the needs of the informal caregivers. The research has proven that the needs of informal caregivres are changeable depending on the phase of Alzheimer´s disease. Meanwhile in the beginning needs of informative character arise, later they modify due to financial and time pressure. At the same time, research has proven a disproportionate offer of services in the ORP Písek and this fact is reflected in the quality of support network. Informal caregivers need to know that they are not alone in this and that there is an individual or a service that might substitute them in case they are absent.

The use of coordinated rehabilitation in a home with special regime
RATHOVÁ, Lucie
The aim of this diploma thesis is to identify options of how to use the systém of coordinated rehabilitation in a home with a special regime. To obtain information I used qualitative research methodology. Semi-standardized interviews served as the research tool. These interviews were carried out with 10 employees of a home with a special regime run by the City Institute of Social Services in Strakonice. The thesis is divided into a theoretical and a practical part. The theoretical part of the diploma thesis focuses on coordinated rehabilitation as a whole, further, it discusses the individual parts of coordinated rehabilitation. Other chapters describe the most frequent client diagnoses within the Home with a special regime, and finally the standards of social service quality are mentioned. The main research question: What are the options of using coordinated rehabilitation in a home with a special regime? Partial research question: Are employees informed about the options of coordinated rehabilitation? For the purposes of the interview I used questions focused on general identification data, questions focusing on the importance of coordinated rehabilitation, multidisciplinary team. Further, I asked about the individual components of coordinated rehabilitation, and finally, how individual planning is carried out. The result of this diploma thesis is a finding that individual components of coordinated rehabilitation are not fully mutually connected. It would be useful to provide employees with suitable courses to complete their missing knowledge. This diploma thesis might serve as a tool for improving care in the Home with a special regime, it might contribute to the Home with a special regime´s employer awareness of coordnated rehabilitiation, and connect it with practice.
Histological examination of the brain for Alzheimer´s disease
HAVELKOVÁ, Kristýna
In my bachelor thesis I deal with histological examination of the brain for the Alzheimer´s disease. I conducted the research at the Department of pathology at the hospital in Jindřichův Hradec. The thesis is divided into two parts theoretical and practical part. In the theoretical part I deal with this, what is actually histology and histological examination, histological structure of the nervous system and especially the brain. I also deal with Alzheimer´s disease, its description, types, symptoms, therapy and prevention. I also mention the Czech Alzheimer Society and myths about Alzheimer´s disease. At the end of the theoretical part, I give the examples of other dementias. In the practical part I performed the histological examination of the brain using methods of Impregnation of nerve fibers by Palmgren and Proof of senile druses by A. v. Braunmühl on frozen sections. These two methods serve to stain the nerve structures (including the druses which are typical for Alzheimer´s disease) which can confirm or deny this disease. I also did a basic staining with Hematoxylin-eosin. This staining was preceded by the processing of biological material such as fixation, trimming (with scalpel), packing, embedding in paraffin, slicing and stretching of the preparation on the slide glass. After staining, the preparation was mounted under the cover glass and then we performed evaluation using a microscope. The aim of my bachelor thesis was to write a research on a given topic, to describe the processing of the brain in the histological laboratory, to perform methods that are typical for Alzheimer´s disease for deceased persons, to evaluate and compare the preparations of the healthy and diseased brain.

Intergenerational opinions on dementia problematics
ŠVAŘÍČKOVÁ, Lenka
In my thesis I have focused on the issues of dementias, in particular on views and knowledge in different age groups. Dementias belong among frequent diseaes in the old age; however in my opinion this issue is very little discussed. In my thesis I have attempted to determine the knowledge and experience in three age groups (the youth until the age of 25, middle age until the age of 45 and pre-senior age, that is persons older than 50 years of age). It has been of particular concern to me if knowledge and awareness if the issue are linked to increasing age. The thesis consists of a theoretical and a practical part. In the theoretical part, I focus on the issues of dementias, from a social point of view in particular: from health field I have attempted to choose the most important information, which is necessary to understand the issue and which should also be mastered by those who care for persons suffering from the disease. In the practical part, I have included transcripts of interview with respondents who answered my questions in connection with the disease. I have chosen a qualitative surfy, method of inquiry and semi-structured interview techniques to obtain the data. Three respondents agreed that I record the interviews and transcribe them in a verbatim manner. These interviews have been transcribed word-for-word including colloquial expressions that respondents used. Other respondents did not agree to record the interviews; their answers have been noted in writing only. From the acquired interviews I have found out that most of the respondents have essential knowledge however they often do not know particular answers or are uncertain of them. I have chosen a male and a female from each generation to represent views of both sexes. I have determined that the knowledge is not linked to age: all respondents displayed basic information about the disease; however it was those respondents knowing or caring for a person with dementia who were able to explain the information better. On the basis of the information I have obtained from the interviews I consider it to be a good idea not only for physicians, organizations (especial nursing homes) but also mass-media to arrange for spreading the important information among all generations.

Knowledge of the Family with Alzheimer´s Disease Patient about Communication Specifics
ČERNÁ, Irena
Alzheimer´s disease belongs to the most common forms of dementia. The occurence of this disease rises with increasing life expectancy of population. The more serious the disease is the lower and more difficult is the possibility of patients to communicate with other people. Close relatives usually bear this situation with difficulties. The nurse should both be involved in the treatment and education of patients´ families. The aim of this work was to find out if family members are informed on specifics concerning communication with the patients and are interested in getting more information. The first hypothesis was based on the fact that family members do not know how to communicate with their close relatives suffering from Alzheimer´s disease and the second hypothesis was that family members are interested in getting more information on mutual communication. Quantitative research methods such as questioning and questionnaires for collecting data were used to analyse the work. Ninety-six respondents were asked. All of them were family members of Alzheimer´s disease patients who have been accommodated in Prácheň sanatorium in Písek and in Loucký mlýn. All data collected were analysed and projected into graphs. As a result, the first hypothesis was rifuted and the second was proved. The conclusions of this work will be used for further education of family members of Alzheimer´s disease patients. It will be organised professional seminars in both sanatoria, in Písek and Loucký mlýn. This way I would like to contribute to better communication between patients and their families.
