Matoušek, Martin ; Joja, Marie (referee) ; Kratochvíl, Jan (advisor)
The Červený kopec area represents a strategic location for the further development of Brno. The immense potential of the site lies in its high attractiveness due to the proximity to greenery along the Svratka River and surrounding forests, panoramic views of Brno, and its location on the outskirts of the Staré Brno. Currently, the area is sparsely populated, yet plans for its development are becoming increasingly frequent. The first step towards new construction could be the newly built long-term care hospital on the site of the historic one. This project responds to the potential of this location and aims to capitalize on its lucrative attributes. This abstract analyzes the potential and possibilities for the development of Červený kopec and proposes strategies for the effective use of this key urban area in the context of Brno's development.

Skálová, Jana Vojtěška ; Joja, Marie (referee) ; Kratochvíl, Jan (advisor)
The aim of this bachelor‘s thesis is to design a residential complex on Red Hill in Brno. The design will take into account the trends of contemporary residential architecture and offer possible solutions to the current housing crisis. The site is located on the border of the densely built-up area of Štýřice and nature, and currently houses a garden colony. The design uses the form of cooperative housing, which is supported by a system of variable layouts of individual apartment buildings and villas. This gives future residents the opportunity to intervene in the construction and configure the house according to their own ideas. The houses utilize the sloping terrain by being embedded into the ground. The entire complex is connected by a park with a retention pond, a children‘s playground, a workout, a community garden, and a lookout tower. The residential function of the complex is complemented by a multifunctional building with a café and rental spaces. The design reflects the vision of future living based on flexible layouts, sustainability, and support for diversity.

This urban-planning study endeavors to create a suitable structure for the brick factory brownfield. The concept is based on the legacy of the area. It builds on the slopes and steep hills and preserves two building of the old factory, which aims to become the centre of the whole area. It is also important to mention the nearby National Landscape Heritage Červený Kopec, which would be connected via a forest-park to the recreational area of Mahenova stráň. The outline of this park creates a soft partition between the city and the park. The whole area is accessible by traffic from three access points, one of which is a newly constructed crossroad with traffic lights connected to the street Jihlavská. This proposal emphasizes the effectivity of the land use, traffic hierarchy, human scale, and the importance of pedestrian movement. The area is characterized by central design, with the ethos of the brick factory. It creates a cultural centre for the whole district and sets the way for new development or restructuralization towards a sustainable future for the city of Brno.

The subject of this master's thesis is to design a residential complex in Brno in a part Červený kopec. My design is placed on the platform, where once stood a Kohn's brickyard, one of the largest brickworks in Brno. The design tries to follow up not only the existing buildings, but the buildings that stood here during the period of greatest prosperity of the company. The right side of the houses follows the side panel installations and left sides of the border again the original brick. Houses are designed as simple blocks which are used in most of the different variants. Color solution is again inspired by the bricks. Part of houses and pavements is therefore in red.
