The Theme of the Other World in Douglas Adams´ series The Hitchhiker´s Guide to the Galaxy

This thesis deals with the interpretation and analysis of Adams' series The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (1979) with regard to crucial themes of journey and space as "the other" world. The theoretical introduction will be dedicated to reflection on the meaning of these themes within the science fiction genre. The analysis itself will focus on the particular motifs in Adams' work, the use of irony, the characteristics of the main characters and the function of the environment.
Representations of a Hero and Anti-hero in British Fantasy Literature

The author of this thesis Representation of the hero and the antihero in the British fantasy literature deals with the typology of characters within the genre. She focuses on the distinction between a hero and an antihero and discribes the characteristic features of their representation in the pieces written by British authors, including particularly the work of J. R. R. Tolkien, C. S. Lewis, J. K. Rowling, P. Pullman, N. Gaiman and T. Pratchett. The theoretical background is provided by the publication The Hero with a Thousand Faces by Joseph Campbell and a book titled The Archetypes and the Collective Unconscious. Gained pieces of information are confronted with the texts named above.
Nadpřirozené bytosti v knihách o Harry Potterovi a jejich srovnání s pohádkovými příběhy/Supernatural Creatures in the Harry Potter Series and Their Comparison with Fairy Tale Stories

This bachelor thesis deals with selected supernatural creatures of Harry Potter?s series. It is primarily focused on a dragon, basilisk, phoenix, unicorn, merpeople, werewolf, giant and wizard. Each of these creatures is depicted from author?s point of view at first, then it is compared with its original depiction and finally it draws a comparison between itself and its fairy tale?s portrayal. The emphasis is put on comprehension of the chosen creature?s main meaning, its role and functioning through the story. The aim of this thesis is to find identical elements or alternatively to show differences of inspirational sources.
Time and Space in Fantasy

This work focuses on the representation of the narrative categories of time and space in the fantasy literature's pieces. It delineates the sub-genres of fantasy and describes the particularities of the genre. The prominent pieces of the fantasy genre are used to demonstrate the established knowledge. There is a conclusion of the differences between the representation of the space-time facts in the fantasy genre and the other genres in the final part of the work.
The Tree in a Fanciful Landscape

Bachelor thesis in a fanciful landscape tree consists of theoretical and practical parts. The theoretical part deals with tree anchoring motif as a specific cultural and natural phenomenon. Further work is focused on characteristics of the landscape as a variable motif in art work in the context of the development of art. The text is complemented with the visual content of annex I. The practical part is a cycle of nine drawings made with artistic marker, documentation of the work is the part of the image annex II. and III.
The Newest Czech Fantasy Literature

This bachelor thesis deals with contemporary czech fantasy literature. In the first part, basic terms like "fantastics", "fantasy" etc will be explained. There is also a chapter about history of the fantasy genre in world and Czech literature. The second part of my paper is focused on authors whose work has began approximately in last twenty years. I also try to elaborate on individual authors' creative styles. Lastly, a special chapter on teenage authors, writing mostly for children and other teenagers, is included.
Developing Free Time Artistic Creativity in Children of Pre-school and Early-school Age (Art Project - Water)

The work is focused on the development of artistic creativity in free time of pre-school and early school children, using a visual project called water. The work is divided into two parts. A theoretical and a practical one. The theoretical part describes concepts such as creativity, artistic creativity, various aspects of creativity, creative personality characteristics, especially children´s one, and the overall creativity development and education. It also describes characteristic traits of pre-school and early school age, educational principles, planning and preparation for art activities. The last chapter outlines the phenomenon of leisure, particularly children´s leisure, leisure time teacher's personality and the importance of playing, recreational and game activities for children. The practical part of the thesis deals with different art activities that I realized with children during the art project. Each activity outline consists of a goal, motivation, aids, its process description, conclusion and feedback. The games are completed with movement activities as well.
Illustrations for Children in a view of Children Younger School Age within the Scope of the Leisure Time Education

This thesis is concerned with the illustration for children and its visual perception of the younger school age children in terms of Leisure time education. There are two parts in my thesis, a practical part and a theoretical part. The theoretical part describes the Younger School Age from a view of the Behavioural Psychology and also of the factor participating in an Education and Leisure time education of children. The thesis also includes the illustration, introduced as a part of Art, its historical evolution and an evolution of the Czech Illustration for children. There is also mentioned a personality of the illustrator and his creative language in this part, and moreover there is an introduction of popular illustrators of the 20th century and their production for children. The practical part is focusing on a realization of the project. It is divided in two main parts. The first part is formed by activities related to the Literature and Illustrations for children, being a base for the qualitative research. The second part is devoted to the children perception of single areas relating to the Illustration and its processing by the interviews made with children.
Developing creativity in Montessori preschool class

The aim of this work is to point out the possibilities of developing creativity in a preschool classroom, which works by the philosophy of Montessori pedagogy that is sometimes critisised as too strict and not offering enough space for creativity and fantasy. The theoretical part will content characterisation of creativity and pedagogy of Maria Montessori, concept of creativity as perceived by Maria Montessori, art exploitation for developing creativity and it´s assertion in Montesori classroom. Practical part is devoted to a research focused on eliciting the levels of children´s creative abilities in Montessori classrooms and those in traditional classrooms and their comparison. I am completing this work by choice of activities which evolve creativity and can be applied in Montessori classroom.
The Fantastic Modificationes of the Realism in the Czech Short Storry on the Break of the 19th And 20th Century

In this final work we compare fantastic forms of realistic literature in the little formations from the break of the 19th and 20th century. We look for specifics of fantastic in selected texts. By the analysis of mysterious and realistic motives we aim to show the common roots of fantastic literature and its diversity. In the first part we analyse the tales of Karel Švanda ze Semčic and compare the poetics of Švanda and E. T. A. Hoffmann, an important German romantic writer of fantastic proses. In the second part we analyse the texts of Jakub Arbes, Julius Zeyer, Růžena Svobodová and Jiří Karásek. Particularly, we focus on how the mysterious and realistic motives are realized in these texts. Finally, we compare all the texts and observe how do they follow the tradition of romantic fantastic and which other kindes of literature we can distinguish there. We use the method of narratological analysis, the basic literature is Narrative Fiction: Contemporary Poetics of Shlomith Rimmon-Kenan.
