The peat quality and vegetation composition depending on land use
LEŠTINOVÁ, Iveta
Borkovická blata (moors) represent the largen bog in Třeboň Basin Area. Previously, there was mined pea tuntil 1979. The best preserved part of the moors was declared aprotected area in 1980. The mining impacted not only them so their immediate surroundings and landscape use. The work deals with the management of the surrounding areas, and how it may affect the quality of peatand its vegetation cover in nature reserve Borkovická blata. Fieldwork consisted of two parts: the first collection of peat and its chemical analysis (conducted in 20102011); second relevés with the development of land use surrounding areas (fieldwork was carried out from July to October 2014). On the moor were selected four phytocenological sites on the size of 5x5 m, on which were carried out sampling and survey. Selected sites showed at first glance significant differences by way of former use.
Some peculiarities of the mesoclimate of Borkovická blata
DUŠÁK, Radim
This work is focused on the area of Borkovická blata and the assessment of its mesoclimate. This work describes the conditions of the formation of the peatbog, some climatic terms, and the area of Borkovická blata. The impact of mesoclimate of the area was assessed. Climatologic data from Borkovice station were taken and interpreted. These data were used to explain how mesoclimate influenced the formation of this unique peatbog locality.
Effect of water regime restoration of degraded peatland on carbon dioxide emissions.
JANSKÁ, Eliška
This thesis represent a project proposal focused on the effect of water regime restoration of degraded peatland on the carbon dioxide emissions. The aim of the project is to create a model of carbon balance on restored peatland.
History and present of peat extraction on the area Borkovická blata
ŠTĚCHOVÁ, Monika
In the general section of this thesis are shortly characterized fossil fuel, peat bogs and peat, process of their origin, their types and importance. Another important part of this work is the extraction of peat, its trend, subsequent restoration and environmental problem of the peat extraction. The main part is the characteristic of the area Borkovická blata, mapping out mining process in the area and the present condition. Furthermore, there is shortly characterized the company Rašelina, a. s., which extracted in Borkovická blata peat for a long time and is still engaged in the extraction and processing of peat.
Spontaneous vegetation succession in mined peatlands
KONVALINKOVÁ, Petra
Spontaneous vegetation succession in mined peatlands in the Czech Republic was studied using the space-for-time substitution approach. The study focused on the variability of vegetation in traditionally mined (block-cut) and industrially mined (milled) peatlands. The influences of age, abiotic site factors, as well as landscape factors were analysed. The thesis summarizes also the state of current knowledge on various groups of organisms (plant, algae, fungi, and animals) in the extracted peatlands in the Czech Republic. The recomendations for the ecological restoration of mined peatlands are given.
Comparison of attendance of two peat bogs (Chalupská a Jezerní slať) in Šumava National Park
DUTKA, Ladislav
Peat bogs of the Šumava National Park are very valuable biotopes with an occurrence of the specific flora and fauna, including glacial relicts. But these localities are also very attractive for tourists, so it is important to find the reasonable compromise between an attendance and a nature protection. The study is dealing with the touristic attendance of two peat bogs ? Chalupská and Jezerní slať. The work is divided into two parts. The first, theoretical part, include a literary review about the character, history and use of these peat bogs. A practical part monitors the attendance of the peat bogs and analyses the research via questionnaire, focused on the comparison of Chalupská and Jezerní slať popularity among tourists. During five days of the research, it was found that Chalupská slať is not more popular than Jezerní. Mostly Czech tourists visited both peat bogs, they consider information boards as contributing, though most of them do not read all the information. Most of the visitors came by bicycle, stayed for a longer vacation (more than 7 days) and preferred guest houses accommodation to camping sites. The problem of a sustainability of these localities attendance is also outlined.
Monitoring of turism and its impact on natural ecosystems in Vyšebrodsko Nature park
HYŠPLEROVÁ, Klára
Natural park Vyšebrodsko is situated at the right side of Lipno dam. The aims of the protection are upland moorland with typical vegetation of the association Sphagnion medii and adjacent deforested area, the occurrence of protected and endangered species of plants and animals linked to the natural mixed forest meadows and moorland. There is protected also landscape character, cultural and historical pattern of this area. The aim of this work was to determine the intensity of turism impact on local ecosystems. There were counted turists, made questionnaire investigation and evaluation of introduced and ruderal plant species. The attendance of this area is relatively small and the influence of turists at the vegetation is not very significant.
Concept of the revitalization of Nature Reserve Kapličky peat bog and continual monitoring of water regime and vegetation
PAVELCOVÁ, Lenka
The "Rašeliniště Kapličky" Nature Reserve is situated in the eastern part of the Šumava Mts. The reserve contains different peatland vegetation types - ombrogenous and transition bog parts. The area was partly drained due to extensive mining, pasturing and forestry in the past There are variously old drainage canals now. My thesis contains (i) the evaluation of groundwater table fluctuation and its relationship to vegetation composition and the drainage intensity and (ii) the evaluation of plant species composition in differently drained parts of the peatbog. There was strong relationship between actual groundwater table and precipitation, especially in drained areas, the diversity and the occurrence of expansive species were also related to groundwater table. A map of dranaige network inside the peatbog (1 : 3 500) and vegetation map (1 : 4 000) in the ArcMap programme for GIS environment were constructed. In the most drained part of the area the revitalisation measure was proposed {--} installation of wooden dams for blocking of drainage system.
The preparation of revitalisation impact in "Rašeliniště Kapličky"
KOPECKÁ, Ladislava
The peat-bog Kapličky is a nature reserve located on the right shore of the Lipno Dam which we can find in the east part of the Šumava mountains in the Vyšebrodsko nature park. The purpose of my paper is to describe the damage of a part of the peat-bog caused by the human activities in the past. The peat was extracted for the fuel activities. It has led to degradation and the overgrowing of expansive species. Therefore I prepare the foundation for the practical realisation of the peat-bog revitalisation. My paper also includes the monitoring of the ground water level at 14-day-intervals, monitoring of vegetation and its alternations in consequence of water cycle. My paper links to Lenka Pavelcová the magister thesis.
Effect of water regime restoration of degraded peatland on the activity of methanogens, methanotrofs and on the total methane emissions
BAXOVÁ, Jana
This work represents the grant application for project dealing with effect of water regime restoration of degraded peatland on the activity of methanogens, methanotrofs and on the total methane emissions. The project is focused on monitoring of methane emissions from peatlands. The obtained results will be also used for calculation of the overall carbon balance for restored peatlands.
