The effect of different plant species on the presence and activity of PCB-degrading microorganisms in real contaminated soil was followed after 7 months cultivation. The presence of microorganisms containing gene bphA was investigated after direct isolation of DNA from soil. Microorganisms were identified by 16S r DNA gene. The biodiversity was studied using TTGE.
Ivan Málek and Czechoslovak microbiology

Ivan Málek was one of the founders of the Czechoslovak microbiology. His main fields of interest included medical and industrial microbiology. He introduced the term "physiological state of the cell" and was the leader of the Czechoslovak school of continuous cultivation of microorganisms.
