Alternative lifestyle option as being satisfied
BENDOVÁ, Kateřina
The topic of this diploma thesis is Alternative lifestyle as a form of content human existence. This thesis is focused on specification of subculture and I defined the subculture of homeless people, which as I assumed and also as my own research data showed, can demonstrate the content form of human existence. The theoretical part of this thesis is divided into four chapters. The first chapter constitutes a theoretical scope of this thesis where I put emphasis on social norms and theory of social deviation, which are crucial for homeless people who are demonstrating alternative lifestyle which is significantly different from the lifestyle of mainstream conformist society. Second chapter describes characteristics of homelessness. The third chapter includes procedure of help to homeless people in their life situation. There are also stated social services for homeless people. The last chapter is focused on the alternative lifestyle. I also deal with the topic of voluntary homelessness. The aim of this diploma thesis is description of aspects of lifestyle of the observed subculture of homeless people. The target group consists of 20 homeless people in age from 18 to 70 years. A method of qualitative approach was applied and a method of analysis of case studies was used for data collection. The main technique of data collection was an interview with directions which I used with 10 homeless people who were in asylum house and with 10 homeless people who were present directly at the public areas. In the context of this thesis five research questions were determined. The primary data was coded/indexed and then processed with the framework analysis according to Ritchie and Spencer. The outcomes of the research showed that the most frequent reason for the origin of homelessness is alcohol addiction. Most frequently it is related to single or divorced man and women. The daily regime of homeless people is from a greater half regular. Among the most frequent daily activities in the asylum house can be mentioned watching television, cleaning common areas of the asylum house, fixed activities and drinking coffee. The outdoor activities mostly constitute of collection of metal, cooking, shopping for food and searching the garbage bins. They usually spend winter nights in facilities of social services (doss house, asylum house), in a tent, in makeshift shanties, or in a squat. Most people spend their days with their friends or partners. People who live in public areas are more willing to make some extra money. There was three times higher experience with begging of the people who live in public areas than people who live in asylum houses. People in asylum houses usually pay for day board meals. People who live outside in public areas procure their food in supermarkets, day centres and doss houses and in garbage bins. For homeless people nicotine addiction is more frequent than alcohol addiction. They perform their personal hygiene in the facilities of social services (day centre, doss house, asylum house). They usually get their clothes from social or asylum clothes supplies. They do not live in relationships with partners however people who live in the public areas have more sexual contacts. More than half of respondents do not think about their future. People who live in asylum houses are more satisfied with their life situation, nevertheless more than half of respondents would like to change their life situation. On basis of the results of this research theoretical concepts were induced.
Implementation of Social Work Supervision in Non-governmental Non-profit Organizations
VOŠVRDOVÁ, Vanda
This thesis deals with the implementation of social work supervision in non-governmental non-profit organizations. Supervision is a staff support tool, a form of learning; it ensures the quality of provided services and is also a very important measure against burnout syndrome. The theoretical part focuses on the definition of supervision, its origin and development. The implementation of supervision to organizations is influenced by various factors, which are addressed in this thesis. Supervision is one of the ways for promoting an independent qualified expert for social workers, as imposed by the Social Service Quality Standards. The aim of this thesis is to determine what entails the implementation of social work supervision to non-governmental non-profit organizations providing social services in the district of Chrudim. The practical part presents results of qualitative research. Hypotheses are defined in the conclusion. The research questions are: - What are the obstacles to the implementation of supervision to non-governmental non-profit organizations providing social services? How is supervision accepted by workers of non-governmental non-profit organizations providing social services? How is supervision accepted by directors/managers of non-governmental non-profit organizations providing social services? The research was carried out in the form of interviews, using the technique of semi-standardized interview with directors and workers of selected organizations. The section Results shows results of the interviews with directors and workers. In the discussion I deal with the results and focus on the areas I wanted to explore in particular?that is, I am looking for answers to the research questions. The answer to the first question is that the obstacle to the implementation of supervision to non-governmental non-profit organizations providing social services is represented by the lack of financial resources. The answer to the second and third questions is that the staff as well as the directors of non-governmental non-profit organizations providing social services accept supervision positively. At the end of the discussion, I provide three hypotheses based on the answers to the research questions.
Use of Care Allowance in District of Trhové Sviny
KOPRNOVÁ, Petra
Abstract An allowance fot the care is rather a new institute which is the main implement of the model of social services established 1/1 2007 on the basis of the law 108/2006 Statute Book about social services. This contribution relates to providing social services. The creation took 13 years and brought many amendments to this sphere ? not only a new conception of social services, their kinds, forms and conditions of providing, it also introduced a new approach to financial source for persons who need it in their unfavourable situation. Current allowance in the process of the care for a close or other person was replaced with an allowance for the care. The aim of this work is a mapping of offers of the social services in the territory of Trhové Sviny and to find if beneficiaries of these allowances for the care use more an assistance providing by the close person or by a registered provider of social services. The results of this research point out that in most cases the assistance of the close person is used. This dissertation could be used for a community planning and as an information material for Sviny´s inhabitants and providers of the local social services.
Volunteering in work with drug addicted people
HORÁKOVÁ, Markéta
This thesis deals with issue of volunteering in work with drug addicted people, which is still not so expanded among the volunteers. The theoretical part of the thesis is divided into three parts. The first part is dealing with volunteering in general - who is the volunteer, what is the motivation for volunteering or look at the volunteering by society. The second part is dedicated to the syndrome of addiction and drugs. The last is introducing the social services for drug addicts. Primarily Contact center in Prostějov in which the research was done. The objective of the thesis is to find out the attitudes of users and workers from Contact center in Prostějov on the presence of volunteers. The research was done by qualitative strategy, method of questioning and the technique of half-structured interview was used. The first part of the research is focused on the attitudes of users of Contact center Prostějov on the presence of volunteers. I tried to get information about if they perceive the volunteers in the contact center positively and if it gives them any benefits. Or the other way they will not come to the contact center because the presence of volunteer intrudes them the safe environment of the contact room. The second part of the research deals with the partial goal of the thesis - the attitudes of workers of Contact center Prostějov on the presence of volunteers. Some organizations can perceive the volunteers as a burden because of the mentoring, the supervision of their work and so on. But on the other hand, there are workers who are grateful for any help because then they have more time for another important work. The thesis is important for practice since it will be given to the workers of the Contact center Prostějov and they could use it for work with volunteers.
Preferences of Social Services for Parents of Children with a Spectrum of Autistic Disorders in South Bohemia Region
KARÁSKOVÁ, Pavla
Social services and generally all activities intended for children with autism spectrum disorders are so specific that they should be tailored to each child. Since it is clear that this can never be achieved, parents should have an opportunity to choose a service that is most beneficial for their child. They know their child better than anyone else in the world so their opinions should be used as the main guideline for planning the social services development. As a matter of fact, this does not apply only to children with autism spectrum disorders but to any children who receive social services. Therefore, the opinions of parents, in this particular case the parents of children with autism spectrum disorders, constitute the major contents of my research which I tried to process as objectively as possible. I understand all who refused to take part in the research because they have many other things to worry about and I am grateful to all who took part and believe together with me that if problems are discussed, a change might be achieved. Parents of children with autism spectrum disorders whom I have met so far rank among people who do not waste their time on futile and trivial matters. These people humbly bear their lot and take care of their children with love. The society should appreciate people like that and assist them as much as possible. In order to process the thesis I used technical literature and the Internet sources relating to this topic. The first chapter briefly characterizes certain autism spectrum disorders, such as childhood autism, atypical autism, Asperger syndrome, other disintegrative disorder, Rett syndrome and other pervasive developmental disorders, as well as the needs and skills of children with an autism spectrum disorder. If developed, preferably under professional guidance in special centres, these skills can help the children to lead their life more easily and be more self-reliant, thus easing their parents of their burden considerably, which they certainly deserve. I also selected certain social services from the Social Services Act 108/2006 of the Collection of Laws of the Czech Republic (Coll.) and Regulation 505/2006 Coll., implementing certain provisions of the Social Services Act, which would be suitable for these children due to the contents of the activities. However, I wish neither to impose these services on anyone nor disrespect the importance of any services not stated in this thesis. The second chapter describes the objectives of the thesis and formulates the hypotheses, and the third chapter describes the methodological procedure. The fourth chapter is focused on the results of the research, prevailingly shown in charts, statistical evaluation and verification of the hypotheses. The fifth chapter contains a discussion on the needs and satisfaction of respondents, and a comparison with specialized sources. In the conclusion I tried to summarize the opinions of respondents and my opinions. Like anyone else, parents of children with ASD have various character and personality features. Someone is rather modest, someone is more demanding. There is no one in the world to please everybody. An attachment contains a printed questionnaire used for the research. I also used an electronic form of the questionnaire that contained the same data as the printed one so I am not providing a reference to it. Another attachment contains a list of certain social services providers that provide various services including services for persons with autism spectrum disorders.
Repeated Stays of Mothers and Their Children in a Refuge for Mothers in Vlašim
JANOUŠOVÁ, Věra
Refuge is according to the law 108/2006 an accommodation service of social prevention, which helps to people in favourable situations connected with the lost of accommodation and this helps is timely limited. My bachelor work focuses on mothers and their children who have used these services repeatedly. In the introduction of the theory part there is briefly described providing of social services in the refuge for mothers and their children in Vlašim according to the standards of quality of social services. The following part is about problems, which can cause the need of stay in a refuge. The final part is focuses on work with a client. The main aim of my bachelor work was to find out the key factors that can cause repeated stays in the Vlašim refuge. Monitoring possibilities of mothers to eliminate those factors was a partial aim of this work. Within the purview of the research there was set one very important question: ?Is there any fact reflection in an individual plan of a client when it is her repeated stay in a refuge?? Quality research was done by a method of questioning, where there was used a method of narrative dialog. The following method used was content analyse of data and participated observation. The group of observation was completed by mothers who had used the service of the Vlašim refuge home repeatedly and there were 5 respondents chosen on the base of intentional choice. The research has shown the most frequent facts that take an important part in the stay in a refuge. The first key factor is fulfilling of basic need in childhood. The second factor is not filling up of duties that come from parent responsibility. The third factor is reached education. The fourth factor is the lost of accommodation or the lack of its quality. The solution can be living in quarters, which are very difficult to be used on good conditions are set up rules. The fifth factor is having a job. According to the research there has been found out that the key factors are the same for the first or repeated stay. With none of the mothers has been found just one of those factors, which points out the fact that the factors are closely connected. The research has also shown that individual planning, in case of repeated stay, shows common characteristics, which are helpful for both sides in formation of the individual plan. The mother, who had already gone through the process of individual planning can more easier define her aims and steps that she is able to bring up to reality. The key worker can assess the possibilities of mother much easier, concentrate more on the problems that last since her previous stay and begin with cooperation with other institutions, organizations and specialists, who cannot just help in solving the present situation of the mother but also can meet the task in the field of prevention. It consists in the task of decreasing factors that lead up to repeated stay in a refuge. Despite of all common features the individual plan is made according to need of each single mother and her children. The key factors that lead to repeated stay, repeatedly appear with mothers, but the key worker has to take in consideration large number of differences, asses them one often another and include them in the plan. If not, the plan becomes just a useless document that proves that providing this social service is a low quality. The act of coming to refuge, the first one or repeated, is always connected with a combination of problems. The decision of a mother of choosing the way to solve the problems is up to her. If the mother is active in solving the problems, uses all the possibilities she can and all abilities she has and will not repeat previous wrong decisions, there is a chance to take part in independent life. I believe that the tasks of this work have been fulfilled. It can bring overview and inspiration in work with a client to a provider of accommodation services for mothers and their children.
Significance of socio-medical assistance services for families of affected senior
HELEBRANDOVÁ, Lucie
Abstract: I have chosen a subject matter which is focused on care for seniors who are not self-sufficient as a topic of my bachelor thesis. Due to the fact that I have looked after my relatives whose self-sufficiency was cut down for their health this topic is close to my heart. This gained experience together with the specialisation I have been studying became the main reason I have chosen such topic for my bachelor thesis. This bachelor thesis is divided into theoretical and practical parts. The theoretical part was divided into four basic chapters. In the first chapter there are the present state of the population of seniors, the role of the state and a status of seniors in our society described. The second chapter follows up and is focused on aging and an old age itself. The third chapter deals with social policy and a system of social services in our society. The fourth chapter deals with the theoretical significance of social care services particularly care services and personal assistance for families with seniors who are not self-sufficient. In particular I have focused on what kind of help is provided to families by each of the two services. The second part of the thesis is a qualitative research which helped to fulfill the objective of this thesis. The subject of the research was to determine the extent to which these services are being used and their relevance for families with chronically ill or differently disadvantaged seniors. The purpose of the survey was to obtain reactions and responses to the question: "What is the importance of social and health care services and personal assistance for families with seniors who are not self-sufficient." The research was focused on individuals and families who care for their loved ones and relatives of an old age who are partially or fully dependent on the assistance of another person. These were just caring family members who were using a day care or personal assistance. In order to obtain the necessary information I have chosen an individual interview method. Through this I could direct research participants in the debate to the subject matters that had helped to clarify goals of this thesis. The survey has resulted in to the summary of the results. The results were formulated on the basis of the recorded reactions of the respondents at first in general and then in the tables. The acquired knowledge became the basis for the formulation of a clear appreciation of the research. There was also evaluated the objective of the thesis and given an answer to my research question. In most cases, the main significance of care services and personal assistance was found in the fact that families are more or less able to keep living standard not only of their own but mainly of a caring person. For a family it is usually very important, to keep a good quality of life to the caring person for this reason it tries with the help of social services to provide maximum in health and social area to seniors. The importance of these two social services also lies in the fact that a family member who is not self-sufficient has the option to stay in his natural home environment surrounded by his relatives. Caregivers have space to have a rest and to recover as well as some time needed to process personal and work matters. Social services can make shared lives of the elderly, who is not self-sufficient, and his entire family easier.
Emergency care in region Vysočina
ČERVENKOVÁ, Milada
The thesis consists of theory part and empirical part. The theory part is divided into seven chapters and it consists of the main problems, connected with the main research question. The first chapter refers problems of getting old and five basic principes of the approach to the population of seniors. Part of the chapter is description of the hierarchy of human needs (Maslow) and its change in connection with getting old. These changes are divided into three spheres: physiological, higher and spiritual. The second chapter explains the concept of ?Elderly fragility?. The third chapter refers the loneliness and isolation in elderly in various forms and their impact on lives of elderly. It is also dedicated to the concept of successful process of getting old and healthy elderly. The fourth chapter describes using of the modern information and communication technologies by the elderly and their influence on life of a senior. It also consists of results of the research from the Health Science Journal; the research was concentrated on understanding of modern technologies by seniors. The fifth chapter describes the basic explanation of the social service and it is also dedicated to terms like founders, providers, users of the social services and social services offer agreement. The sixth chapter describes social work with seniors, living at home. The seventh chapter is dedicated to the Emergency service care ? its history and present state, the civic association ŽIVOT 90 (Life 90) ? Jihlava, which provides this service, the aims of the emergency care, the target group, criterions of the offer and refusal of the service, the first meeting with the user of the service, ways how to offer the emergency care, cooperation of the Emergency care service with other institutions, expansion of the Emergency care service for mobile seniors, compensation for the offered service and comparison of the service with similar German services. The empirical part is aimed on usage of the emergency care itself, in everyday life of seniors. The target of the thesis was to find out, whether users are satisfied with the Emergency care service in Vysočina (Higlands) district. The main research question of the work was: ?Did this service fulfill the expectation of the seniors?? The next chapter consists of four partial research questions and their operationalization. Partial questions are: ?Did this service fulfill its purpose during its practical using? Which purposes use the seniors this service to? Are the seniors happy with the technical equipment? Are the seniors happy with the Emergency care dispatching personnel?? Next, the methodical procedure of the research follows. The research work itself ran in two phases. In the first phase, the pre-research was conducted and after that, the research itself followed. For research of the work, a strategy of qualitative research was used. The method also consists of description of the research tool and group. The data were collected via method of asking and semi-structured interviews. For partial analysis of the data, the cluster method was used. Whole interview was recorded and then rewritten. Consecutively, the interview was evaluated via the cluster method ? common and different characteristics. The results were texturized and presented according to the partial research questions. We can answer the main research question ?Did the service fulfilled expectations of the seniors? positively. As my results say, the Emergency care service, run by the civic organization ŽIVOT 90 (Life 90) ? Jihlava, meets its goal, which is to increase the quality of life of the seniors. This is enabled by active and meaningful living in own house as long as possible and it helps the seniors to live their ?autumn of the life? with dignity. This abstract should extend the knowledge about the Emergency care service and inform about its using in practice. ?
The phenomenon of female homelessness from the perspective of a social worker
KLUSÁKOVÁ, Kateřina
The topic of this thesis is The Phenomenon of Female Homelessness as Seen by Health and Social Workers. Although the terms a homeless person and homelessness are terminologically unclear and there is no clear definition of this concept, the phenomenon of homelessness is known in our society. But it is not about homeless people as such, the Social Services Act defines homeless people as people without any housing available. Despite the fact that there is more information on male homelessness, the issues of female homelessness are coming to the fore. Female homelessness is an issue that is very closely linked to the loss of housing. However, the issue is not only about a loss of housing but also about the issue of domestic violence, maintaining dignity and, finally, it is also about the interest of children and their safety. Homelessness of families, whether it is a single mother with children or a father with children as well as a complete family, also begins to appear. With the increasing number of women threatened in this way, an increasing number of organizations providing social services for homeless women is beginning to appear. These services are provided as outpatient services, field services and residential services. Homeless people, and therefore homeless women, are provided with social services in asylum homes, hostels, drop-in day centres, crisis centres, halfway houses engaged in the prevention of homelessness of girls who leave institutional care, and social activation services for families with children that are threatened by this phenomenon. However, it includes not only these services, but a major role is played by social counselling that is provided to women in professional counselling centres. The issue of social services is dealt with by the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs of the Czech Republic, but also by regions, municipalities and, ultimately, non-profit organizations. Qualitative research was chosen for the practical part of the thesis using the interview method with a manual. Case reports were processed based on the interviews conducted. The research was conducted at an asylum home for women and mothers with children (Azylový dům pro ženy a matky s dětmi in Tábor) and a crisis centre for mother and child (Krizové centrum pro matku a dítě in Kostelec). Ten respondents participated in the interviews. In addition, interviews were conducted with workers of social services in the South Bohemia region. The workers in each of the facilities were selected according to their posts; they were mainly social workers or manager of the facilities. Six respondents out of seven interviewed respondents from the asylum home for women and mothers with children participated in the research. The remaining four respondents were from the crisis centre for mother and child. The respondents were selected using purposive selection. After contacting the managers or social workers from the social service facilities for homeless women in the South Bohemia region, I was provided with, in addition to three facilities, necessary information about the capacity of the facilities and whether the service is adequate or not. The objective was to map the number of organizations that provide social services to homeless women in the South Bohemia region and find out the most common reasons that lead to the emergence of female homelessness. To achieve the set objectives the following research questions were formulated: Is the amount of social services for homeless women in the South Bohemia region sufficient? What are the most common reasons that lead to the emergence of female homelessness?
Social services for people with HIV/AIDS
LINHARTOVÁ, Barbora
Worldwide statistics show an increasing number of people infected with HIV. Unfortunately, number of people with HIV is also increasing in the Czech Republic (CR). That's why I was in my thesis entitled Social services for persons with HIV / AIDS deeply devoted to care, which is in the Czech Republic provided to persons affected by this insidious disease. I focused on social services, which device provides them, how users are satisfied and whether they have constant contact with the family. The bachelor thesis is divided in two parts, namely the theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part is thematically divided into nine sub-chapters, which are further divided into sections. The first subsection deals with the current situation, therefore the definition of HIV / AIDS, the second chapter explains the entire history of HIV and in the third chapter I write about the transmission of HIV. In this section there are described different ways of transmission of the virus. In this part I try to describe to the reader what that HIV / AIDS is. In the fourth and fifth subchapter is referred clinical picture of the disease, how the disease manifests itself, which are the stages of the disease and especially epidemiology, when to readers are approximated data and statistics from the Czech Republic and also from abroad. In the following three sub-sections, which are: treatment, testing and prevention, is briefly described treating HIV / AIDS, what are the methods of testing and how you can defend against HIV. The final ninth chapter is devoted to the principal topic of my thesis, and that?s social services (pursuant to Act 108/2006 Sb.) that are provided to people with HIV / AIDS, where are they provided, how are they financed, etc. Last but not least is mentioned where can a person who feels threatened by the virus, reverse. The practical part of this work was conducted through qualitative research, secondary data analysis and content analysis data. The first objective was to monitor the overall range of social services in the Czech Republic. The second goal was also monitoring, but in this case it was monitoring the satisfaction of users of social services DS with services provided by that social center. Since DS is the only facility providing the service in the Czech Republic, the research was conducted exclusively in this device. The third aim of my thesis was to compare data and statistics HIV / AIDS in the Czech Republic and other European countries. For comparison, I chose autonomous Switzerland, which seemed the most appropriate for comparison. For the purposes of research, I have identified three research questions: What is the incidence and prevalence of HIV / AIDS in the Czech Republic 31 12th 2012? What is the situation of HIV / AIDS in Switzerland compared to the Czech Republic? Is satisfaction of respondents with social services sufficient or D9+-S users have concerns about social services? Even in 2011 didn?t the Czech Republic belong among risk countries with a high incidence and prevalence. In the past year (2012) increased prevalence and incidence and the Czech Republic got on the list of countries at risk. It is paradoxical that while in the Czech Republic, is only one device for people with HIV / AIDS, which provides social services and the number of infected increases every year, there is no need to expand the provision of social services. DS coverers enough the needs of people who need this service and is always trying to find the best and most optimal solution for both sides. The work could help to raise the profile of this serious health, economic and social problem and at the same time could serve as study material not only for students but also for the general public. Furthermore, it could be extended to the framework of the thesis.
