Color possibilities of artificial sandstones based on geopolymers
Lattenberg, Pavel ; Kalina, Lukáš (referee) ; Opravil, Tomáš (advisor)
This thesis deals with the possibility of preparing artificial sandstone based on geopolymer matrix and ways to achieve a natural appearance and good mechanical properties. The theoretical part is devoted to the current state of knowledge in the field of geopolymers and their recovery potential, but also the natural sandstone and its geographic diversity. The practical part deals with the preparation of various types of binding systems based on metakaolin, ground blast furnace slag and water glass. Their comparison, and the possibility the appearance and characteristics change in the composition of the filler.
Study of synthetic sandstones preparation possibilities
Solik, Jaroslav ; Kalina, Lukáš (referee) ; Opravil, Tomáš (advisor)
This thesis explores the possibility of developing synthetic sandstones based on alkaline-activated (geopolymer) binders. The goal is to design an appropriate connective system of optimal concentration, so that the prepared material (artificial stone) showed similar characteristics as natural. The experimental section summarizes the experiments that explore several different alkali connective systems. The aim is to compare the properties of binders prepared from methakaolin (Mefisto K-05 and L-05) alkali-activated by sodium or potassium water glass. For comparison with these connective systems were also prepared samples of commercially supplied geopolymer binder called Baucis
Artificial stone - methods of preparation and properties
Pluskalová, Barbora ; Bayer, Patrik (referee) ; Rovnaník, Pavel (advisor)
The aim of the thesis „Artificial stone – Methods of preparation and it´s properties“ deals with the various methods and issues concerning the preparation of artificial stone. The thesis presents the summary of materials and various methods suitable for the preparation and points out mechanical properties, including durability of material, which serves as an alternative to natural stone. Further on, the thesis deals with the studies of binding systems based on geopolymers, which are used for the artificial stone preparation. This part of the thesis is associated with the experimental part, which is aimed at choosing the suitable mixing ratio of binder to aggregate in the artificial stone based on metakaolin geopolymer. According to the results of mechanical tests and aesthetic impression the author chose the best composition and then created a decorative element.

Chemical and mineralogical analyses of sandstone sampled from Karlstejn Castle
Strength tests of sandstones from Bohemian Switzerland National Park (locality of Hřensko and Pravčická brána)
Živor, Roman
Simple compressive strength and cross-tensile strength (by Brazilian test) of sandstone samples from area of Bohemian Switzerland National Park were determined. Strength properties were found during three various conditions of the rock moisture – natural (laboratory), minimal and maximal rock moistures.
Al-enriched water from unsaturated zone of sandstone: The most acidified environment in the Czech Republic by the atmospheric deposition?
Bruthans, J. ; Schweigstillová, Jana
The study describes chemistry and isotopic composition of water from unsaturated zone of sandstone. Studied waters are extremely acidified. Isotopic composition of H and O of studied waters lies at local line of meteoric water.
Analysis of mortar and stone samples extracted from the Charles Bridge in Prague
Drdácký, Miloš ; Slížková, Zuzana
The report summarizes detailed results of physical and chemical analyses of samples of medieval mortars and stones – sandstones and argillite – extracted form historical masonry of the Charles Bridge in Prague.
Pravčická brána Arch and the origin of natural sandstone arches
Cílek, Václav ; Adamovič, Jiří ; Vařilová, Zuzana
The origin of the Pravčická brána Arch was controlled by tectonic deformation of the sandstone rock massif and the formation of exfoliation scales. The present morphology is contributed by rock ledges at levels of conglomerate beds. From geological viewpoint, arches are temporary phenomena.
