ECG signals compression
Botlová, Simona ; Vítek, Martin (referee) ; Smital, Lukáš (advisor)
This bachelor thesis deals with the compression of ECG signals using wavelet transform and run length encoding. The principles of electrocardiography, compression methods, wavelet transform and run length encoding are described in this thesis. There was created a program to compress and decompress ECG signals in MATLAB interface. The wavelet transform settings and their influence on compress ratio and percentage root mean square difference were tested. Subsequently, the appropriate adjustment of algoritm was found and it was used on CSE database compression.
Use of higher-order cumulants for ECG analysis
Maršánová, Lucie ; Janoušek, Oto (referee) ; Ronzhina, Marina (advisor)
This work deals with using higher order cumulants for analysis ECG. In the first part of work is described principle of electrocardiography, followed by matemathical derivation of higher order cumulants, description of their properties and their use in current practice. In the next part of paper is described caltulation higher order statistic of ECG beats in Matlab programming environment. In the practical part of work are tested predicted properties. Distinctive properties are minimalization of amplitude and time shift and Gaussian noise. This properties of higher order cumulants enable lesser variance of beats in one class and easier clasification ECG. Calculation of cumulants from real ECG beats of various groups is then realized. Classification based on the original ECG cycles and cumulants is performed using artificial neural network. Results of these classification approaches are then compared and discussed.
The measurement of cardiovascular parameters
Žáková, Monika ; Kratochvíla, Jiří (referee) ; Nováková, Zuzana (advisor)
This paper summarizes the problems of physiology of the cardiovascular system, with a focus on cardiovascular measurements during physical activity. It describes the diagnostic tools Cardiovit AT-104 (Schiller, Switzerland) and PowerCube (Ganshorn, Germany), used to spiro-ergometry measurements. It provides options to export data and work with them. It proposed protocol for the measurement of a small group of volunteers, by which we measure basic diagnostic parameters before, during and after physical activity. The MATLAB application is created, allowing clear analysis of measurement records. The final part contains a statistical assessment affected by physical activity on the measured parameters and a comparison of results with the available literature.
Analysis of measured parameters of the cardiovascular system
Lysoň, Jakub ; Vítek, Martin (referee) ; Kratochvíla, Jiří (advisor)
This bachelor thesis talks about the measurement of heart electrical activity by twelve lead ECG. The diagnostic system Biopac is used for measurement, featured by the computer program Acqknowledge. The own authentic method is designed to detect effect of load on increasing in blood pressure and heartbeat. Using a statistical procedure for testing hypotheses in this area the measurement results will be evaluated. For the analysis of measured data in time and frequency domain was used program Matlab, in which the measured results were imported. It was created functions that are implemented in an medium of Guide to the graphic design program.

This master's thesis deals with an analysis of principles of ECG signals detection and delineation. The theoretical part describes heart electrophysiology and electrocardiography basics. Next, the most important QRS detection and ECG delineation algorithms are introduced. Especially the wavelet transform methods are described. In the practical part proper delineation algoriythm was realized. It was tested on the standard CSE database, then it was modified on data of isolated rabbit heartsand the results are published in the conclusion.
Measurement of cardiovascular parameters
Kratochvíla, Jiří ; Čmiel, Vratislav (referee) ; Kolářová, Jana (advisor)
The aim of the bachelor’s thesis is to get acquainted with the measurement of cardiovascular parameters, to realize the measurment of these parameters, to analyze them, show the statistic procedure of verifying hypotheses in this spere and finally the presentation of measured data including automatical detection of the heart rate from ECG signal in created program in Guide of Matlab system. On the basis of the theory was done the measurment on own suggestion with the Biopac system and with the quicksilver tonomether. The parameters, that were measured on the group of five people: ECG, blood pressure and the pulse frequency before and after the load. After the data processing was done the statistic analysis, the aim of this analysis was to show the procedure of verifying hypothesis, if and how are these measured parameters of cardiovascular system changing. After that the measured data were transported into Matlab system. The presentation of measured data (created program) contains the time domain and spectral analyses (using Fourier transform) of ECG signal, automatical detection of the heart rate from ECG signal, analysis of the heart rate variability (HRV) – tachogram together with detailed analysis of HRV spectra (spectra of heart rate variability – relating with parasympathetic and sympathetic activity), that are using in clinical practice too, just as the other measured parametres of the cardiovascular system.
Cardiotachometer
Máca, Kamil ; Číž, Radim (referee) ; Chmelař, Milan (advisor)
This masters thesis describes possibilities of a heart rate measuring. Several methods of measuring will be discussed. The primary objective of this paper is to design battery powered cardiotachometr with a range of 30-240 beats/min and a low battery indication. Cardiotachometer uses the R waves detector to measure heart rate. This thesis is focused on creation of the block diagram, electrical circuit, printed circuit and calculation of electronic device used in cardiotachometers.
Analysis EKG by paramedic in pre-hospital care
KOLLNEROVÁ, Kateřina
This Bachelor thesis deals with the issue of monitoring and evaluation of electrocardiography (ECG). The monitoring of ECG belongs to the basic diagnostic methods of heartbeat. It is also irreplaceble in prehospital emergency care (PEC). That is why a paramedic must be sure in manipulation with the ECG machine and he or she must faultlessly distinguish typical deviations in ECG curve, especially in case of life-threatening and frequent arrhythmia because a proper treatment in PEC usually has a decisive influence on a patient´s life. In the theoretical part of the thesis I dealt with basic knowledge about the anatomy and physiology of heart. Then I focused on electrocardigraphy as a basic diagnostic method, I mentioned various types of ECG and described ECG machine used in PEC. I also delineated electrodes and downspouts and their classification. I added a procedure of monitoring ECG by means of defibrillation electrodes and by means of downspouts. In the next chapter I dealt with physiological ECG curve, its description and assessment of cardiac rhythm. A considerable part of the theoretical part is devoted to heart rhythm disorders and classification of these disorders. In the last charter I mapped options of heart rhythm disorders treatment pharmacological as well as therapy without drug application. The research part of the thesis is based on qualitative and quantitative form of research. Data were gained by method of interview and by additional knowledge test designated for paramedics from the South Moravian Region. The interviews were carried out with paramedics from the Emergency Medical Service of the South Moravian Region. The additional test consists of 16 open as well as closed questions. Results of the research were processed and depicted by means of bar charts. These express numerical value of the research results. The main aim of the thesis was an analysis of paramedics´ procedure when evaluating ECG curve. The minor aim of the thesis was to map a paramedic´s knowedge in te field of ECG curve evaluation. The theoretical part of the thesis can be used as a study material for paramedic students and also for students of other medically-oriented branches who study the issue of ECG. On the basis of the thesis results a manual was made out which could simplify the evaluation of ECG curves.
