Attitudes of pupils of primary schools towards selected minorities.
ŠPIČKOVÁ, Hana
This bachelor thesis theoretically and practically examines the attitudes of pupils in the 7th and 8th grades of basic schools to selected minorities (the marginalized minority of the homeless, homosexuals, EMO subculture and religious minority of the Satanists). The theoretical part of this bachelor thesis deals with definitions of attitudes, prejudices and stereotypes. We have further characterized the early adolescence, which provides basic information about the developmental stage of the respondents in the target group. The most extensive part of the theoretical part contains information about the selected minorities. Basic terms were explained for each of the minorities and it was described how many members of those minorities there are in the Czech society. Further, for most minorities we have described the development of attitudes of the society to them. One exception is the EMO subculture for which it is impossible to map the development of attitudes as for this group no relevant investigations were conducted which would make it possible to describe the development. The objective of this bachelor thesis to map attitudes of pupils in the 7th and 8th grades of basic schools to the selected minorities (the marginalized minority of the homeless, homosexuals, EMO subculture and religious minority of the Satanists) in the Czech Republic (on a sample in the district of Žďár nad Sázavou), with differentiation based on the sex of the respondents. Before conducting the research three hypotheses were formulated and subsequently confirmed. Hypothesis No. 1: Boys and girls in the researched sample group demonstrate a higher sympathy for the homeless compared to the other selected groups. Hypothesis No. 2: More than 50 % of the girls in the researched sample group demonstrate a positive attitude to the homosexuals. Hypothesis No. 3: More than 50 % of the girls in the researched sample group demonstrate a positive attitude to the EMO subculture. All the established hypotheses we have been confirmed for the selected sample group. The research has been conducted using a quantitative technique, through interviewing by means of my own questionnaire, based on a presentation of illustrative photos. The questionnaire was anonymous and it was completely filled out by 104 respondents. The research was complemented with 6 interviews with selected respondents to map their attitudes. The contribution of this work consists in the mapping of the actual attitudes of the respondents to the mentioned minorities. Results of the work could be used as a feedback for the professional and interested general public. The thesis may also serve as an input for workshops with children at selected basic schools, to deepen their knowledge about the concerned minorities.

The DIPO-J questionnaire was used at secondary schools in disctrict of České Budějovice. The questionnaire consists of sixty questions dividend into six dimensions according to the approaches. A particular numer of points is assigned to each reply. Then we can compare the results among the surveyed schools according to the sex and also these results can be compared to the previous thesis on the same theme. The questionnaire is focused on students` approach to the Physical Training as a required subject at secondary shools. These approaches reflect the Physical Training teachers as a object and subject of the education process. We can view from the obtained results the current situation of the Physical Training education and we can consider if there is need to change it.

Public prejudice to epileptics
DOUBKOVÁ, Ivana
Epilepsy, a paroxysmal brain illness, is not a disease that would prevent patients from living their lives fully and from achieving aims they set themselves. Even these days there is a great deal of prejudice and negative feeling when it comes to epilepsy. The present diploma thesis deals with the problem of prejudice and general public opinions towards people suffering from epilepsy in the region of České Budějovice (Budweis), Czechia. The thesis also handles the problem of respondents{\crq} awareness of epilepsy in that region. In the theoretical part of the thesis the author summed up all important knowledge about epilepsy from the medical point of view, focusing on the impact of the illness on each person{\crq}s social life. The objective of the present diploma thesis was to ascertain general public opinions on epileptics in the region of České Budějovice. A sub-goal was to ascertain general public awareness of epilepsy in the aforementioned region. In accordance with the set goals, the following hypotheses were formulated: ``The general public feel negative prejudice against epileptics.{\crq}q ``The general public does not have correct information on epilepsy.{\crq}q Both hypotheses have been confirmed. The research was a quantitative one. The author used the method of questioning, the questionnaire and semantic deferential techniques. Respondents were chosen from general population, aged 18 and older, living in the region of České Budějovice. The research has shown that ordinary people feel negative prejudice and have negative opinions in terms of epileptics. They often assume that epileptics are mentally ill, and not capable of working on a regular basis. Furthermore, the research has proved that the general public do not have correct information on epilepsy, particularly in the field of epileptic fits, first aid and the treatment. Public education ought to be oriented to primary and secondary school pupils and students because only thus young people can adopt positive thinking and opinions on epilepsy, and this may well survive when they grow older and be passed down to other generations.
