Issues of confidentiality and reporting obligations in low-threshold facilities for children and youth

The thesis focuses on the conflict between the duty to report and the duty of confidentiality in a low-threshold facility for children and youth. The first part of the thesis characterizes the low-threshold facility for children and youth. This is followed by a definition of the legislative framework of the reporting obligations and the duty of confidentiality. The thesis briefly introduces the social and legal protection of children and the activities of the OSPOD. Then the possibilities of cooperation and NZDM with OSPOD and the Police of the Czech Republic and the most common reasons that prevent this cooperation. The last part of the thesis focuses on ethics and ethical dilemmas in social work with regard to professional ethics of social workers and ethical dilemmas occurring in the work in NZDM. The thesis offers possible solutions to ethical dilemmas and recommendations on how to to prevent them. The thesis combines a theoretical approach with a research part. The qualitative research is conducted through semi- structured interviews with social workers in low-threshold facility for children and youth.
Love as a part of a helping relationship in social work

The diploma thesis deals with the question of the compatibility of love and professional relationship between a social worker and a client with mental illness. It also explores the possible benefits, but also the potential risks that love can bring to the professional relationship. It distinguishes between different types of love and explores their possible application in social work with the target group. Love and the professional helping relationship between the social worker and the client, not only with mental illness, are complementary. The benefit of including aspects of love in the professional relationship can be the strengthening of mutual trust, which brings a positive effect in the process of achieving the goals of social work. The thesis is theoretical.
Psychohygiene and stress amongst social workers

The work deals with the psychohygiene and stress among social workers, which affects them during the course of their work. The theoratical part characterizes the work of a social worker, its content and methods of social work. It also describes the psychological strain in the form of stress, frustration, conflict and burnout syndrome, which may occur under the heavy influence of aforementioned burdens. The last chapter of the theoretical part deals with the rules and means of psychohygiene that can be used in social work. The practical part contains research, which is carried out using a semi-structured interview with 5 female respondents who have been working in the social field for more than 10 years. The research is focused on the effect of the demands placed on workers during the performance of their work, on the awareness of psychohygiene of their means and possible prevention against stress, workload and burnout syndrome.
Ethical dilemmas of social workers of an asylum for mothers with children

The thesis deals with the ethical dilemmas of social workers in the asylum and its analysis through the selected ethical direction. Utilitarianism is chosen as the key ethical direction. In its introductory part, the thesis deals with the characteristics of the target group of shelters for mothers with children. It portrays the diversity of needs of the target group of the asylum for mothers with children. It also discusses the possible effects of single parenthood and the state apparatus used to resolve their social situation. The second part of the thesis presents a presentation of a specific shelter for mothers with children, taking a closer look at explaining what an ethical dilemma or ethical problem is, and what the possibilities of solving them are in practice. The above-mentioned topics help us to better understand the next part of the thesis, which will deal with the real ethical problems of social workers in an asylum for mothers with children. In a particular asylum home for mothers with children in Prague, an investigation is conducted through semi-structured interviews that will find out what ethical dilemmas social workers face most often in their practice. The thesis aims to find out the ethical dilemmas that social workers deal with and to look at them through the lens of an ethical approach. The ethical approach chosen is utilitarianism. During the reflection on ethical dilemmas, the thesis relies mainly on professional literature. Analyzing an ethical dilemma through the aforementioned ethical approach provides a broader view of the issue and can help social workers in solving ethical problems.
Social work with the child, in the divorce proceedings of the parents, from the point of view of OSPOD

The final thesis deals with the issue of "Social work with the child in the divorce proceedings of the parents from the point of view of OSPOD". After defining basic concepts such as family, marriage, divorce and social work with a minor child, the types of divorce proceedings and the role of the minor child in this process are specified here. What is decisive here is the approximation of social work with the child in the divorce proceedings of the parents, especially from the point of view of the position of the social worker at OSPOD. This also includes the introduction of individual techniques and methods that a social worker can use in his position. Part of the thesis is the presentation of the conducted qualitative research in the form of a semi-structured interview with social workers at the OSPOD, who carry out collision guardianship of minor children in the divorce proceedings of the parents. The research focuses on the evaluation of methodological recommendations in relation to practice, as far as they are beneficial for improving the quality of practice.
Ethical Dilemmas Of Social Workers When Working With Clients Who Provide Sexual Services

The aim of my diploma thesis is to formulate ethical dilemmas that social workers solve when working with sex workers and to analyze the most frequently mentioned dilemmas. The task of this diploma thesis is to describe and summarize ethical dilemmas. The collection of information was based on four semi-structured interviews with social workers. The work is divided into six chapters, in which I describe the target group, social work and its specifics with this target group. Other chapters are devoted to social work with sex workers, the role of the social worker and research methodology. The next chapter deals with the ethics of social work and the most common dilemmas of social workers. At the end of the work there is an analysis of the ethical dilemma of social work in the time of Covid from the perspective of the ethical theory of deontology and utilitarianism.
Ethical aspects of social work with problem children and youth from the perspective of the curator for children and youth OSPOD of the Karlovy Vary region

The diploma thesis deals with the ethical aspects of social work in performing the profession of social guardianship for children and youth. The curator for children and youth works with at-risk children who show problematic behavior and the need to solve their life situation. The work contains not only the definition of basic concepts related to the topic of the work, but also the possibility of solving ethically challenging situations through social work and ethics. The aim of the work is to find out and describe the ethical issues that the curators of the Karlovy Vary Region deal with in their profession. The diploma thesis also deals with their attitude and opinions towards working with problem children. The identification of ethical aspects, attitudes and opinions of curators was carried out with the help of qualitative research.
Fulfillment of the minimum standard of the association of educators in social work in the topic of ethics at selected universities

The master's thesis focuses on the topic of fulfilling the Minimum standard of the ASVSP in the area of ethics, specifically the analysis and verification of the effect of teaching on graduates, to determine whether the curriculum leads to successful application of knowledge and skills in practice. It is divided into 4 chapters. The first chapter introduces the characteristics of social work and the social worker. The aim of this chapter is to define social work, characterize the social worker, present the prerequisites of the social worker, and their moral profile. It also highlights the difference between professional and non-professional assistance. The second chapter deals with education in social work. This chapter presents the necessary professional knowledge and the education of social workers, along with its objectives. The chapter also addresses the adequacy of education and emphasizes the importance and intention of the ASVSP. The third chapter focuses on the ethical dimension of social work. Topics covered in this chapter include: ethics as an integral part of social work, ethical codes, education in the field of ethics in the context of social work, as well as the Minimum standard of the ASVSP in the dimension of ethics. It discusses education at the faculty of Theology, University of South Bohemia, in the bachelor's program of Social and Charitable Work. The final chapter presents the research investigation, which was conducted through semi-structured interviews. The aim was to ascertain whether the Faculty of Theology of the University of South Bohemia meets the Minimum Standard of the Association of Social Work Educators regarding the topic of ethics, specifically the analysis and verification of the effect of teaching on graduates, to determine whether the curriculum leads to successful application of knowledge and skills in practice.
Ethical dilemmas of social workers in elderly residential services

The thesis focuses on the issue of ethical dilemmas faced by social worker when working with seniors in residential social services, specifically in retirement homes. The thesis discusses aging, social work with seniors, and the social worker, addressing the dispute associated with the helping profession. Another part of the thesis deals with ethical dilemmas and specific problematic situations encountered by social workers during their practice in retirement homes. The problematic situations are described in the form of case studies. The pivotal chapter of the thesis explores ethics in social work, its significance, values, and the application of ethical theories in social work. At the end of the chapter, an ethical reflection on a selected ethical dilemma is conducted using Kantian ethics. The principles of Kantian ethics can be helpful in the practice of a social worker when making decisions in challenging situations.
