Fantasy - Theory of the Genre and its Educative Aspects

This diploma thesis deals with fantasy literature in both, national and international contexts, as well as with its didactical possessions. Its aim is to prove that this genre has, apart from its history and a recognized place in the domain of literature, a cognitive value to enhance the readers in terms of aesthetics, knowledge, experience and emotions. A second aim of the thesis is to describe the position of fantasy in so-called ``speculative fiction{\crq}q. The first part of the work allows its readers to understand the term ``Fantasy``. It also provides them with history of the genre and its nowadays´ subdivision. In the subsequent chapters the fantasy is presented as a genre able to adapt to fields not necessarily linked to contemporary literature, such as source of knowledge and understanding in lives of young people. A more detailed approach to the Czech form of the genre is also provided with emphasis to common and opposite aspects of it in comparison with the world fantasy (mostly Anglo-American). The didactical potential is underlined in appropriate paragraphs. The 4th and 6thchapters are then fully dedicated to the didactical potential. The last chapter presents results of research work focused on fantasy.
Informedness of primary school pupils in the town of Milevsko about HIV/AIDS

AIDS is a pandemic disease known for almost three decades, and the most effective prevention is general informedness and responsible sexual behaviour. Especially young people should know as much as possible about the disease to be able to protect themselves effectively. The objective of this thesis is to find the sources of information about HIV/AIDS and the level of knowledge about this disease in adolescent population or pupils in the highest grades of Milevsko primary schools. The theoretical part of this thesis focuses on adolescents, their life style and especially the awakening interest in sexuality and their sexual behaviour. I try to find the effects that may influence these sexual aspects, including sex education at school and in the family. I deal with the influence of information about HIV/AIDS on sexual behaviour of young people. I also briefly describe AIDS prevention programs for adolescents. My research conducted in the questionnaire form shows that pupils are generally informed about the issues of HIV/AIDS; however, certain factors must be addressed in more detail. A positive finding is that up to two thirds of the respondents believe that the information about HIV/AIDS will affect their future sexual behaviour to avoid infection. However, mere informedness is not enough to prevent the spread of the infection. It is also necessary to implement prevention programs, to provide quality information within sex education, but also to direct the public, through the media, towards responsible sexual behaviour of individuals. Finally, it is important to ensure and promote an atmosphere in society that will be positive and that will not help spread the infection.
Ecological Education in Term of Physiogeny of Individual

Ecological education in term of physical development of individual This study focuses on an ecological education in term of physical development of individual. First it devotes to perception of animals in the historical context, further describes ecological education, its methods and system and brings out activities of Centrum ekologické výchovy OFČR. Then study continues with characteristics of particular life stages of pre-school children, early school children and adolescents. The final part of the study describes the specialties, on which are composed the training programs.
A Selected Risk Behavior a Socially Undesirable Phenomenon by Children at Elementary School

The thesis deals with selected risk behaviour and socially undesirable phenomena in elementary school children. The data for the thesis were collected in ninth classes of elementary schools in the regions of South Bohemia, Central Bohemia and Ústí. Quantitative research, questioning method, the technique of anonymous questionnaire were used to ascertain the data; preset hypotheses are verified or falsified on the base of evaluation of the questionnaire. The respondents filled out the questionnaires at school, but with exclusion of the authority close to them, in order to obtain as high validity of data as possible. The thesis has a theoretical part describing individual selected phenomena, previous statistics of their incidence and the current period of life of the respondents. The practical part sets goals and describes the actual research and discussion with authors I have drawn from. The goal of the work was to map the incidence and extent of the selected phenomena of pupils of ninth classes of elementary schools. Partial goals were to select the phenomena among the individual regions and to compare the data with implemented prevention. The research shows that the selected phenomena occur in all regions; none of the phenomena is absent in any of the regions. Use of legal, socially tolerated substances, i.e. alcohol and tobacco, is most frequently represented. Each of the selected reasons is more endangered in another form of risk behaviour than the other regions. The Region of South Bohemia appears as the most risky one, with the highest experience of pupils with illegal drugs, both in the number of cases experience and in the frequency of use. The research also shows that the implementation of primary prevention comes late for almost all forms of selected risk behaviour, often only after the pupils have engaged themselves, or shortly before. The results of the thesis can be used in practice, e.g. by instructors of primary prevention, by school methodologists to set up Minimum preventive programs and last but not least for teaching and for the need of other research.
The problems of smoking and drinking of children of school age (12-15 years)

The thesis consists of two parts {--} theoretical and practical. The theoretical part describes the history of alcohol and tobacco, their composition and influence on a young organism, and the current situation. It also refers to prevention and valid legal regulations in this field. The objectives of the practical part are to confirm or reject the hypotheses set beforehand. I decided to use the questionnaire method as the research technique. I handed out 281 questionnaires to the primary school pupils in Ševětín and in Dukelská Street in České Budějovice. The respondents were pupils attending the 7th, 8th and 9th grades. The rate of return was 100%. In my thesis I monitor the attitude of today´s children to smoking and drinking alcohol, their knowledge in this respect and the range of preventive measures. I suppose that the results of my thesis will be useful in introducing preventive measures in primary schools.
Adolescents´ orientation of value

Annotation This graduation thesis discourse about value orientation of adolescentes at present time. The thesis consists of theoretical and practical sections. 1. Theoretical part appers from present-day knowledge of pubescence and adolescentes and it explains the terms such as pubescence, adolescence, social progress, emocionality, identity, value tendencies and selfconception. The thesis describes time of adolescente and sociable and psychological characteristics of these young people. You can find information about system of secondary school at present-day. The last part of theoretical sections aims on comparing determinantes of personal progress and on their influence on progress of value our teenagers. 2. The practical part interprets results of research, which was realized on two secondary school in last year-class. The purpose of the research was to find out value tendencies of adolescentes at present time and show personal values of these young people. The results of research are presented not only collectively but also like results for gender groups. This point of view is important for comparing tendencies of values among young girls and boys.
Pubescents´ orientation of value

In first, theoretic parts, they are explication basic concepts, that are in work mostly exploitation. More closely is explication period of pubescence, bodily and mental evolution. Social development in the period of adolescence

The thesis, ``Social development in the time of adolescence``, has a theoretic-empirical character. It deals with terms of adolescence, social development, emotionality, identity and socialization in the theoretical part. It also describes individual phases of adolescence, social and psychological features of adolescents. The thesis also gives brief information about characteristics of secondary schools. Practical part deals with questionnaires and personality tests which were fulfilled with the first, the second and the third year students of multi-year gymnasium. Illustration of attitudes to studies and relationship with oneself, authorities and with contemporaries are the main aims of the practical part. The survey deals with cognitive and emotional maturity and with the scale of significance of adolescents as well. It also should point out potential differences between evolution and maturity of boys and girls.
