Endoparasites of horses
WAGNEROVÁ, Pavla
A total of 587 faecal samples were collected from 98 horses of different age from three farms with various breeding system (pasture, stable and combination) in the South Bohemia, Czech Republic during three consecutive years (from 2009 to 2011), and screened for the presence of endoparasites, especially these inhabiting gastrointestinal tract and lung, using standard parasitological methods including flotation, sedimentation and staining methods. Moreover presence of Encephalitozoon spp. was detected using genus specific nested PCR. Small strongyles were the most common nematodes among studied horses. The age of animals was evaluated as a risk factor in relation to Eimeria leuckarti, Strongyloides westeri and Parascaris equorum infection in foals. The resistance of small strongyles (Cyathostominae) to benzimidazol anthelmintics has been revealed only on one of the visited farm. Most of examined animals were mono-infected. The breeding of horses in the stable represent management system with lowest risk in relation to parasitic infection of animals. Molecular analysis revealed the presence of human pathogenic Encephalitozoon cuniculi genotype I in horses.
INFLUENCE OF BREEDING TECHNOLOGY ON THE PRODUCTION CHARACTERISTICS OF CATTLE FIRST-CALVERS
VOBINUŠKOVÁ, Zlata
The comparison of the results of milk yield and fertility of first-calvers of Bohemian Spotted Cattle is the main aim of my thesis. Monitored cows (on the 1. lactation) were bred in different conditions (in the stanchion and free housing systems) and then housed in stanchion and free stalls production livestock barn. Comparison was made in the agricultural co-operative in Černovice u Tábora, which farms in the Region Pelhřimov district. Monitoring was carried out in 2009.
Somatic cell count in raw cow milk in relation to the used methods of mastitis prevention
MÍKOVÁ, Andrea
Graduation theses are inquired into question of somatic cell count (SCC) in row cow milk in relation to the used methods of mastitis prevention. In the year 2005 and 2006 was following values of SCC in raw cow milk in tetra breeding dairy cows. Breeds are differentating from each other with technology of breeding (horsy, summer pasture), technology of lairege and milking. SCC in bulk tank milk was determined according to ČSN EN ISO 133366 {--} 3 milk. Lowest average funds PSB (156,3 {$\cdot$} 10{$^3$} {$\cdot$} mlˉ{$^1$}) was determined in breeding with summer pasture (loos pen bedding housing). Breed with stanchion bedded housing without pasture (SCC 277,3 {$\cdot$} 10{$^3$} {$\cdot$} mlˉ{$^1$}) and breed with bedding{--}free slatted-floor housing without pasture (SCC 277,4 {$\cdot$}10{$^3$} {$\cdot$} mlˉ{$^1$}) was in a tight spot with inadequancy hygiene of stable and milking. The highest average values of SCC were determinated in loose bedded cubicle housing without pasture (289,1 {$\cdot$} 10{$^3$} {$\cdot$} mlˉ{$^1$}), where was deficiencies in feeding (feeding mouldy silage) and higher dustiness environment. We proved a statistically highly significant difference (P<0,001) between farm using summer pasture and farms without pasture. Main deficiencies in methods of mastitis prevention is that breeds doesn't use individual disposable tissue cloths for the udder wiping, farms doesn't use preddiping, inadequancy in hygiene of lairege and milking, feeding mouldy silage and inadequancy in ransack confirmed dairy cows. Key words: raw cow milk, somatic cell count, technology
Performance and fertility comparison of the Czech Pied cattle versus Holstein cattle with respect to technology of breeding
ŽÁČKOVÁ, Jindřiška
The observation of cattle breeding before and after monitoring resuets of stable technology from stanchion housing to free box housing with bedding was procceded from 2003 to 2006 in agricultural cooperative Netřebice. There were observed 169 dairy cows, 120 pieces of Holstein and 49 pieces of Czech Pied cattle. The influence of technology change was specified on the basis of milk testing and fertility results. Milk performance in free box housing system reached higher level than in stanchion housing. Reproduction parameters reached mostly better figures in the free box housing.
ECONOMIC IMPACTS OF THE INCREASING REQUIEREMENTS IN PROVIDING WELFARE OF LIVESTOCK.
Skalníková, Věra ; Šíma, Josef (advisor) ; Štěpánková, Kateřina (referee)
This diploma thesis deals with legislative regulations in providing welfare (well-being) and health of animals. The impuls for this diploma are the cattle breeders facing to increasing requierements targeting the provision of welfare of livestock. These requirements are leading to changes especially in the field of the production technology in case of both newly installed and exististing breeding technology. The changes mentioned above result from directives adopted in the European Union and are implemented to the Czech legislation. The main attention is concentrated on the issue of welfare and health of animals in the stock of layers and beef-cattles or more precisely in the stock of dairy cattles. The essence of the diploma thesis consists in the analysis of economic consequences of implemented regulations for breeders of mentioned animal husbandry in the Czech Republic. Economic analysis considers costs and economic effectiveness of new technology and the distrbution shed use for farms.
