Slope movement analysis in the northwestern part of the Příhrazská plošina platform and evaluation of sandstone properties relative to the stability situation
Vorlíček, Petr ; Blahůt, Jan (advisor) ; Vařilová, Zuzana (referee)
The Northwestern part of the Příhrazská platform is known for its processes, the first scientifically studied movement occurred here in 1926 and had catastrophic consequences. This work deals with the evaluation of the selected continuous slope movements in the north- western part of Příhrazská platform and builds on previous measurements. The measured movements are compared with meteorological data, with the surrounding hydrogeological borehole data, and compared with other monitoring site in the vicinity. In the second part, the work focuses on clarifying the problem of the increased susceptibility of the monitored rock tower for weathering and comparison of the properties of sandstone material from this tower with surrounding sandstones from the vicinity and other localities. Attention is especially paid to the influence of the biological crusts, whose significant influence is confirmed. For the investigation field and laboratory methods were used in combination with the use of computer programs.
Slope stability of Jizera river valley slopes in Semily region
Kujan, Ondřej ; Novotný, Jan (advisor) ; Vybíral, Roman (referee)
The thesis deals with slope stability of a landslide "U Čtrnácti pomocníků", which is located in the north-eastern part of the city Semily in the Liberec district. The thesis is divided into theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part was carried out literature search on the issue and the natural conditions around the wider area of interest. The practical part consists of individual sections within which the research were conducted archival documentation, mapping areas of interest, own technical work, sampling and geophysical measurements and laboratory work and stability calculations. Also the engineering geological model of the landslide was created. The results of the practical part are used as the basis for the final engineering geological evaluation of this area.
Classification of landslides in selected areas of the Ethiopian Highland
Schreiberová, Kateřina ; Vilímek, Vít (advisor) ; Kusák, Michal (referee)
CLASSIFICATION OF LANDSLIDES IN SELECTED AREAS OF THE ETHIOPIAN HIGHLAND ABSTRACT This thesis is an introduction to landslides and how they are triggered and occur on the tectonic pattern in the Ethiopian Highland, which borders with the Great Rift Valley. Included in this thesis are types of classifications of landslides. Especially on base of the main mechanics of mass wasting movement are the landslides classified in investigation part. The methodology of landslide investigation is based on remote sensing. Further discussed is the methodology used in landslide investigation in general, as well as the causes of downhill movements in landslide prone areas of the Ethiopian Highland. Keywords: landslides, Ethiopian Highland, remote sensing, elevation
The susceptibility analysis of slope movements in the Jemma River basin (Ethiopian Highland)
Maca, Vít ; Vilímek, Vít (advisor) ; Kusák, Michal (referee)
Ethiopia like other developing countries depends on domestic agricultural production, struggling with infrastructure and healthcare is also at a low level. Among these factors there is also added impact of catastrophic natural processes. Landslides in this area have caused enormous material damage and also human deaths. Effects of those losses are huge and locals are dealing with them difficuly. Therefore, prevention should be a priority concern. In theoretical part the basic facts about modeling and simulation of landslides susceptibility is presented. Those facts are complemented with specific researches from Ethiopian highlands. Furthermore, it describes the methodology that was used. It compares the real distribution of slope movements against the expected occurrence across the classes of input layers. An essential part of the model is mapping work, supported with terrain work, during which 242 landslides was mapped. Model parameters are: slope, altitude, lithology, land cover, distance from geological boundary and distance to river. Slope was determined as most significant factor. Used methodology is universally applicable and the results it generates match reality well. Key words: slope movements, natural hazards, susceptibility analysis, geomorphology, Ethiopian Highland
Slope movements in Semily region
Kujan, Ondřej ; Novotný, Jan (advisor) ; Kudrna, Zdeněk (referee)
In this thesis author deals with slope movements affecting the area around the river Jizera near the town Semily in Liberecký region. The aim of the work is to gather available resources and evaluate the results of research carried out so far in this area. Author also tries to point out the threat of some partially built-up slopes. They could be activated in the future for example by influence of increased precipitation or imprudent human activity.
Dynamics and spatial extension of recent landslides at the foot of Krušné Hory Mts.
Burda, Jan ; Vilímek, Vít (advisor) ; Kirchner, Karel (referee) ; Šilhán, Karel (referee)
Dynamika a rozšíření recentních svahových pohybů na úpatí Krušných hor | Abstrackt 1 ABSTRACT Recent mass movements currently comprise one of the main morphogenetic processes in the extensive anthropogenic relief of the foreground of the Krušné Hory Mountains in the Czech Republic. These mass movements result in several types of deep- seated slope failures, depending on the type of movement, lithological, structural, and geotechnical conditions and the water saturation of the landslide material. This thesis presents broad set of various methods of geomorphology, geophysics, engineering geology, dendrogeomorphology and geodesy in an attempt to fully understand the problem of slope failures in the Jezeří area located at the boundary between the Krušné Hory Mountains and the Most Basin (Czech Republic). An interdisciplinary approach has enabled an in-depth review of both the dynamics and development of recent slope failures as well as morphology and structure of slope failures. There are two sectors - Southeast and Southwest - with different types of slope failures. In the Southwest sector, mass movements occur in thick colluvial mantle and weathered Tertiary claystones. The main factors influencing their development include rainfall culminations, groundwater flowing from the valley of Šramnický Brook and...
Slope deformations in the Bohemian Paradise - research, typology and conditions of origin
Merlíčková, Soňa ; Hartvich, Filip (advisor) ; Blahůt, Jan (referee)
This thesis deals with occurrence, conditions and character of slope deformations in the Protected landscape area (CHKO) Český ráj. This area is typically formed by sandstones, marls and claystones. Together with tectonic structures and lateral erosion of the Jizera River, they form suitable conditions for slope movements such as rockfall, sliding etc. With help extensive use of the scientific literature, character of study area as well as general conditions for the development of slope movements were described, and their typological classification was established. Next part of the thesis includes the chapters on the methods of research, and a description of the preliminary field research of the model localities. Furthermore, an analysis of causes of the slope movements using the data on climate from the stations of Czech hydro-meteorological institute was performed. Finally, the results are discussed with the referenced sources and conclusions to the topic are formulated. Keywords: CHKO Český ráj, slope movements, slope deformations, tectonics, lateral erosion, land-slide, rockfall, Lužický fault

Engineering geological survey evaluation of area affected by lanslides in Budkovice
Prechtlová, Kateřina ; Paseka, Antonín (referee) ; Erbenová, Alexandra (advisor)
This Thesis deals with evaluation of engineer-geological survey of area affected by landslides near Budkovice. The area of interest is situated in the south part of Boskovická brázda on the left bank of the river Rokytná. The Thesis first outlines the problems of slope movements in general: why it’s appropriate to study them, what factors play role in their creation, what areas are prone to their creation, how to proceed with engineer-geological survey and how the slope stability is solved. Next itfocuses on the above mentioned landslide in village Budkovice. Geology and hydrogeology of the area of interest were studied. Carried out survey works were summarized. I became familiar with their results and outputs.Friction angle of the residual strength on the slip plane was calculated using Pettersson’s method, it’s value was 11,27°. Simple geological cuts though the slope area and calculation cut were made. Groundwater level was measured on the preserved drill holes and it was compared with former values.
