Folk songs from the thematic viewpoint

The aim of this bachelor's thesis is to provide a detailed overview about topics which occur in Czech folk songs. The basis for constructing conclusions is the analysis of songs present in Jindřich's reworked edition of a collection Nápěvy písní národních v Čechách, authored by a poet Karel Jaromír Erben and a composer J. P. Michael Martinovský. The practical part is preceded by a theoretical part, in which basic findings about the problematics of folk culture, more closely focusing on folk song, are formulated.

Linguistic Picture of Devil / Deuce in Czech Folk Tales

This bachelor thesis represents the ethnolinguistic field of linguistic study, with its subject matter being the genre of Czech folk tales. This genre is analysed based on the collection of Czech folk tales titled České pohádky (Drda, 1985). The analysis presents the view of the world in the perspective of a Czech native speaker - the linguistic picture of the deuce / devil in Czech folk tales, particularly based on Drda's work. The theoretical section of this thesis presents terms from the ethnolinguistic, sociological, and literary science fields of study. This section also establishes the methodology used for the purpose of this thesis in the context of linguistic research. In the practical section, the thesis presents an analysis in the form of a corpus of excerpts organised categorically by their semantic properties. This corpus serves as the starting point and allows the thesis to present tables of attributes organised by facets.

Selected Fairy-tale Creatures and Their Stereotyped Perception of Attributes by Czech Children

This Bachelor thesis deals with stereotypical perception of fairy tale characters by Czech children. It analyses the concepts of stereotype and folklore. The characters which are being observed are specifically the princess and the witch. Those characters are defined according to czech dictionaries. Moreover, they are presented with the aid of literature writings by concrete authors. Practical part is composed of survey interview which provides information about how are the fairy tales character's attributes, activities and status percieved by Czech children based on their knowledge of Czech fairy tales.

Work in children's folklore ensemble with preschool children

The bachelor work is divided into two parts - theoretical and practical. The aim of my work is pointing out possibility of using folklore during work with preschool children. In the theoretical part I attend to basic introduction the folklore of the South Bohemia and of the West Bohemia forcefully on "Blaťácký" folklore, its gatherers and possibilities in education process. In the practical part I describe work with preschool children within the frame of children's folklore group "Javoráček". Experiences from work in folklore group I apply in create integrated whole named "Malí muzikanti", which I try to realise with preschool children in kindergarten.

Mountains of laundry

This bachelor thesis Mountains of Laundry aims to look into a three-way relationship among human, landscape and textile, their meanings and mutual influence. Individual chapters dedicated to the art of textile, to respecting traditions as a cultural heritage of the past and its persisting values for today's society, to the way a landscape influences human behaviour and to the actual art interpretation of Mountains of Laundry, they also attempt to depict my personal relationship to cloth. This thesis follows the phenomenon of the gradual return of a textile media into contemporary Czech art and through soft-material pieces of art of particular artists it seeks one specific denominator as well as various grasps of this field. Interviews with designer Tereza Rosalie Kladošová and artist Daniela Mikulášková reveal motivations of artists who work with textile media in applied arts as well as free arts, and they also refer to an issue of necessity to create borders between these two art forms. The way of grasping a tradition linked to a specific region or landscape refers to personal experience in the practical part. PhDr. Ivan Klimeš Abstract: The subject of this diploma thesis is a reflection on the possible uses of spoken language in films aimed at dialect as one of the substandard forms of Czech national language. In particular, the thesis focuses on the use of Moravian dialectal elements in the language of the film characters in Czech acted cinema made in the 1930s and 1940s. It evaluates the Moravian applied dialect from the phonetic and lexical point of view and analyses its function. The aim of the thesis is an evaluation and generalization of the possible uses of dialectal elements in cinematographic work. Children Folklor Ensembles in Prague

TITLE: Children's Folkloric Groups in Prague ABSTRACT: This thesis focuses on children's folkloric groups in Prague. In my thesis I chart individual children's folkloric groups in Prague and identify ethnographic regions of the Czech Republic covered by these groups. Another aim of my thesis is to collect information concerning organization of these folkloric groups. I describe various motivations of their leaders and founders. Using interview method, I determine why they put efforts in folkloric groups, describe their opinions on what such groups can bring to children and difficulties they encounter. Finally, my aim is to determine children's motivation to take active part in folkloric groups and folklore itself. In my thesis I use research methods - qualitative and quantitative research.
