Applications of dendrochronology in hydrology and fluvial geomorphology
Šálek, Oldřich ; Treml, Václav (advisor) ; Svoboda, Pavel (referee)
Hydrological phenomena are natural processes that shape the landscape around us in the long-term and in some cases threaten our property or health. Dendrochronology is one of the methods of research of these phenomena and reconstruction of past hydrological events, that can be then used to predict and plan security measures in the future. The possibility of using a variety of dendrochronological methods in applied research, we can see in the meta-analysis of scientific studies available in electronic and printed form. The main finding of meta-analysis is a significant geographical disproportion in dendrohydrological survey. It also introduces a wide range of indicators, which are observed in various hydrological phenomena and also demonstrates application of dendrohydrological methods on specific studies.
Development of masonry systems with utilization in flood areas
Fabiánková, Aneta ; Sedlmajer, Martin (referee) ; Zach, Jiří (advisor)
Thesis describes the system of masonry structures in floodareas. It is based on liteature review of floods, mapping mansonry load during floods, dyinig after the passage of the flood wave solutions and water impermeability construction to prevent degradation and destruction. The main part is the design of the wall, which connectes hydrophobic individual elements of construction to provide resistence during floods. The diploma thesis includes practical verification of the functionality of a complete proposal to ensure the smallest possible water absorption caúitaly of the structure.
Effect of flooding régime on the growth of Carex acuta in a mesocosm experiment
JANUŠ, Vojtěch
This MCs thesis is part of the Grant Agency of Czech Republic GACR P504/11/1151 The role of plants in bilance of greenhouse gases in Carex fens. The results of this project will serve as a basis for another analyses of greenhouse gases in natural wetland biotops. Growth and morphological changes of Carex acuta were monitored in mesocosm experiment durig the growing seson. Carex acuta has already been the subjekt of numerous studies. The aim of this study is to compare the growth rate of plants C. acuta grown under controlled conditions, simulating different regimes of flooding habitat. Number of shoots and maximum plant height were observed during the growing season. Destructive method has been used to fall aboveground and belowground biomass in autumn. Elevated water levels in the middle of the growing season caused a slowdown in growth in height and the creation of new shoots. Reduced water level of the mid-growing season seemed to faster growth of plants in height. Underground biomass significantly negatively affected by increased water level in the middle of the growing season.
Possibilities of building of hydrophobized masonty structures in flood areas
Fabiánková, Aneta ; Stančík,, Hynek (referee) ; Zach, Jiří (advisor)
The work describes development of hydrophobic flooting masonry for use in floodareas. The kontent of the bachelor thesis is realizing of a literaturere view in area of mapping masonry load during floods and solution of construction to prevent degradation and destruction. Also, to designe hydrophobizing products and construction technology to ensure tightness during floods. The work includes theoretical verification of functionality of hydrophobizing products and waterproof of wallsway to ensure the least possible absorption of construcion.

The analysis of the utilization of farm machinery used to repair damage caused by flash flooding.
TOMKOVÁ, Kristýna
The aim of thesis is to simplify decision making in the aftermath of the floods caused by torrential rain. The thesis gives basic information about utilization of farm machinery, auxiliary working adapters and traffic appliance suitable for realization of work plans to remove the flooding consequences, because after natural disasters is not important quality of technique, but knowledge of the use of technology.
Assessment of anthropogenic changes of the riverbed of Blanice river under Husinec reservoir since 1945 and its impact on the flood situation
ČAMPULKA, Martin
This bachelor thesis focuses on anthropogenic changes of the flow of South Bohemian river Blanice and their influence on potential floodings. For the purpose of my thesis, the part of the river was chosen, which begins at the bridge (the road 142) by "U Skuhrů" locality and ends under the "Husinecká přehrada" dam. Within the frame of the thesis, the defined part of the river was monitored, the observed parameters were recorded, processed and evaluated. The mapping of the chosen area shows naturally close relation between the position of the Blanice river in the monitored area and the possible engagement of the river meadow in the flooding process. It was found out that there is unsatisfactory antiflooding protection in municipalities as their intravian is in the river Blanice meadow but on the other hand, there is effort to try to solve this situation.
Occurrence of Common Kingfisher on the Blanice river and the effect of modification of the riverbed on its ecotope
KAŠTÁNKOVÁ, Veronika
This bachelor thesis deals with the monitoring of kingfisher presence in the natural as well as modified biotope in certain sector of the Blanice river´s flow. The chosen section is a part of the Blanice river beginning before Bavorov village by ?U Skuhrů? locality and ending under the Husinecká přehrada dam. This work focuses on floodings, antiflooding modification and its influence on kingfisher biotope. Processing this bachelor thesis, it was found out that 5,6 % of the left and 5,1 % of the right bank of the focused part of the river show features of antropogenic adaptation. It was also found out, that 30 % of the chosen part of the river have appropriate conditions for kingfisher nesting. In these parts of the river, there were found altogether 25 unoccupied remainders of old nests and 3 occupied nests. The most suitable locality for kingfisher nesting from all monitored areas is in the natural part between the villages of Blanice and Strunkovice nad Blanicí. One of the occupied nests was found in anthropogenicly modified part of the river flow in the village of Husinec. It was 50 metres far from the river in the steep hillside. The banks of the river in this area were strengthened after the floodings by stone from quarries and the stream bed was artificially straightened.
The analysis of the utilization of farm machinery used to repair damage caused by flash flooding.
KULHÁNEK, Pavel
The aim of the thesis is to analyse possible consequences caused by flash flooding and the work that is needed to repair the damage. The thesis gives basic information about utilization of farm machinery, auxiliary working adapters and traffic appliance suitable for realization of work plans to remove the flooding consequences. The thesis should help accredited authority with decision making and with repairing and securing the consequences caused by flooding.
Ecological constraints limiting the root-sprouting ability in wetland plant species
SOSNOVÁ, Monika
Wetland plant species rely largely on vegetative reproduction. Although all types of clonal growth organs are found in wetlands, special adaptations, e.g., turions, fragmentation and budding, are more frequent in true aquatic communities. However, root-sprouting is underrepresented, although it can be beneficial under disturbed conditions. This thesis focuses on ecological constrains potentially hindering root-sprouting in wetlands. This ability was studied in a wetland herb Rorippa palustris in relation to life history, injury timing and carbon economy of a plant. In addition, plant regeneration following submergence and severe disturbance was assessed.
