Study on the content of hazardous waste in municipal waste in CR

It is quite complicated to evaluate the hazardous waste production and management because the terminology is inconsistent and the legislation differs across countries. This makes it very difficult to compare data among countries and even within the same one. Hence the same data may vary by several tens of percent if they are generated according to different directives. This work deals with evaluation of the production of hazardous waste belonging to the group 20 in Catalogue of wastes. The total production of the hazardous waste from municipalities and citizens (households) is evaluated over a period 2008 - 2011 and the production in the capital city of Prague is for a term of 2006 - 2012. All the types of hazardous waste of the group 20 in Catalogue of wastes cannot be treated individually, due to their high number, and therefore they were arranged into seven groups, which were further processed statistically. The dominant component in both test cases is paint, the total production contains also big amount of electrical waste, fluorescent lamps and batteries. An important part of this work is to compare the composition of household waste originating from three different types of installations - housing estates, mixed and rural. The utilization of waste from electrical and electronical equipments

This work deals with processing electric and electronic devices, which are marked as WEEE. It contains legislative frame of processing electric and electronic devices. Then it describes basic technology of processing electrowaste. The separative processes during the recyclation of WEEE are highlighted because of the electrowaste material complexity. There is also the possibilty of using material obtained from WEEE to prepare chemicals for the wood and other material protection which is mentioned in the final part of thesis.

Hodnocení vybraných rizikových vlastností elektroodpadu

The topic of thesis is assessment of heavy metals in selected electronic waste (LCD SONY TV). The introduction describes the legislation and the current state of, return, separate collection, handling and disposal of electrical waste in the Czech Republic. The thesis deals with televisions and monitors with LCD technology focused on description and composition. The results of scientific research in the field of recycling LDC monitors instead of landfill or incineration are an important part. The practical part describes the methodology and results of the experiment, which was made in the spring of 2013. Heavy metals were measured spectrophotometer leachate analysis. The results were compared with the requirements of legislation and the waste was added to leach class. Comparison of heavy metal concentrations in CRT and LCD TV is made in the discussion.

Analýza složení komunálního odpadu se zaměřením na využitelné složky ve městech Ivančice a Rosice

This thesis deals with the issues of waste management in Ivančice and Rosice. It contains several parts. The first part relates to legislation, legal regulations and different ways of dealing with waste. In this work, a few of the basic concepts stemming from the Law of Waste were also explained, such as the concept of waste, municipal waste, dangerous waste, household waste and so on. The next part is focused on waste management in two selected cities, where these are being put forward. This work is focused on the production of municipal and recyclable waste. Evaluation of the data was conducted for the period of 2010 -- 2012. This examination was mainly focused on the total production of municipal waste for this period, and subsequently the municipal waste production of Ivančice was compared to the town of Rosice and finally to the whole of the Czech Republic, where data was recalculated per person. Finally the recyclable waste collection data was also considered and lastly, the waste management in both cities was being investigated.

ICT scrap and recycling

The objective of this thesis is to find an optimal solution for recycling and ICT scrap take-back. In order to attain this target a thorough analysis of ICT scrap recycling's current conditions was conducted. This work also examined recycling facilities dealing with ICT scrap and analysed recyclers based on defined criterions and the best one was chosen. Furthermore products' content was analysed and suggestions were made to optimise its content and eliminate contained dangerous substances having negative impact on the environment and scrapyard operators. Once analysis of take-back schemes in the Czech Republic had been done a new model of take-back system was introduced. This model should be able to achieve nearly 100% return rate of purchased ICT products.

Dangerous substances in electrical apparatus

The diploma thesis deals with the influence of dangerous substances in electric aparatus on environment and also on human. The aim of this diploma thesis is to describe toxicological characteristics of dangerous substances in electric apparaus and to find out people´s awareness about electro apparatus hazardousness and electric waste by mean of questionnaires. The thesis first descibe the laws concerning this problem either from the view of dangerous substances or from the view of dangerous waste. Furthermore in the thesis the data taken out of two age groups by questionnaires were elaborated. The questionnaires were focused on the knowledge of dangerous substances and dangerous waste. Toxicological characteristics of dangrous metals are also descbibed in this part.
