Properties of Reclaimed Asphalt Pavement Formed by Milling in Layers
Vavro, Filip ; Hýzl, Petr (referee) ; Šperka, Pavel (advisor)
The bachelor thesis focuses on assessing the properties of R-material, which originated from separate milling of asphalt pavement layers, and evaluating the influence of layer milling on the properties of R-material. The theoretical part of the thesis discusses the issues related to R-material. The practical part involves assessing the grain size lines of individual materials, extracting asphalt binder from samples, and conducting tests on the subsequently obtained binder.
Properties of binders recovered from the wearing course of the test section
Skalková, Daniela ; Hýzl, Petr (referee) ; Dašek, Ondřej (advisor)
Subject of this bachelor’s thesis is, after seven years of use, the binders will be recovered from the cores taken on the test section, which is created from a wearing course composed of an asphalt mixture of the stone mastic asphalt type with reclaimed asphalt. The properties of the recovered binders will be evaluated using appropriately selected laboratory tests. The theoretical part deals with the aging of paving and polymer-modified bitumens, empirical and functional tests of asphalt binders are also described. The practical part contains the results of needle penetration tests, softening point using the ring-ball method and tests on a dynamic shear rheometer.
Laboratory simulation of mixing PMB with reclaimed asphalt binder
Javorová, Marie ; Šperka, Pavel (referee) ; Dašek, Ondřej (advisor)
This thesis deals with the findings of the properties of the bituminous binder blends made by mixing the polymer modified bitumen with the hard paving bitumen in a range of proportions. This simulates production of the asphalt mixture with PMB containing RAP. The theoretical part describes the properties of the bituminous binder, polymer modified binders and the tests examining their properties and the principles of bitumen ageing. In the practical part the properties of mixed binders are determined using laboratory tests. The determined characteristics are then compared with the short-term aged binder according to the RTFOT method.
Use of R-material in asphalt mixtures with highly modified binder (HiMA)
Christ, Roman ; Dašek, Ondřej (referee) ; Hýzl, Petr (advisor)
The subject of this diploma thesis is paid attention to the influence of different dosing of R-material containing unmodified asphalt on the properties of asphalt concrete for abrasive layers (AC011 +) bonded with polymer highly modified asphalt (binder type HiMA). The properties of asphalt mixtures will be evaluated by means of the stiffness modulus test and the test of low-temperature properties by a uniaxial tensile test.
Properties of asphalt mixtures with RAP
Trnka, Lukáš ; Coufalíková, Iva (referee) ; Dašek, Ondřej (advisor)
The bachelor thesis deals with the properties of asphalt mixtures with reclaimed asphalt. Possibilities of rejuvenate of binder contained in reclaimed asphalt are mentioned in the theoretical part. There is explained the principle of rejuvenators function, types of rejuvenators and ways of rejuvenators dosing into the asphalt mixture. The procedures for performing the stiffness modulus test (2PB-TR) and the low temperature (TSRST) test are described in the following part. Individual tests are evaluated and asphalt mixtures are compared in the practical part of bachelor thesis.
New trends in the construction of flexible pavements
Palátová, Marcela ; Špaček, Petr (referee) ; Hýzl, Petr (advisor)
The aim of this thesis is to introduce innovations and trends in the construction of flexible pavement layers, which are used abroad. The paper is focused on some surfaces, which help to reduce noise pollution from traffic, and binders, which are based on natural ingredients called bioasphalt. It provides an information summary of increasing share of reclaimed asphalt in bituminous mixtures and introduces possible procedures that could lead to an increase in pavement life.
Stone mastic asphalts with recycled materials - bituminous binders properties
Dzurková, Veronika ; Coufalíková, Iva (referee) ; Hýzl, Petr (advisor)
The bachelor thesis is focused on the issue of adding R-material to stone mastic asphalt mixtures (SMA). The material was obtained from a plant that put the mixture in the test section on the road II/227. The theoretical part describes the problems of recycling of asphalt roads, bituminal binder theory and problems associated with the addition of R-material to hot asphalt mixtures. Bituminal binders from mixtures with different percentages of R-material were extracted in the practical part. Empirical and functional tests were performed on these binders. The aim of the thesis is to determine the influence of the presence of R-material on SMA asphalt mixture in terms of properties of asphalt binder.
Usage of polymer modified bitumens and rejuvenators in asphalt mixtures
Maláník, Stanislav ; Hýzl, Petr (referee) ; Dašek, Ondřej (advisor)
Diploma thesis deals with the influence of various dosing of Reclaimed asphalt pavement (RAP) using modified bitumen on the properties of asphalt concrete (ACO 11+) of cemented by polymer modified bitumen, while a rejuvenating agents are added into asphalt mixtures. The theoretical part of the thesis summarizes the basic knowledge of pavement recycling, polymer modified bitumens and their reuse in asphalt mixtures. The practical part deals with laboratory tests of ACO 11+ mixtures with the RAP proportion of 0 % to 50 %. The asphalt mixtures compared are evaluated by means of the Thermal Stress Restrained Specimen Test (TSRST) and Stiffness test. The results obtained within the diploma thesis can approximate the issue of recycling of asphalt mixtures with polymer modified bitumens.
Recycling of asphalt mixtures for low-traffic roads
Musil, Lukáš ; Dašek, Ondřej (referee) ; Varaus, Michal (advisor)
This bachelor's thesis deals with 100% pure recycling by method of hot mix asphalt recycling using a rejuvenating additive (so-called rejuvenator) for the device development in cooperation with an external company. The aim of bachelor's thesis is to determine the amount of dosing of the rejuvenator and to determine the compaction temperature for the processing the asphalt mixture. On the basis of determining the properties of the reclaimed asphalt pavement, by means of tests in the laboratory. According to the determined properties of the reclaimed asphalt pavement, the percentage of rejuvenator required to achieve the required properties of the asphalt mixture for subsequent processing and laying on the road.
The usage of asphalt and concrete recycled materials to roads
Svrčina, Vít ; Valentin, Jan (referee) ; Stehlík, Dušan (advisor)
Currently it is important to address the re-use of building materials from construction reconstructed or upgraded roads. Commonly used technologies cold and hot asphalt recycling are starting using to complement with technologies using cold asphalt mixtures with rejuvinators or softeners. This type of asphalt mixtures could be used in pavement constructions with lower traffic load. This thesis deals with the design and laboratory assessment of unbound and bound mixtures R-material and recycled concrete. This thesis is experimentally testing the possibility of using functional tests to optimize the design of asphalt mixture with 100% representation of R-material with a possible revival of asphalt emulsion with a rejuvenator.
