Gallery Jiri Svestka: 1995-2010 The aim of the bachelor thesis is appraisal of activity of the Gallery Jiri Svestka in years since 1995 to 2010 czech environment. The first part is dedicated to the life and personality of Jiří Švestka. Subsequently the thesis gives an attention to the gallery itself. The thesis will emphasize its activities in Czech Republic and abroad, especially the exhibitions. The thesis will compare the gallery Jiri Svestka with other similar czech private galleries. Vincenc Kramar collection or the project "Literary Tends" will be mentioned as well. With respect to abroad activities the gallery shares various international art fairs. The thesis will also present Gallery Jiri Svestka`s buildings and its artists, as well. In conclusion the thesis will essay define the position of the Gallery Jiri Svestka and point out its importance in czech art environment. The thesis will include a list of exhibitions on which the gallery tool part, list of the international art fairs, which the gallery took part in and list of the artists with whom coperated.
The Personality of Josef Fanta and his Art Nouveau works

The Personality of Josef Fanta and his Art Nouveau works This thesis will deal with the personality and Art Nouveau works of Josef Fanta, who lived from 1856 to 1954. In the first part, the thesis approaches the personality of Josef Fanta and outlines his style of historicism. The main part of the thesis will focus on Fanta's works influenced by Art Nouveau during the period 1897-1932. First, it will deal with his Art Nouveau buildings in Prague and also outside the Capital. Attention will be focused on the Railway Station building of Franz Joseph in Prague, today's main railway station, the Hlahol building and the Cairn of Peace Memorial. This thesis also introduces Fanta's tombs, headstones and memorials. The thesis touch on his rebuilding of old historical buldings and his influence within interior design, particulary his designs in the Austrian pavilion at the 1900 Exposition Universelle in Paris and his decorations for the visit of Franz Joseph to Prague in 1907. Lastly, this thesis will try to define Fanta's motifs in the Art Nouveau style and his interpretation of Art Nouveau. Somnambulism, medium drawing and other borderline mental phenomena as the inspiration for art

The thesis deals with influence of somnambulism, medium drawing and other borderline mental phenomena, for example hysteria or epilepsy, as inspirational sources on art production. It pursues thematical aspect and also the form of work of art. The first part looks at the contemporary cultural context with stress on style symbolism. It defines the concepts in question. The second part is dedicated to the manner of depiction of the concepts in Czech art. The thesis studies them particularly from the late 19th century until the First World War, and also the rest of the first half of the 20th century. The last part comprises five case studies of Czech artists. We can see in their work references to and influences from the concepts the thesis examines.
