The influence of media agenda on public agenda in the Czech Republic

This Bachelor thesis is based on the theoretical foundations of the agenda-setting theory, especifically the section describing the influence of media on public opinion. The main objective of this work is to verify the hypothesis that the theoretical assumptions of the impact of media on public opinion formulated by agenda-setting theory are valid in the media and public space in the Czech Republic and to verify the homogeneity of the contents of agendas of different media and individual agendas across different time periods. A content analysis method is employed in the empirical part along with the results of opinion polls within a limited timeframe. Content analysis aims at those articles, which are showed to be the most important in selected media. The following Czech media have been chosen for the analysis: Česká televize, Český rozhlas Radiožurnál, MF DNES and Právo. It was carried out on three time periods sectors between 12th December 2013 and 2nd March 2014. The results of opinion polls realized after the end of time involved in the content analysis were used for further analysis.
