Process towards Opposition Agreement
Hakauf, Martin ; Bureš, Jan (advisor) ; Koubek, Jiří (referee)
The thesis deals with causes of formation of the opposition agreement between ODS and ČSSD. The roots of this phenomena are analyzed in many respects, carefully based on study of relevant sources, in particular period press and on interviews with individual participants of political events of the time. I verify the supposition that the main cause was bad experience of ODS from previous coalition cabinet, because of it's significant under-representation and personal disputes among members of this cabinet. More proportion results of parliamentary election and immediate unwillingness of US and KDU-ČSL to participate in the potential coalition cabinet either with ODS or ČSSD was analyzed as further causes of opossition agreement. This conclusion is also an answer to research question if there would be an other solution after early election in 1998. The answer is naturally no. Key words: coalition cabinet, opposition agreement, governmental crisis, V. Klaus, M. Zeman
