Present Male Spirituality -The Concept of Richard Rohr
Knězů, Vojtěch ; Lachman, Jan (advisor) ; Glogar, Petr (referee)
Uncertainty of the world, pressure of the consuming society, inappropriate emphasis on success, and other factors lead many western people to the sense of meaninglessness. It is also evident from life of men who are not able to bear the responsibility for their deeds, brign up the children and share life experience. Their true self is often overwhelmed by pursuit of power, prestige or property. Present male spirituality tries to grasp these problems. The aim of this work is to introduce the themes of this spiritual movenment: the need for rituals, fatherhood, relationships of women and men, need for contemplation and related social action. The heterogeneity of the themes determines overlapping of this work with other theological disciplines such as biblical theology, psychology of religion and religious studies. The choice of the themes and the general point of view on the male spirituality stems from the concept of Richard Rohr, an American Franciscan, who is the leading personality of the recent male spiritual movement.
