Cultural and ideological specifics of Turkey and EU accession

This thesis refers to the particular cultural and ideological specifics in Turkey. Firstly, it tries to find the answer to the question if there is any special importance of these specifics for the EU accession. Secondly, it tries to find out how crucial particular specifics such as different religion or an ideology of kemalism are for this accession.

The political conditionality of the accession to the EU and candidate’s country reaction: the case of Turkey

This thesis refers to the fulfilment of the political criteria for the accession of Turkey to the EU on the basis of information gained from the annual progress reports which are published by European Commission. At the same time, it tries to find the answer to the question, if the numerous EU reproaches impact productive or contraproductive relating Turkey as the candidate for accession to the EU and in which manner these objections involve the opinion of the Turkish political elites and Turkish public opinion on the accession to the EU.
