Reaction of surface water and groundwater to the hydrological drought in 2015-2018 in the Upper Lužnice river
Husarik, Pavel ; Burian, Alois (advisor) ; Šobr, Miroslav (referee)
The Bachelor's thesis focuses on the examination of drought as an extreme and complex phenomenon. It provides a clear overview of its types, causes, and impacts on the landscape and society. Furthermore, it discusses the response of surface and groundwater to dry periods. The theoretical conclusion specifically analyzes the period of hydrological drought in the Czech Republic between 2015 and 2018. In the practical part, the characteristics of monthly and annual discharges are evaluated, and the response of surface and groundwater is assessed using data. Data from both surface and groundwater, as well as precipitation totals from the ČHMÚ (Czech Hydrometeorological Institute) observation network, were utilized. Average precipitation totals were also taken into account. The evaluation of time series was performed in terms of precipitation-runoff regime, including exceedance lines and monthly flow distributions. The results indicated that the lowest average flows were recorded in 2018, which also saw the lowest average groundwater level. Conversely, the highest number of dry days occurred in the studied period in 2015. Keywords: surface water, groundwater, hydrological drought, the upper Lužnice river
Hydrological drought in 2022: Case study of the Lužnice River and Bouřlivec River Basins
Hajný, Vojtěch ; Šobr, Miroslav (advisor) ; Burian, Alois (referee)
This bachelor thesis is focused on evaluating the issue of hydrological drought on Lužnice River and Bouřlivec River Basins in 2022. The first part of the thesis is focused on solving the topic of drought, its classification and causes. The next part of the work deals with a general assessment of the hydrological drought in Europe in 2022, its impacts in specific countries and the indicators used to measure it. The practical part is a key part, dealing with the evaluation of hydrological drought in the areas of interest in 2022 using the threshold level concept, deficit volumes and drought indices. The analysis is carried out on the basis of the provided flow data from the Pilař and Bechyně profiles in Lužnice River and Lahošť and Duchcov in the Bouřlivec basin. Based on the resulting values, the year 2022 is compared with previous years and placed in the context of long-term drought observation. The results show that the drought in 2022 was severe but not very ignificant in the long-term monitoring. In terms of the number of dry days and insufficient volumes, the hydrological drought in the Bouřlivec basin was more pronounced than in Lužnice River, where it was accompanied by lower flows. Key words: hydrological drought, Lužnice River, Bouřlivec River
Runoff régime focusing on hydrological drought in the catchment area of Liboc river
Juha, Ondřej ; Janský, Bohumír (advisor) ; Burian, Alois (referee)
Drought has been a hot topic for several years. Hydrological drought occurs primarily after the previous lack of rainfall. The basin of the Liboc River suffers from significant drought, mainly due to its location in the rain shadow of the Ore Mountains. The first part of the bachelor's thesis deals with literature research, which summarizes the physical-geographical characteristics of the area of interest. This is followed by a comprehensive research of current knowledge about drought and its types, causes and impacts. Furthermore, the precipitation-runoff process focused on local climatic conditions is described. The practical part consists of the own analysis of the obtained data using average daily flows. The dry days method and the insufficient volumes method were applied here. The period 2018-2020, when the drought was most pronounced, was selected for detailed analysis. Key words: runoff régime; hydrological drought; indicators of drought; deficit volumes; threshold limit method; impacts of hydrological drought; Liboc river
Hydrological drought in the context of climate change: Case study of the Blšanka and Loděnice basins
Burian, Alois ; Janský, Bohumír (advisor) ; Hanel, Martin (referee)
The final thesis deals with the issue of hydrological drought in the context of climate change. The basins of the Blšanka River and the Loděnice River have been suffering from water shortages in recent years, therefore they have been selected for the purposes of this final thesis. The thesis summarizes the basic principles used to estimate climate change on the water resources with emphasis on the occurrence of hydrological drought. At the same time, individual components and processes of hydrological modelling conditioning the formation of affected time series in the near (2020-2050) and far future (2070-2100) are described. A total of sixteen simulations created from the seven global climate models (GCM) of the CMIP5 project and three climate scenarios (RCP; Representative Concentration Pathways) are used. The time series of precipitation and air temperature, which have been influenced by the climate change, were derived by an advanced delta method that counts also with the change of variability. The conceptual hydrological model BILAN is used to simulate changes, due to its availability from the T. G. M. Research Institute of Water Management and its wide use in Czech conditions. The parameters of the BILAN model are calibrated based on the observed time series of both selected river basins....
Hydrological drought in the Loděnice basin
Burian, Alois ; Janský, Bohumír (advisor) ; Skála, Vít (referee)
The aim of the bachelor thesis is to analyse of the current situation of the selected basin of Loděnice which has suffered a significant drought in recent years. The first part of the thesis is a literary research which presents drought as a complex phenomenon. The literary research is based on domestic and foreign literature. The thesis describes its genesis, connections with other types of drought, indicators of drought and possible consequences. The research includes physical-geographical characteristics of the area. The practical part is based on the data obtained from the CHMI (Czech Hydrometeorological Institute) and introduces the runoff regime of Loděnice river with a focus on the period of drought in the past and now. Hydrological drought is evaluated using the threshold limit method and deficit volumes. It has been detected that the basin of Loděnice is still under the larger impact of hydrological drought, especially in August and September. Keywords: hydrological drought; runoff regime; deficit volumes; threshold limit method, Loděnice river
