Bekešová, Martina ; Chmel, Rudolf (advisor) ; Vojtech, Miloslav (referee) ; Gáfriková, Gizela (referee)
The PhD. thesis describes the editorial work of Bohuslav Tablic (1769-1832), one of the most important representatives of the first phase of Slovak National Revival, a universal intellectual, poet, translator, literary historian and theoretician, a protestant priest of Augsburg denomination and an active preserver of Czech-Slovak literary felowship. It analyzes the way Tablic published three volumes of older Slovak poetic production, namely the spiritually contemplative work of Štěpán Pilárik Sors Pilarikiana (Žilina, 1666) in the edition called Pamětné příhody Štěpána Pilaříka (Memorable Affairs of Štěpán Pilařík, Uherská Skalice, 1804), and the secular poetic production of Slovak origin from the end of the 18th century in the two volumes of Slovenští veršovci (Slovak Poets, Uherská Skalice, 1805, Vacov, 1809), where he included Czech-Slovak (and, as an exception, also two Latin) poems of known authorship - satires and contemplative poems of Ján Chrastina (1729-1799), satires and occasional poems of Ján Demian (1734-1799), occasional works of Michal Institoris Mošovský (1733-1803, his authorship is uncertain) and Augustin Doležal (1737-1802), satires of Ján Sabov - and also two anonymous songs about outlaws Jakub Surovec and Jánošík (in the second case Tablic as an editor introduced in this way the...

Vítová, Andrea ; Sgallová, Květa (advisor) ; Bekešová, Martina (referee) ; Tureček, Dalibor (referee)
The PhD thesis Poetry of the First Three Decades of the 19th Century. Starting Points and Conditions of Creation and Its Genre Composition in the Work of the Enlightenment Poetic Generation deals with poetry of the Czech national revival starting from appearance of Puchmajer's poetic school stemming from Enlightenment classicism to pieces of work created under the growing influence of romanticism in the 30ies of the 19th century. The goal of this thesis is to follow the development, transformations and mutual action of the most important lyrical and epic genres of revival poetry, in view of the contemporary role of writing in verse and of the specific conditions of creation as well as reception of poetic work in the Czech language. It assumes and verifies on specific texts that for revival authors, writing of Czech poems is especially an expression of patriotic efforts; talent and literary erudition are not a necessary predisposition of creation. The thesis analyses poetic texts and generalises the results in the form of basic features of revival poetry. Based on transformations of individual genres, the conclusions of this thesis emphasize the principal advancement which occurred in poetic creation of the national revival in the 20ies of the 19th century. Aspiring of the poems to high, more demanding...

Personality and work of Gejza Vámoš in historical, social and linguistic context
Rudenková, Sabina ; Nábělková, Mira (advisor) ; Bekešová, Martina (referee)
My thesis decribes the historical and politi cal situation in Czechoslovakia between 1918 and 1956, as illustrated in a life story of first Jewish - Slovak author Gejza Vámoš. On a historical and linquistic background I follow the most important moments ofhis work. Following the ideas of a formal literary critisism starting in the early years of Czechoslovakia coming to the controversary formulations of recent critics. I also try to formulate the rules of judging Vamoš' s expressionist style and language in close relation to his specific situation in the "literary playground". The very important role in understanding the specific features of his "asimilated jewish mentality" is part of historical section of my work. The relating unit of whole work is tragic life story of doctor Gejza Vámoš. My work is devided in four main parts. In the first part of my work I have tried to reveal the mystery of very complicated and strong personality of Gejza Vámoš. Folloving part of his correspondence with Hana Gregorova uncovers part of his friendly and unknown personality and understanding for his close ones. In second part of my work I am trying to put in a global context historical moments of Jewish inhabitants of Slovak area in the beginning of era of Czechoslovakia. I examine the moments of uniting the "diaspora" by...
