The Geostrategic Importance of Bangladesh from the Perspective of India's Foreign Policy

This master's thesis sets out to interpret relations of India and Bangladesh and the course of their foreign policies in the light of geographical, geopolitical, demographic, and other realities and new paradigms, which determine forming of their mutual relations. The aim of this thesis is to highlight the geostrategic significance of Bangladesh for India and for the development of the surrounding region. This thesis also portrays the historical role of India in the emergence of Bangladesh and their relations since 1971 until today. It also deals with the key areas of Indian foreign and security policy towards Bangladesh, including economic cooperation, cooperation in the area of defence, legal and illegal migration, local and regional connectivity, energy, and water management. Given the topicality of the subject matter, this thesis draws information primarily from official documents published by governmental agencies, research institutes and think tanks, as well as from publicly accessible agreements, memorandums, arrangements, joint statements, press releases and other reliable sources. To a limited extent, it also sources Indian, Bangladeshi, and other media. India-Israel Relations since independence with special emphasis on the post 2014 period

Throughout their histories, India and Israel have shared many similarities. However, in the mid-20th century, afterthe independenceof two states, relations between them were nowhere close to what they look like today. This was the case until the end of the Cold War; after the Soviet Union collapsed and the world ceased to be bipolar, Indiaredefined its relationship with theJewish State. With the BJP taking power, there was a significant shift in Indian attitudes toward Israel, which benefited both states. Today, both countries view each other as important economic partners and are happy to accept each other's domestic policies. The aim of this thesis is to show how relations between the two countries have normalized and improved throughout the years and how current Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his party, the BJP, are affecting these relations today. The concept of the ideal son in the funeral rituals of classical Hinduism

The role of the son is one of the key components in the society of classical Hinduism. It is the firstborn son who determines the fate of the whole family not only during their life, but also after it. The transition to the afterlife is greatly influenced by the oldest offspring, it is how he carries out mortuary rituals, the way he lives and acts that determines what realm will the deceased ancestor reach. Rites of passage, so called samskaras and the correct performance of them should cause the individual, in this case the oldest son, to carry out a good life in accordance with dharma, but the rites themself are not sufficient. In addition, there are several requirements that an ideal son has to meet. This thesis aims to present the role of the son in the funeral rituals of classical Hinduism, to examine how far this role is identical across the sources and to what extent it is coherent and where it differs. As for the puranic tradition we will be examining, Garuda Purana Saroddhara and Garuda Purana, and for the shastra tradition a Manavadharmashastra will be studied. Dalit Christians in India

Diploma paper deals with the history and current situation of Dalit Christian communities in India. It elaborates the phenomenon of mass movements, which represented a significant milestone in the history of Christianity in India. During these movements a substantial amount of untouchable castes converted to Christianity and the number of Christians multiplied. In the twentieth century Dalit Christians have become marginalized group by government measures which promised compensation benefits only for groups Hindu, Sikh and Buddhist Dalits. At the beginning of the twenty-first century Christian and Muslim communities in India are facing violent attacks made by militant Hindu groups. Since 1980s Dalit Christian communities have come together and fight for obtaining government benefits and against oppression made by churches.

This bachelor thesis aims at providing a description of the most significant Indian political parties in terms of their history, character and influence on the development of the political situation in the state. An important part of the work consists in tracing the development of the Indian political scene from the beginning of the formation of the first political groups in the early 19th century to the last Indian general election in 2009. The work contains a brief political introduction explaining the basic concepts associated with the theme.

Indian foreign policy towards the U.S. during the term of Indira Gandhi

The focus of bachelor thesis is foreign politics between India and the United States Of America in period of rule prime minister Indira Gandhi. The thesis is focused on four main fields: development of indo-american relationship; Pakistan - the origin of state Bangladesh; Soviet Union and Peoples Republic Of China. The introduction of bachelor thesis contains insight of these four fields up to the voting of prime minister Indria Gandhi in her office. The aim of the thesis is to describe development of situation of three areas as described before between the years 1966 to 1977 show political and diplomatical steps of both Indian and American governments. The conclusion of thesis contains development of these topics till nowadays.

The Image of India in the Czech Literature

(in English): This thesis deals with the image of India in Czech literature. The first part defines the basic concepts: imagology, autoimage and heteroimage, and outlines the ways in which European literature and culture created the images of India, dividing them into the British, French, German, and lastly the Czech. The following parts present the images created in Czech literature in two lines: the first are the images of the real India, i.e. namely of its nature, primitivism, poverty, and wealth, the second line shows the conceptions of the sacred India, particulary of faith, magic, and superstition. All the images are illustrated with a number of concrete textual examples of Czech poetry and prose. The conclusion evaluates the relation of the image of self to these images of the other, and summarizes their changes from the Luxembourg era so far.

Bachelor thesis sets a task to give a brief outline of the history of bengal when it was a part of the Mughal empire. It is devided into 3 parts. The first part is focused on the period when the inhabitants of Bengal were familiarizing with the new religion, with Islamism, which was coming to the Indian sub-continent and on the way it was becaming the part of the local culture. The second part describes Bengal as a part of the Mughal empire until the government was obtained by the British. And the third part depicts the mughal cultural and intellectual heritage. The current trade policy of India and its impact on Czech investors

Indian economy and trade policy have changed a lot during last 25 years. India opened to the world, became one of the emerging markets and attracted more investors. Trade policy needed to adapt to those changes. Also Czech investors are interested in Indian market and some of them already run their business in India with the help of traditional good relationships between India and Czech Republic. This thesis describes current trade policy of India, its autonomous and contractual tools, promising sectors of the Indian economy with emphasis on opportunities for Czech exporters.

The Cult and Iconography of Shiva

This thesis aims to be a comprehensive essay on the cult and iconography of one of the most significant religious and mythological symbols of the Hindu tradition. The essay is divided into three main chapters. In the first chapter, the origin of Shiva will be discussed, beginning from the pre-Arian cultures to the present days. The second chapter will describe the various faces and forms of imaging Shiva, his iconic and aniconic shapes, as well as his attributes and their symbolism.
