Šafránková, Johana ; Havlíčková, Michaela (advisor) ; Pešková, Lucie (referee)
Although the presence of peritoneal adhesions in abdominal cavity concerns a great number of patients, the topic is not sufficiently understood yet and the prevention of adhesion formation as well as the treatment of already developed adhesions represents a major issue. This thesis explores available literature on peritoneal adhesions and the possibilities of their manual treatment. This thesis describes the development of peritoneal adhesions, diagnostic options, innervation and its link to chronic pain caused by the adhesions. It also explores mechanical properties of soft tissues and a major part of the thesis considers the options of manual treatment and prevention of adhesions. The thesis also includes one case study of a patient in whom some of the described therapeutic techniques were performed and, based on a follow-up examination, objectifying questionnaire and painscale outcomes, their influence on the patient condition was assessed. Key words Peritoneal adhesions, peritoneal wound healing, peritoneal adhesions formation, manual treatment of peritoneal adhesions
