The canonization of Edward the Confessor
Kovaříková, Šárka ; Kubín, Petr (advisor) ; Pátková, Hana (referee)
The Canonization of Edward the Confessor Edward the Confessor was the last Anglo-Saxon king from the house of Wessex. He ruled in England from 1042 to 1066. He spent his younghood in exile in Normandy. During his reign England joined peace and prosperity. There was a struggle in the court between so called French side (Edward's friends from continent) and Anglo-Danish side (great Earls). The biggest question was succession after Edward, because his marriage with Edith, daughter of Godwin, Earl of Wessex, was childless. William the Conqueror claimed and won the throne after battle of Hastings in 1066. Immediately after his death, Edward was venerated among monks of Westminster Abbey. They tried to canonize them. The first attepmt in 1138 which was work of prior Osbert de Clare was unsuccessful, mostly because of uncertain situation in England. The second attempt in 1161 succeeded. It was more supported by clergy and king as well. Thank to the difficult international situation Pope was helpful to request. In 1163 Edward was ceremonially translated to a new shrine in Westminster Abbey. Canonization is legal action, after which is a person added to a list of saints and people give him a proper veneration. The history of this process goes back to early Christian times; since 12th century it is Pope who canonize...

Koronthály, Vladimír ; Kubín, Petr (advisor) ; Petráček, Tomáš (referee)
ANGLICKÁ ANOTACE Administration of the Prague Archdiocese in years 1913 - 2006 in the light of the catalogues of clergy The history of administration of the Prague Archdiocese for the 20th century, especially for the period after year 1948 lacks its summary description. As the 20th century is a period of huge changes also in the relationship between the state and the church (or between the society and the church), there might be an interesting (and yet unanswered) question, if and how the church administration has reacted to the changes of the political, economical and demographical situation in this period. Exposed study is based on the till now mostly omitted collection of sources for studying of the church administration's structure, i.e. collection of catalogues of clergy, which are conserved at the chancellery of the Prague archbishopric. The study describes the catalogues of clergy, brings basic information about the changes of the structure of the administration of the Prague Archdiocese and about the changes in the religious structure of its inhabitants, indicates some possible contexts between both topics and finally describes the initial steps of the renewal of parishes' process, initiated at the threshold of the 21st century. Key terms: Prague Archdiocese - catalogue of clergy - church...

Sandánus, Pavol ; Petráček, Tomáš (advisor) ; Kubín, Petr (referee)
Résumé HISTORY OF THE PARISH KONSKÁ UNTIL ITS DIVISION IN 2003 This thesis presents an overview of the history of the parish from its assumed foundation in 1228 until its division in 2003. The beginnings of the parish go back to the 13th century, when it was part of the parish called Rajec. After its independence, it maintained its position for not more than a century because it disappeared for a short period due to the power-political and property disputes of that time. In spite of various obstructions the parish was restored in the 14thI century. It lasted without major problems until the 16th century, when the owners of the lordship Lietava, which the parish was subject to, became Protestants. Two protestant parishes were founded: in the villages Konska and Kamenna Poruba. Due to the rule "Cuius regio, eius religio" the parish became subject to the catholic lordship Frantisek Révayov, from 1628 churches and property were catholic. During the uprising called Rakoci the protestant parish Kamenna Poruba was not renewed. However the parish Konska was restored in 1707. The latter lasted only several months, due to the period of so-called "recatholization", which was implemented in this area by Jesuits from the city of Zilina. Catholicism prevails in contemporary history of the parish Konská. It may be noted...

History of the Nusle Parish between 1903 - 1938
