Keeping linear objects of cycling infrastructure in topographical databases and digital cartography.
Růžička, Jakub ; Šára, Pavel (advisor) ; Novotná, Kateřina (referee)
The aim of this bachelor thesis is creating of a new methodology of keeping linear objects of cycling infrastructure in the ZABAGED® database. The methodology determines the way of keeping data in the database including attributes, attributes' description and the way of their assignment to appropriate lines. Objects of interest are marked cycling routes and special types of infrastructure which have been designed for cycling (e.g. bicycle trails, traffic lines reserved for cyclists or cycling corridors). Theoretical part is an overview of different types of cycling infrastructure including legislatively-bounding properties (width, marking) and an overview of the methodology of marking cycling routes. Furthermore, there is an overview of existing databases in which cycling infrastructure is already being kept and five of these are further characterised. The practical part comprises creating of a new data layer to evaluate the function of created methodology in covering real-life object's parameters. The created data layer can be found in attachment of this thesis together with its visualisation on a map. Included in the practical part there also is a description of possible problems which occurred during vectorisation and possible solutions or precautions on how to prevent them.
Comparison of map skills of students in Czechia and Slovakia
Kačo, Martin ; Hanus, Martin (advisor) ; Novotná, Kateřina (referee)
The main aim of this thesis is to analyse the extent of the acquired map skills of pupils in Slovak primary and secondary schools in three age categories (11, 15 and 18 years old); and then to compare the results with similar research conducted in the Czechia. The individual characteristics such as age, gender, and mark are taken into account whilst evaluating the results. These affected the overall performance of students in the test of their map skills. The thesis is firstly describing theoretical views of skills and then describes specific pupils' map skills. Then it characterizes curricular documents of Slovakia and compares them with curricular documents of the Czechia. Furthermore, it also concentrates on results of content analysis of map skills contained in the Slovak and Czech curricular documents, embodiments Hanus (2012). The following section specifies the didactic test of map skills and is dedicated to the analysis of respondents. The research part of the thesis has research sample which is evaluated from a number of indicators such as gender, age, grade, popularity of the subject of Geography, and the type of school attended. The practical part describes the use of a statistical model to verify the data collected. Moreover, it also interprets the results and compares the results from...
Secondary sexual traits and ageing
Novotná, Kateřina ; Tomášek, Oldřich (advisor) ; Svobodová, Jana (referee)
Sexual selection is a key evolutionary mechanism that is based on differential reproductive success among individuals. Sexual selection drives evolution of sexual dimorphism and secondary sexual traits. These traits are often of ornamental character and may function as indicators of individual quality and viability in mate-choice. Ornamental traits may signal viability in two ways: either directly, when their expression reflects body condition and ornament predicts the probability of future survival; or indirectly, if their expression is age-dependent and intense ornament express only individuals that proved the ability to survive to old age. Ornament expression may also decline in old age, however, as a result of negative effect of senescence. The aim of my thesis was to assess, whether, and which, ornaments signal individual age and survival in free-ranging vertebrates with determinate growth and whether is ornament expression affected by senescence.

SETTLING TANKS AND TAILING PONDS IN TOPOGRAPHICAL DATABASES AND DIGITAL CARTOGRAPHY Abstract The aim of bachelor thesis is to evaluate the way of classification of tailing ponds and settling tanks in topographical database ZABAGED (Czech Fundamental Base of Geographic Data). The first part introduces both phenomena themself, their division and characteristics. Next part is dedicated to detailed review of the literature regarding classification of examined features in czech and also foreign digital topographical databases. An example of representation of features in each database is included. In the practical part, thanks to obtained information, the differences of objects are explained. Furthermore, more appropriate classification of tailing ponds and settling tanks in ZABAGED database is suggested. Keywords: tailing pond, settling tank, digital topographic database, ZABAGED.
Comparison of three-point shoot trials occurence and effectivity in the aspects of FIBA rule changes in 2010 as well as in a relation with placement of the teams in Czech Women's basketball league
Novotná, Kateřina ; Velenský, Michael (advisor) ; Kaprálek, Tomáš (referee)
Topic: Comparison of three-point shoot trials occurence and effectivity in the aspects of FIBA rule changes in 2010 as well as in a relation with placement of the teams in Czech Women's basketball league Aim: The main aim of the thesis is to find out whether the following four- year-period as a result of rule changes applying to an extension of three- point line was sufficient enough to be able to adapt from the frequency and success in three-point shoot of view in the highest Czech Women's basketball league in the basic part of the Championship in between the selected teams. We take into account eight surveyed seasons in this study, where straight after the period of first four seasons following one after another there was a rule of three-point line extention established. The statistics of three-point shoots in the four seasons mentioned above, which means after establishing the rule, are the main source of data used for this survey and was accomplished according to statistical results and comparing these results. The mail goal is to create statistical analysis that would show how great impact the three-point line extention had during following four seasons of the change, which means the adaptability process applied for three- point shooting within the teams placed in the first, fourth, seventh...
Possibilities of teaching work with a map at primary and secondary schools
Lišková, Simona ; Hanus, Martin (advisor) ; Novotná, Kateřina (referee)
The theme of this work are possibilities of teaching work with a map at elementary and secondary schools. It deals with the development of pupils' map skills in the subjects of geography, biology, history and mathematics at primary and secondary schools. Map skills are often seen as a part of geographic skills and in the Czech Republic they have not been adequately investigated yet. The theoretical part deals with the definition and classification of map skills based on discussions with the literature. The work also contains analysis of Czech and American curricula according to the selected classification. Analysis of these documents summarizes the teaching map skills of pupils aged 11, 15 and 18-20. Worksheets designed for the development of pupils' map skills at the end of the first and second grade of elementary schools (in the Czech Republic - pupils aged 11 and 15) and at the end of grammar schools (pupils aged 18-20) are presented in the practical part of this work. Worksheets develop pupils' map skills according to the selected model of map skills classification. These worksheets could be used by teachers to teach the working with maps at primary and secondary schools. Keywords: Geography - Geography (as the school subject) - homeland - skill - cartography - map - a map skills - reading maps...
Interactions between proteins and humic substances during coagulation
Novotná, Kateřina ; Pivokonský, Martin (advisor) ; Janda, Václav (referee)
This diploma thesis is focused on coagulation of humic substances (HS) and BSA (Bovine Serum Albumin) protein which was chosen as a representative of proteins contained in AOM (Algal Organic Matter). Additionally, possible interactions between these compounds were also investigated. It was found that the optimal dosage of coagulant is much higher for HS compared to BSA. The best removal of both HS and BSA was reached in slightly acidic pH range and it is attributed mainly to charge neutralization and adsorption mechanisms. The maximum removal rate was 70 % for humic substances and 80 % for BSA. The results show that BSA has a positive effect on coagulation of HS (resulting in a lower coagulant demand) and vice versa while BSA was removed more efficiently than HS. The existence of interactions between BSA and humic substantces during coagulation was demonstrated in certain pH ranges and it can occur even without the presence of coagulant. These interactions are highly dependent on pH that determines charge properties (and hence reactivity) of organic matters. Finally, the comparison of BSA and cyanobacterial proteins shows that their behavior during coagulation is similar. Consequently, BSA can be used as a model compound representing AOM proteins, especially their high molecular weight fraction....
Use of hyperspectral data for detection and classification of selected anthropogenic materials
Novotná, Kateřina ; Kupková, Lucie (advisor) ; Batistová, Jana (referee)
The thesis deals with use of hyperspectral data from APEX and AISA sensors for detection and classification of anthropogenic materials in the areas of Čáslav, Rokytnice nad Jizerou and Harrachov. The main goal is to propose methodology for the detection and classification of roof materials and road surface materials based on established spectral libraries. Another goal is to evaluate applicability of spectral libraries for classification, to compare possibilities of hyperspectral data with larger and smaller spectral range and to create maps of anthropogenic materials above. The methodological approach including masks of anthropogenic materials for roads surface materials and roof materials creation, settings of four classifications algorithms (Linear Spectral Unmixing, Multiple endmember spectral mixture analysis, Spectral Angle Mapper, Spectral Information Divergence) parameters and assessment of classification results, is in the methodology part. The results are visualized and evaluated using overall accuracy and percentage of classified pixels. Finally the results are compared with existing studies and possible improvements for further research are proposed. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)

Dutch-Czech Parallel Corpus in linguistic studies and translation practice
Novotná, Kateřina ; Hrnčířová, Zdeňka (advisor) ; Pekelder, Jan (referee)
Resumé This thesis concerns the use of parallel Dutch-Czech corpus in linguistic research and translation practice. The advantages of the corpus-based approach are demonstrated on a research of formal translation equivalents of the Dutch present participle in Czech language. The thesis is divided into theoretical and practical sections. The theoretical introduction begins with the theoretical and methodological framework of the research. Next, language corpora, especially parallel corpora, and the Czech project InterCorp are presented. There is also an introduction of the grammatical category of the present participle and its possible formal translation equivalents into Czech language. In the subsequent practical section, there is a hypothesis formulated and a procedure of research based on corpus data established. The hypothesis and research should verify or refute the hypothesis. Furthermore, all translation solutions are divided into categories according to the Dutch system of sentence constituents: the substantive, adjectival, proverbial, prepositional and verb constituents, whole (subordinate) clauses and translation omissions. The categories are further divided into subcategories and described. A qualitative and quantitative analysis of the translation solutions takes place at the end of the practical...
