The Filtration Media in Water Treatment
Novotná, Aneta ; Biela, Renata (referee) ; Kučera, Tomáš (advisor)
This bachelor thesis mainly deals with filter media for treatment of drinking water, their properties, uses and try to imagine new possibilities for choosing of filter materials on the market. To better understand the use of materials in water filtration, the work deals with the local water filtration generally. These are mainly slow biological filtration and high-rate filtraion, but there is also described the possibility of further filtration through a granular material such as sand filtration pressure. Finally, Here is described also increasingly developing membrane technology. In the laboratory practical part deals with on the pressure loss on the filter, which were selected by the filter material obtained device model filtration column. These data are, in practice, an important indicator for the selection of filter material according to traffic needs.

The bachor thesis deals with a description and construction of pumps and automated pumping stations. The first part concerns the classification of pumping technology and the way of pumping machines controlling. Then, it also discusses the reduction of operational costs and an analyzes consequences of water loss in pipes, and preassure. The final part of the thesis practically analyzes an in-question location and a proof of advantages pumping of technology modernization.
The Measures Provided in Water Supply Systems in the Dry Seasons
Machač, Tomáš ; Netušil, Lukáš (referee) ; Kučera, Tomáš (advisor)
The main objective of this work is to summarize the issue of water supply during drought. In a long dry periods may occur water shortage in water resources and difficulties in providing drinking water supplies due to this situation. The first part describes the drought in terms of meteorology and there is also described the occurrence of exceptionally dry seasons in Europe and the Czech Republic. The second part is devoted to water resources and their role in water supply systems. The following section describes the current status of legislation in the Czech Republic and water companies stances on the issue of drought and the creation of appropriate measures. The last comprehensive section is devoted to design concept of concrete measures that could be implemented in the future and can reduce the impact of drought on water supply systems and whole society.
Design of Water Supply Facilities with the Support of Simulation Software
Pešout, Jakub ; Tauš, Miloslav (referee) ; Kučera, Tomáš (advisor)
The subject of the thesis is the design of water supply facilities with the support of a simulation software. The document is a summary of representative software tools that are used to design water supply sites directly or serve as supportive programs. A short summary of the origin, primary focus, availability and market price of each tool is listed in the survey. Furthermore the individual programs are divided into four groups. The section conveys the software's ability to deal with any of the following issues: - Water quality - Hydraulic analysis and simulation of hydraulic working - Design of water network - Creation of simulation models Subsequently, three chosen programs are subjected to exemplary tests, demonstrating some of the capabilities. The first program is Watpro, on which a design of a water treatment plant is drafted and a subsequent search for the sufficient dose of chemical additives is executed. The second program Epanet 2.0 calculates a model test of a water leak from a pipeline. The result is then compared with the outcome of equation calculation. The last program is Watdis, with which the same example of pipeline leakage is calculated and subsequently compared to the Epanet 2.0 result. The work's aim is to provide an overview of the seventeen selected programs and supply the information to potential users from the ranks of designers and students.
Hydraulic analysis of small water supply system
Sucháček, Tomáš ; Kučera, Tomáš (referee) ; Ručka, Jan (advisor)
This document aims on aplication of sophisticated software programs to accomplish hydraulic analysis of real water supply. In this work is stated a list and description of software enabling to accomplish static or long-term hydraulic analysis of water supply when the most world used program EPANET 2.0 is described more deeply. There is described working of a EPANET and his algorithm also there are explain principles on which EPANET is based. During the hydraulic analysis of real system was used two sophisticated software it were MikeNet and EPANET 2.0. With using these two sophisticated programs was processed hydraulic analysis of chosen water supply of small consumption area, during this analysis was studied influence of method distribution node´s demand on achieved results also was created map of velocity in water pipeline. This work is first step for continuing Master´s thesis which will be using results of hydraulic analysis for create plan of elimination sludge in water supply.
Technical audit of water tanks
Šlesinger, Jan ; Kučera, Tomáš (referee) ; Tuhovčák, Ladislav (advisor)
The bachelor thesis is aimed at modificating and improving the computer application TAWAT, used for technical audit of water tanks, followed by evaluating chosen water tanks using this application. The first part of the thesis provides a brief introduction into the issue of water tanks design and a description of the current state of the matters in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. Further, a draft of a computer application for evaluating water tanks according to the methodology prescribed by regulation of the ministry of the environment of the Slovak Republic n. 262/2010 is developed. In the practical part dealing with evaluation of water tanks, results from the particular applications are compared for chosen objects. In the final part, a sketch of basic structure of TAWAT web application is worked out.
Removal of Specific Pollution in Water Treatment
Tázlerová, Radka ; Vašalovská, Petra (referee) ; Kučera, Tomáš (advisor)
The present work deals with the specific problem of pollution in drinking water sources and potential removal of these substances in water treatment for drinking water. Attention was focused on hormones, pesticides and heavy metals. There have been reports of their properties, occurrence, impact on the environment and humans.
New trends in water treatment
Zdražilová, Alena ; Kučera, Tomáš (referee) ; Biela, Renata (advisor)
This bachelor's thesis is divided into to two parts. The first part contains an overview of new trends in water treatment. The second part shows examples of use of some mentioned type of new technologies, which can be found in practice, that is on water treatment plants.
The potential of microfiltration and ultrafiltration processes as a methods of ayays of water treatment plants
Zelený, Zdeněk ; Biela,, Renata (referee) ; Kučera, Tomáš (advisor)
This bachelor´s thesis deals with the possibilities od using membrane filtration in water treatment process intensification. The introduction presents the formativ and development of these technologies, their progressive expansion and application. Then deals with specific properties and possibilities of using microfiltration and ultrafiltration membrane modules. Part of this work is the description of the materials used for making membranes, their advantages and disadvantages. Below are the possible approaches to setting and operation of filtration technology in drinking water supply for residents. Another important point of this thesis is the description of cleaning, maintenance and any repairs or expansion of membráně modules depending on the method of operation and the type of memebrane module. Another point mentioned in this study is the description of both methods of testing the integrity of membranes, direct and indirect. Testing of memebrane integrity is considered one of the most important advantages over alternative membrane filtration water treatment methods. The final part is devoted to recent findings from on going research a concrete example of the membrane device installed in the Czech Republic.
Software for simulation of water treatment and water distribution processes
Pavliš, Jan ; Malaník,, Stanislav (referee) ; Kučera, Tomáš (advisor)
This document aims on presentation of software focused on mathematic modelling in water treatment and water distrinbution. It consists of a list and descriptions of a number of programs which use static or long-term analysis in examining hydraulics in water distribution systems and also examine water quality parameters. There are other programs also included in this thesis that solve different types of analysis or water engineering structures. Then we can find elaborate descriptions of programs ARTS and Epanet and example analysis of both too. ARTS simulated waterhammer process and Epanet analysed water age through the water distribution system of a small village. This thesis brings basic overview of available programs designated for engineers of water treatment and distribution systems and is also the first step for my future Master´s thesis in which I would like to deeply focus on one of the programs.
