Brno Skyscraper
Brabcová, Eliška ; Hybská, Bohumila (referee) ; Sedláček, Michal (advisor)
The basic idea of the design of the building itself is to create an architecturally high-quality vertical environment that will respond to the needs of the given place, e.g. in the area of offering new job opportunities, housing, services, public space, recreation, and all this in a minimal built-up area and in harmony with the immediate surroundings. Due to its shape and appearance, the building with 37 floors will be a dominant height and a focal point of the city of Brno, but it will not disturb the dominant position of Petrov and Špilberk. It is a building whose shape and layout are inspired by the classic concept of skyscrapers, but adapted to the social and economic needs of the 21st century with inserted elements of modern architecture such as a suspended facade and the use of modern building materials. The mass of the high-rise building has the shape of a cuboid and is visually divided into 4 parts by a different design of the facade. Not only analyzing the needs of the surroundings, but also the height potential influenced the choice of the building's content. It is a high-rise multi-functional building with 4 underground parking floors. Part of the proposed solution is the creation of a high-quality public space on the ground floor of the building, and its connection with the promenade along the Svratka River. On the ground floor of the building, commercial premises for rent, an entrance hall and a cafe area are proposed. These spaces are accessible to the public and form a public space that stretches from the main station. On the 1st floor - 4th floor are designed spaces for conferences, meeting rooms, anterooms and spaces for commerce. The main function of the skyscraper is the administration with conference rooms, located in the lower part from the 6th to the 23th floor. The green floor in the central part of the skyscraper 25th floor and 26th floor forms a dividing line between administration and housing. It is a so-called "green oasis" that reflects life and mature greenery on the waterfront, while also completing a public space full of greenery within one building, where people have the opportunity to meet. In the upper part of the building 27th floor - 36th floor, with views of Brno, one-story and maisonette apartments are designed. These apartments reflect the need for quality housing. They are designed in different sizes from 1+ kk to 5+ kk with sufficiently spacious layouts. The individual floor operations are separated by technical floors. In the crown itself, with the most beautiful view of the whole city, there is a sky bar, which is open to the public.
Brno City Hospital

The subject of the diploma thesis is the design of a modern and functional building of a new city hospital for the city of Brno with a capacity of 550 beds and 1500 employees. The land is limited from the northern part by a very fretted street Černovická, on the eastern side it is bordered by the river Svitava. On the southern side of the territory, it borders the existing railway line, the removal of which is expected in the future. I am counting on a possible expansion of the plot and I also have an alternative proposal for the case of expanding the hospital's capacity, see construction site situation drawing. The diploma thesis deals with the architectural study of hospital and the immediate vicinity of the building. The main idea was to use all the advantages of the area and especially the proximity of the river Svitava - the concept of "Hospital on the river". Due to the shape of the land and the character of the surrounding buildings, i choose the pavilion type of creating hospital. The total mass is divided into 4 basic blocks according to the purpose. Northern block A serves primarily as a rehabilitation wing. East wing B serves as an administrative and commercial part. Block C - maternity hospital with adjoining gynecological department and inpatient departments. And the last southern block D serves for emergencies with emergency, intervention and operating theaters and the ICU and ARO departments. In addition to the logical division, this solution also contains a philosophical idea. According to Hippocrates, the father of medicine, the human body contains four basic body juices that determine a person's temperament. This idea is closely linked to the idea of the four elements that architecture focuses on. Each of the four elements has precisely defined cannons - color, world side and human temperament. With this ideaI created a color solution for the facade and the surroundings of the hospital. My intention was to create an open and interes

The subject of the thesis is the design of a new city hospital in Brno, located in the north of the city, in the territory of the Technology Park. Due to the current epidemiological situation, which showed us the importance of quality medical care and the need to modernize both city hospitals in Brno, the idea arose to build a completely new city hospital. The diploma thesis was based on a pre-diploma project solved within the subject NGA056 Specialized studio from 2021, whose task was to design an urban concept of a new hospital complex. The area is defined by the development area according to the zoning plan, located north of the existing turntable of tram no. 12. The main access road is Purkyňova Street from the west. In the southern tip of the solved locality, the expansion of the existing depot in Medlánky is expected. The diploma thesis deals with the architectural study of the new city hospital. The solved area is unique in its inclination, to which the solution of the construction also responds. The hospital is divided into several outcrops, where its organic shape responds to the otherwise disparate local development of technology companies and research centers. The hospital offers a bed capacity of 550 beds. Parking spaces reach the number of 600 spaces. Parking is provided in the hospital building on its underground floors. This largely solves the problem of insufficient parking capacity in the given locality. The architectural study deals with the design of large hospital operations such as emergency rooms, ambulances, wards, ICUs or operating rooms. The aim of the design was to create a quality hospital complex, pleasant for staff and patients. The proposal thus responds to studies dealing with the beneficial effect of the presence of greenery on the healing process of patients. The aim was to provide this view to everyone without distinction.
Brno City Hospital

The subject of the diploma thesis is the design of a new city hospital in Brno on Černovická Street. A longitudinal flat plot on the bank of the Svitava River, located on the border of two cadastral areas, Brno-Komárov and Brno-Jih, was selected for the design. The choice of the location is determined by the necessity to provide a natural park-like environment to the hospital located in the built-up city area. The immediate vicinity of the river is the most beneficial to solving the issue as the hospital will be surrounded mainly by apartment buildings and light industry enterprises. The diploma thesis is an extension of the studio project from 2021, the subject of which was the urban design of the surroundings of the future hospital that will meet the flood control requirements in the locality next to the Svitava River. Public transport utilities, road networks, as well as pedestrian networks, were taken into account while working on the studio project. The diploma thesis deals with the architectural findings for the new construction of the city hospital and the associated parking house located along Černovická Street on the border of the plot. It is a new hospital, which will include the day-to-day operations of the emergency room, the surgical department with 10 operating theaters, the ICU and ARO departments, the maternity ward, and approximately 60 outpatient clinics in various fields of medicine. The proposed building has a total capacity of 550 beds in individual wards and about 60 beds for one-day patient care. Furthermore, the building is supplemented by commercial premises, a restaurant and a canteen for employees.

The topic of this diploma thesis is The Projection of the Building of the Municipal hospital of the city (of) Brno. This thesis is based on the knowledge gained from the course NGA056 - The specialized atelier. The main area is located in the part of Brno called Ponava, just opposite (nearby) the Lužánky park. This specific area only enables projection of a block type of a hospital that would have several floors. This plot is mainly flat having a slight scope. The area is now built-up by just one-floor ruined buildings and also by the Ice rink Lužánky. There is a link-up variety of traffic connections from all of the sides since the plot is detour. The building of the hospital is designed as a six-floor building in the shape of cuboid with large atriums inside of the object. The first and the second floors are the largest of all of the floors - covering the whole hospital floor plan. The third and the fourth floors are "jumped" from the perimeter of the building and are formed in the mass that hes shape of fingers. The fifth and the sixth floor are designed in the shape of a letter H. There is an another six-floor corner building attached to this part that is copying the street line. There is also a possibility of enlarging the hospital on the marked spare area. The object is visually designed as a cuboid mass with atriums and a corner building. The main part of the hospital is designed with a white colour and some golden horizontal panels that are actually connecting it with the corner object, where is also additionally added a 3D facade element - in a meaning of a golden alluminium sun-shields. Structurally, the building is designed as a reinforced concrete monolith, a two-way system with Deltabeam steel girders for more variable and economical wiring in ceilings.
Brno City Hospital

The subject of the diploma thesis is the architectural design of the city hospital in Brno. The work is based on a previously developed studio project from the winter semester. The subject of studio project was the design of an urban and transport concept for the selected area. The selected site is located in the wider city center on the right bank of the Svratka river in the westernmost part of the Brno-střed district in the cadastral area of Pisárky. The whole land is owned by the city. It has a markedly sloping terrain with difficult foundation conditions due to the landslide. Although it is close to the river, there is no risk of floods of any kind. The main idea of the design is a connection of the new hospital complex with the existing city structure, Anthropos park and especially the surrounding nature. The chosen shape is inspired and based on the outline of the blue star of life. It is a combination of monoblock and pavilion type, which offers flexibility, facilitates orientation and has the potential for organic growth for future development. The building is conveniently oriented, opening towards the exhibition center and the historic part of the city. From the western and southern part it is surrounded by forest, from the eastern by tree alley and the river Svratka, from the northern part by Anthropos park. The construction of the hospital should make the site more attractive. The accompanying program will include landscaping, a new café by the retention lake, sports activities, a pavilion for medicine and nature, which together with the Anthropos pavilion will complement the educational activities in the area. The aim of the design was to create a quality environment for patients and staff in a unique location on the waterfront and to provide maximum connection with the surrounding nature.

The management of Brno has been considering building a new boulevard for several years. Many studies have been prepared on the appearance of the new Brno boulevard, which will be run parallel to Koliště Street. Brno boulevard should alleviate traffic jams on the surrounding roads. The diploma thesis deals with the architectural study of the hotel and the congress hall that would become part of the emerging smart district Spitalka. The urban concept (part of the pre-diploma thesis) is the basis for the architectural study of the hotel. The area responds to the elements that characterize smart cities abroad. The design includes a large variability of public spaces and the buildings themselves. The newly built hotel is adjacent to the newly built Brno boulevard. Across the street, the hotel is connected to a public space around the cooling tower, where the surrounding buildings are used for business, commercial and entertainment functions. The brick building of the Brno heating plants was a colorful inspiration for the architectu-ral form of the design. The building itself is divided into two separate operations, part of the hotel and the congress part, which are interconnected. On the ground floor you can find the en-trance hall, which leads to the congress hall and restaurant. The corner of the building is horizontally divided into floors of different widths. The facade of the hotel on the north and south sides is divided by windows. Thanks to the shift of the top floor, a place was created for terraces that allow a view of the historic city center. The south-western side offers a view of the Svitavsky nahon, the cooling tower and Spilberk Castle. The terraces can be used by wellness visitors, hotel guests during breakfast and to visit the green roof.

This thesis deals with an architectural case study of the urban block in the Svitava industrial zone bordered by the Svitava River in the east, Ring Road in the west, Milady Horákové Street in the north and Zvonařka Street in the south. Špitálka Smart City has been designed to be in this area. The thesis is modelled on the Špitálka Smart City urban study, that was the outcome of the pre-thesis seminar in the winter term 2020/21. The urban study objective was the urban renewal of the Brno teplárny (heating plant) area and its surroundings as well as a design of a new urban boulevard. The thesis focuses on a design of a selected urban block in the Smart City Špitálka. This mixed-use development provides commercial, administrative and residential functions. The block is divided into two parts; either part consists of three sections. Two underground storeys providing parking space and space for building services are intended for the whole block. The case study further develops only the section that is labeled Coworking offering six floors for coworking spaces. On the ground floor there are spaces for a café, commerce and also the main entry to the co-working offices. A sky-office and a venue for rent are located on the seventh floor. The venue can be used for a wide range of events from smaller conferences, through corporate meetings & teambuildings to private parties. Both the sky-office and the venue have access to the rooftop terrace. The design creates a modern office building concept in the former industrial zone.
