This examination was mainly focused on the total production of municipal waste for this period, and subsequently the municipal waste production of Ivančice was compared to the town of Rosice and finally to the whole of the Czech Republic, where data was recalculated per person. Finally the recyclable waste collection data was also considered and lastly, the waste management in both cities was being investigated.
Diatoms of Acadia National Park, Maine, USA, with a detailed account on taxonomy and morphology of several remarkable species
VESELÁ, Jana
This thesis was focused on studying diatoms (Bacillariophyceae) from Acadia National Park, Maine, USA. First, the park is introduced and the preliminary study of freshwater algae, including diatoms, is presented. Extraordinary species richness of algae was discovered, especially in the group of diatoms, which is documented by a complete list of 674 diatom taxa in 92 genera encountered in the freshwater and brackish habitats within the park. Of those a considerable number of species unfortunately remained unidentified, as they did not conform to any described taxon in the available scientific literature. Therefore, several of those unnamed taxa were studied in close detail using light and scanning electron microscopes, exhaustive literature and herbaria search, and yielded description of three new species from genus Eunotia, and rediscovery of two rare and almost forgotten Surirella species.

Early Modern archaeological assemblages from Prague Castle and period written and iconographic sources
Blažková, Gabriela ; Frolík, Jan ; Žegklitzová-Veselá, Jana
The main goal of this work was to introduce Early Modern finds of ceramics and glass from Prague Castle. As a starting source for this study were used eight find collections of cesspits originating from the Prague Castle area belong to houses located along the northern and western edge of the Third Castle Courtyard. The above mentioned collections of finds represent mainly features unearthed in the years 1925-1932 or 1957. The only recently discovered cesspit represents a feature (OBJ. 1) from the House No. 34/IV on the Jiřské square. The study is attempting to answer the question, in the cooperation with archive sources, how much can the cesspit-fillings reflect social position of their users.

Molecular differentiation of sex chromosomes in ermine moths of genus \kur{ Yponomeuta}
VESELÁ, Jana
Structure of the karyotype of three species in ermine moths (Yponomeuta: Yponomeutidae, Lepidoptera) was investigated by means of several cytogenetic methods (DAPI staining, orcein staining, CGH and GISH with telomeric probe) focusing on their sex chromosomes. Additionally, the origin of the Z2 chromosome in the WZ1Z2/Z1Z1Z2Z2 sex chromosome system (specific for this family of butterflies) was tested using southern hybridization.
The algal flora of Acadia National Park, Maine
VESELÁ, Jana
This study presents freshwater and brackish algal flora of Acadia National Park, Maine, U.S.A., a small park on the coast of New England. Prior to this study, there has been no examination conducted on freshwater and brackish algae restricted to the park boundaries. Over 200 samples, from 119 localities within the park, were collected and examined using standard microscopic techniques. A total of 160 genera of algae (from 12 algal phyla) were observed in the samples, including 140 new generic records for the park. Based on the similar studies, the high number of occurring algal genera in the park indicates an exceptionally high diversity for an area of this size.
