Timber load bearing structure of a hotel building
Janči, Michal ; Šmak, Milan (referee) ; Straka, Bohumil (advisor)
The bachelor’s thesis deals with the design and assessment of the timber load bearing structure of a hotel building in Kouty nad Desnou, Jeseníky, at an altitude of 606 metres above sea level. The object has a rectangular shape with dimensions approximately 36x16m. The lower part of the structure is designed as a two-floor heavy frame and an attic. The columns are designed as swinging angles, and stiffening is solved by a set of bracings and struts. The roofing of the object is solved by purlin truss system with a triple vertical stool. The emphasis is placed on the use of commercially available timber beams. The sheathing of the structure will be solved by Fermacell gypsum boards.
The reconstruction design of timber structures of the existing building
Bartlová, Jana ; Šmak, Milan (referee) ; Straka, Bohumil (advisor)
The content of this work was to carry out construction-technical survey of timber structures of the existing building in order to design an appropriate procedure for their reconstruction. The survey showed construction in an unsatisfactory to disrepair, so further work also includes the static calculation of new structures proposed instead of the current. Timber structure in the building has form of staircase, roof and ceiling construction. Newly designed the following types of stairs and roof trusses from which the lower belts are used as ceiling beams. The new proposal also includes possible roofing, roofing options, developed one of them. The work also includes drawings, bill of materials and cost estimate staircase structure and truss. Specialization in the field of civil engineering is represented by drawings of the new truss and passport (view of current state) whole object on parcel ST.74 / 1, land Tišnov (okr.Brno-venkov), the content of which was the basis for this work.
Hangar
Čajda, Daniel ; Straka, Bohumil (referee) ; Sýkora, Karel (advisor)
This thesis is about designing and assessmenting timber structure of hangar in Brno - Medlánky. Hangar is designed for small planes at Medlanky airport. Plan view of hangar is 116 m × 64 m and hight is 10,6 m. The building is curved and building forms part of a semicircle. The main frames are irregular and formed of solid girder which statically acting as a double-jointed arches. The structure is designed from glued laminated timber, solid timber and steel connecting elements. Substructure is solved by concrete blocks and foundation strips. A spatial rigidity of the structure is provided by the sway and longitudinal bracings. Roof and peripheral walls are made by sandwich panels.
Sheets bonding and their testing
Straka, Jan ; Kandus, Bohumil (referee) ; Dvořák, Milan (advisor)
The aim of this bachelor thesis is to design selected load tests for bonded joints at specified steel sheet DC01 under laboratory conditions and to compare the strength of the degreased joints with technical alcohol and uncrushed joints. The basic methods of joining thin sheets are presented in the thesis. The following is an overview of test methods for bonded sheets according to the relevant technical standards. The results of the selected tests are the specific numerical values that have been compared with those reported by the manufacturer of the particular adhesive.
Footbridge
Blaška, Jan ; Straka, Bohumil (referee) ; Sýkora, Karel (advisor)
The subject of the final thesis is timber footbridge for pedestrians and cyclists over the Desna river in Loucna nad Desnou village. The length of the footbridge is 30 m, width 3 m and height is variable from 4 to 5 m. The footbridge is covered with roof inclination of 20° in transverse direction and the roof is arch in longitudinal direction. Roofing is metal sheet. The structure is three-dimensional truss consists of two truss connected by rafters, floor beams and by members of bracing. The 2D-truss consists of bottom chord, top arch chord and webs. There are end posts made of streel bracing frames. The material of structure is mostly glued laminated timber, then timber and steel. The steel is used for connectors and steel bracing frames.
Footbridge
Drexler, Martin ; Straka, Bohumil (referee) ; Sýkora, Karel (advisor)
This thesis deals with the design and assessment of the wooden footbridge. The structure is designed for the locality of the village Loučná nad Desnou acrros the river Desná. Span of the footbridge is 30m, and the width is 4m. The footbridge is covered with a saddle roof. The main supporting elements are two triple joint arcs with intermediate bridge deck. The bridge deck is made of two main beams and nine cross members, with always two longitudinal members in between them. Roofing is of nine cross-bindings, which are connected by purlins and top purlin. The stability of the whole structure is stiffened by the horizontal longitudinal stiffeners in the top and bottom surface and vertical longitudinal stiffener in the roof. The main load-bearing elements are made of glued laminated timber, the other elements are made of solid timber. Stiffeners are made of steel rods.
The multipurpose building in Plzeň
Perhalová, Anna ; Straka,, Bohumil (referee) ; Šmak, Milan (advisor)
The subject of this diploma thesis is design and static assessment of timber load bearing structure of multipurpose building in Plzeň. It is cupola consited of two radial curved ribs above a triangle ground plan with one oval edge. I got this shape by cutting the cupola vertically on these two triangle edges and that created two walls of the construction. The largest ground plan dimension of load bearing structure is 54,4 meters and the maximum height is +18,0 meters. The design is processed in two various drafts.
Multi-storey building
Hrycík, Martin ; Straka, Bohumil (referee) ; Sýkora, Karel (advisor)
Thesis deals with design of steel structure multi-storey office building. Specifically, it is the eight-storey steel structure of rectangular plan with dimensions of 15.4 x 54.4 m and a height of 29.2 meters. The structure is designed for the site Brno. Static calculation is solved by a combination of manual calculation and calculation using software Scia. It is designed structural arrangement, static action, load analysis, calculation of internal forces, the design of dimensions and connections solutions. Thesis includes drawing documentation. The structure is designed in a variant with a frame joints and in variant with articulated joints. Variant with articulated joints is further processed.
Load bearing structure of the hall
Žák, Ondřej ; Sýkora, Karel (referee) ; Straka, Bohumil (advisor)
Bachelor's thesis solves the design and assessment of the load bearing structure of multipurpose hall. The building is designed as a single-storey, octagonal plan, with a shed roof. Construction of the hall consists of a set of frames. The supporting structure is designed in two versions - three-hinged frames with curved corners or as two-hinged frame with a large finger joint. The three-hinged frame option is solved in detail.
TEMPERATURE MOISTURE PROCESS STUDY IN MODERN WOOD STRUCTURES
Dohnal, Jakub ; Hradil, Petr (referee) ; Straka,, Bohumil (referee) ; Pěnčík, Jan (advisor)
In building structures wood is very often used as construction material and can also be used for supplemental non-supporting structures, e.g. as wood panelling, screening elements, etc. The most common woody plant species that can found in the biotope of the Czech Republic are Norway spruce (Picea abies L.) and Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris L.). Wood as construction material is popular in architect comunity as well as this material like also investors, who prefer living in healthy and natural environments. Wooden structures are also popular with structural engineers for their good mechanical properties and low weight, which, however, depends on moisture. Wood properties vary in every natural way and need to be taken into account at the beginning of the designing process. This dissertation aims to contribute to the description of mechanical characteristics of wood during changes of moisture content in the wood structure. Various experimental tests and numerical modelling were used in the thesis in order to reach the aims. The experimental tests examined mechanical properties at different sample moisture of selected woody plant species. Subsequently, the obtained values were compared with values available in specialist and scientific literature, so that these values could subsequently be used as input values for numeric calculations. The conclusions of the dissertation will contribute to more accurate calculations and further analysis.
