Helicene-based Salt and Its Application for Organic Molecular Electronics
Žádný, Jaroslav ; Storch, Jan ; Strašák, Tomáš ; Sýkora, Jan ; Církva, Vladimír ; Krbal, M. ; Vacek, J.
In this work we have focused on the substitution of the imidazolium cation with [6]helicene. The hypothesis for the preparation of the imidazolium-helicene hybrid was based on improving the properties of helicene for surface immobilization, enhancing its solubility in more polar solvents and last but not least finding advanced applications for helicenes in the development of electronic devices. The earlier prepared 1-butyl-3-([6]helicen-2-ylmethyl)imidazolium bromide was investigated in this manner.

Synthesis of [n]Phenacenes
Jakubík, Pavel ; Církva, Vladimír ; Storch, Jan
The goal of this work was to develop a multigram scale photochemical syntesis of [n]phenacenes and their derivatives from stilbene-type precursors. Vast effort was made to examine [n]phenacenes-based organic P-type semicondutors in the past. This work is also focused on an introduction of electron-acceptor substituents (fluorine, nitrogen) into or onto phenacene skeleton. The proper choice of substitutions can lead to change in semiconductivity of [n]phenacenes so their properties could be easily modulated.

Selective Enantiomer Separation by Pertraction
Izák, Pavel ; Kačírková, Marie ; Vychodilová, Hana ; Červenková Šťastná, Lucie ; Žitka, Jan ; Brožová, Libuše ; Storch, Jan ; Randová, A. ; Hovorka, Š.
Membrane processes are not commonly used in enantiomer separation due to insufficiency explication of separation mechanisms and because the results of chiral membrane separation are not quite satisfying, especially in comparison with other separation technics, namely HPLC. A new method for selective separation of enantiomers by membrane processes taking advantage of ionic liquids is present. The supported chiral room temperature ionic liquid membrane is used for separation of enantiomers. Volatile enantiomers are separated by pervaporation and non-volatile enantiomers by pertraction.
