This thesis analyses closely Concerto for violin and orchestra A minor op. 53 by Antonín Dvořák. The Work contains a brief composer´s biography, a chapter about development of violin concerto in 19th century, but first of all it focuses on the Concerto A minor op. 53. The author mentions a complicated origin of this piece, dwells on relatively large form analysis of Concerto A minor and detailed confrontation of different interpretations by famous violinists. One of the main objectives of this work is to submit information,with which should be familiar every musician who is going to study this important piece of violin repertoire. This work can be as well useful for everyone, who is interested in Dvořák´s music.

In my diplom thesis I examine Max Reger´s relationship with the royal instrument violin. Reger dedicated many of his violin compositions to famous violin virtuosos of his time. Most of this work I put my mind to Reger´s important friendship with violin players - Adolf Busch and Henri Marteau, who had undoubtedly a great influence on his music. The final part deals with his friendship with the Czech Quartet - ensemble which also performed a lot of Reger´s chamber works.

My thesis treats the fiddling as the fundament of the Country music. I write about various styles of the fiddle music : old-time music, bluegrass, Irish & Scottish fiddling, French-Canadien style, Texas contest style, Western swing, and about the great fiddlers. I think this dissertation could be an inspiration for violinists in the Czech Republic because this genre of music is not very known there.
