Study the treatment of medical waste in CR and EU
Pilnáček, Vojtěch ; Benešová, Libuše (advisor) ; Zimová, Magdalena (referee)
Domain of medical waste includes a few sub domains. Firstly it is legislation of handling with medical waste, which is nowadays in European Union fractionalized in different laws. Then it is sub domain of technical solutions of handling with medical waste. This sub domain comprises of many options as preventing of generation, recycling, conversion and disposal of medical waste. Last domain is data about production and handling with medical waste. Area of collected data is limited on member states of European Union. The data are unfortunately difficult to access and relatively incomplete and unreliable. The thesis contains accessible information in these sub domains. Conclusions of the thesis are assessment and a few recommendations for amelioration of present state in the area.
Waste management - SUBTERRA
Pokorná, Alice ; Benešová, Libuše (advisor) ; Tonika, Jaroslav (referee)
This bachelor work is focused on the waste management of major company implementing in the field of construction work. The teoretical part is addressed in legislation dealing with issue in the Czech republic and the general issue of construction waste. In the practical section provides specific procedures especially as Subterra followed in practice their program works and on which it is implemented. I've explored waste management in practice, not only by legislation. It can be concluded that the company proceed with the implementation of their projects in accordance with the law.
Environmental behavior of companies.....
Machová, Daniela ; Polák, Miloš (advisor) ; Benešová, Libuše (referee)
This literature review summarizes a beginning and development of environmental activities and then an issue of environmental behavior of companies. It describes how companies can minimize eventual negative impacts of their work on environment using voluntary environmental activities and properly working environmental management. The next goal of the work is an assessment of one specific voluntary environmental activity, which is a project called "Green Company". This one is specialized in waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) and batteries. Nevertheless projects like this one can raise an interest of employees for environment, enhance their awareness and also help company to gain international certification like ISO 14001. Key words: company, environmental behavior, electrical and electronic equipment, ISO, EMAS
Effect of polymers on the physical properties of waterworks sludge
Svěrák, Michal ; Benešová, Libuše (advisor) ; Vašek, Petr (referee)
Water treatment sludge disposal has been an important issue for decades. The actual system of sludge treatment is still not satisfying. The whole area is mainly focused on sludge volume reduction - dewatering. Sludge dewatering efficiency is based on many factors. Most important are the quality of raw water, technology of water treatment and sludge storage system. Two laboratory methods are used for measuring sludge dewatering ratio - capillary suction time (CST) and specific resistance to filtration (SRF). As a dewatering method filtration is mostly used, but centrifugation and clarification are also popular. The latest trend in sludge dewatering is usage of polymers, which improves and supports the dewatering of sludge. Dewatered and thickened sludge can be used as a secondary material or disposed at dumps.
The impact assessment of water treatment plants on water quality in the recipient
Kunert, Michal ; Benešová, Libuše (advisor) ; Šťastná, Gabriela (referee)
Watercourses influenced by anthropogenic activity increases in recent years and streams lose their natural character. This situation is critical particularly in small streams with minimal flow rates. The present work deals with the assessment of streams affected by discharges of treated wastewater from small waste water treatment plants. The results showed that in case of average flow in the recipient none of the monitored waste water treatment plants do not negatively affect the stream. Problems can occur when snow melts, when the lower temperature of the flowing water in the wastewater treatment plants negatively affect biological cleaning processes.
Ecological evaluation of streams in protected area Křivoklátsko in Directive 2000/60/ES
Kesnerová, Lucie ; Benešová, Libuše (advisor) ; Matoušková, Milada (referee)
This thesis deals with the monitoring of water quality and aquatic sediments analysis in the protected area Křivoklátsko. Monitoring was carried out at 16 locations and there were determined 14 physico-chemical parameters . Sediment samples were collected once for the whole period at 14 locations in which was determine the content of metals. In each sediment sample there was analyzed content of selected metals. The results of analysis, water and sediment samples were evaluated according to the Directives and regulations giving limits for water and sediment. Due to the Czech Republic is a member state of the European Union, the state was also evaluated according to Water Framework Directive. Theoretical part of thesis decribes characteristics of metals, their forms in water and soils. This section also contain some informations about water framework directive 2000/60/EC as a great step in a water policy. Moreover there is a short history about development water quality in the Czech Republic. Experimental section contains standards for determining water quality, but indicating in particular the processing of sediment samples from sampling to determine concentrations. The following chapter deals with the evaluation of the results given by legislation - for water to the CSN 75 7221 and Regulation...
