The Moreška from Korčula

The piece of writing covers the subject of sword dance Moreška at Korčula. However, the sword dances of similar character over the world were not left aside. In the first place the piece of writing informs about Moreška from Korčula, its origin and development until the end of the nineties of the last century. It describes the dance such as entirety of several elements: choreography, musical aspect, actors, and costumes, trying all of them to keep in touch. The aim of writing was not only to prezent the outsider view of observes and investigators but also to show the inside view of participants of Korčula's Moreška indending to make complete analyses of this subject. In order to visualize the sword dance and make it more eye appealing for the reader, the writing was completed by adding contemporary photos.
Marie Kovářová - ethnographer of Podblanicko

This bachelor thesis deals with the personality of Marie Kovářová, ethnographic worker of Podblanicko. It describes her life between the years 1910-1972, from birth to retirement. The major emphasis is placed on the early publication and museum activities. Her biography arose from the analysis of documents stored in Kovářová's personal archive fund and available literature and was supplemented by the information obtained in a small field research. The aim was to evaluate Kovářová's role in the regional homeland work and put her personality into contemporary context of the history of ethnography.

Anežka Jiráková Folk Religion in Scandinavia Charles University in Prague, Faculty of Arts, 2011 Abstract The bachelor thesis called Folk Religion in Scandinavia with the subtitle Dwarf, Giant and Elf in Changes is focused on the development of three supernatural beings - dwarf, giant and elf. More theoretical first part is focused on the analysis of spoken and written word and its application on the scandinavian mythology. The main topic is the characterization of development and changes of dwarf, giant and elf from the earliest surviving references to the present. The emphasis on the etymology of words is seen throughout of this text. The thesis includes research conducted among four danish respondents. One of the questionnaries is included in the text, as well as the part with pictures.

Tbe second part dea1s with particular magazines Módní svět (Fashion World) and its enclosure Lada. This chapter describes their creation, their visual appearance, their ideological tendencies for its readers.

Feminism and emancipation at the threshold of the 20th century Anna Řeháková, Vlasta Pittnerová, two case studies This PhD thesis deals with feminism and women's emancipation in Prague at the threshold of the 20th century. This work is a case study, based mainly on the biographical method. It is a concrete contribution to the history of emancipation and women's issues. The aim is to contribute to understanding the development of the women's movement in the Czech region on the border of the 19th and 20th century in a particular situation. Matter of this thesis is conceived as two case studies of two little-known personalities of the women's movement, their life and work today: a teacher and writer Anna Rehakova and writer and publicist Vlasta Pittnerová. The author conducted an analysis of the archival materials, memoirs, and inhe- ritances, the sources of contemporary women's own literary press and publications of both protagonists examined, as well as specialized books on the matter. On the basis of their work author demonstrates the development process in the women's movement, views the women and their fate. A new type of man of the 19th century. Shift in gender relationships in the era of industrialization

This thesis describes an interesting phenomenon at the end of the 18th and beginning of the 19th centuries and it describes the rise of the dandy: a new type of men, whose life and selffulfillment was very aesthetic and close to artistic life. This work defines the environment where these men lived, compares them with other artistic styles in the 19th century and tries to find some similarity in the 20th century. Important part of the work is about defining the term dandy and describing it.
Vision of oak in Slavonic societies

This thesis describes an iconic relationship to trees, especially oak, in the pre-Christian culture area. On the basis of wide excerpts the thesis characterizes the situation of pagan Slavs in the context of contemporary European cultural space. It describes the worship ceremonies of the oak, healing properties attributed to the oak and oak's feature in the myths creation of Indo-European and Finno-Ugric ethnic groups. The chapter of the current relationship man - tree concerns the development of this relationship, mentions the legislative acts relating to the trees and in the conclusion characterizes the role of the crisis of relationship man - tree to the overall moral crisis of the modern society.
The oral history. (Mapping of oral history of the forcibly ejected inhabitants of Neveklov and its neighbourhoods during the 2nd World War)

Neveklov and its neighbourhoods, so- called Neveklovsko is a territory in the center of Bohemia. This area was during the 2nd world war (1939-1945) forcibly ejected by Nazis for reason to establish the parade ground for training of soldiers SS. Extent of evacuated territory was round 44 000 hectares. From villages were evicted 17 647 inhabitants and 12 184 inhabitants stayed in the displacement territory, they worked there by SS yards. The Diploma thesis is possible to be involved to the area of folklore, oral folk literature. It places emphasis on the oral history method. The thesis writes down oral history of the last witnesses of the 2nd world war from Neveklov and its neighbourhoods, that is based on the own field research. This thesis reflects history in forcibly ejected areas- Neveklov and its neighbourhoods during the 2nd world war. It reflects the current state of oral history in Neveklov and its neighbourhoods, also reflects analysis of oral history from this locality, within the meaning of confrontation and application the theories, that were earlier written by significant folklorists (Jech, Šrámková, Melicherčík, Michálek). This thesis, based on study of a wide scope of literature and sources available on the Cezch republic and from abroad, as well as on the author's own previous ethnographic research and 8 years' experience in engineering and building industry, describes the distinctive functional symbiosis of two material traditions: urban architecture based on the principals of urbanism and folk architecture based on country life, viewed from both a structural and a historical perspective. It thus provides a summary of the state of knowledge about the problem preliminary to further field research within the bounds of this thesis planned by the author beginning since 2006 till 2009, which will focus on new developments resulting from major changes in civil constructions - base schools in last three centuries.
Ethnographic entities in Notes of Marie Červinková-Riegrová

The study deals with analysis of perception and description of ethnographic entities by Marie Červinková-Riegrová, as reflected in her Notes. The basic source is completed by other sources, mainly Memorial book of Maleč and family correspondence. The first part is paid to the study of biography of Marie Červinková-Riegrová, which is a necessary framework for exploring her relation to ethnographic issues. In another part are analyzed the Notes and their potential use for the Ethnography. The next chapter deals with the concept of patriotism as the author of Notes understood. Patriotism is introduced as one of the starting points of Marie's interest of ethnographic entities. The next chapter deals with specific manifestations of folk culture, folk customs, etc., and their reflections by Marie Červinková-Riegrová. The main emphasis is placed on the folk costume description. The following part is relating to religious pilgrimages and sacred places. The last chapter analyzes folk customs and traditions followed in the Rieger family and on the farm of Maleč.
