The Issue of Financing Symphonic Orchestras in the Czech Republic
Hannsmann, Jiří ; ŠTILEC, Jiří (advisor) ; BĚLOR, Roman (referee)
Master thesis -The Issue of Financing Symphony Orchestras in the Czech Republic? is trying to present the example of 14 Czech symphony orchestras and a number of problems in financing, which they are supposed to solve. The development of professional ensembles in the past is used as a way to explain that the performing of music, which meets the contemporary aesthetic requirements, has never been self-sufficient and alike today hes been dependent on the donors. The evaluation of the operation of particular symhony orchestras is complicated because of the high variability of the basic conditions and quite frequent inaccuracies in the publicised figures. I used all information accessible to the public about financing of 14 symphony orchestras and tried to show the most distinctive differences in subsidies from their founders. In the end I wanted to show sketches of possible solutions of the permanent underfunding of professional music ensembles in the Czech Republic.

Goal of this Bachelor's Thesis is to present the theoretical minimum in the subject of strategic management that is to be applied in small artistic organizations. Background of most of the authors cited here is deliberately non-artistic. The crucial part of this thesis deals with the insight of M. Porter (theory of competitive advantage), W. Chan Kim and Reneé Mauborgne (Blue Ocean Strategy) and M. Kaiser (strategic planning in the arts). Each of the theoretical concepts is elucidated by set of real examples of cultural organizations. Special emphasis has been put on the global importance of internet and information technology. For the same reason start-ups has been included in the group of small artistic organizations as its relevant part.

Bachelor thesis Functioning of Music Interpretation Courses with Focus on International Summer Clarinet Workshop Domažlice and International Master Classes Ostrava especially concentrates on practical side of two above-mentioned interpretation and master courses. Since hungarian virtuoso Franz Liszt laid their principles, they became an important part in developement of every young music interpreter. This thesis aims to show on particular examples how are such courses started and what is required for their fluent course. Both courses have their specific approaches and goals. From the organizational point of view, easier way was chosen by Ludmila Peterková in courses in Domažlice. She invites only one foreign lecturer and focuses on young musicians. In contrast, Igor Františák, a lead organizer of Ostrava courses, has a difficult task ahead of him every year. He needs to raise funds to pay several lecturers from abroad. On the other hand, such courses draw larger attention of both older and professional musicians.

Králová, Tereza ; ŠTILEC, Jiří (advisor) ; BĚLOR, Roman (referee)
The main points of my work are parts about the economic operation of Gymnasium of Jan Neruda and The Music School of Prague and about their cooperation. First I had to introduce the historic background of the participating schools and then I could focus on my main theme Comparison of the economic operation of the Gymnasium of Jan Neruda and the Music school of Prague. The last chapter which is about the comparison of the study on the music gymnasium and music conservatories in Czech Republic is just the last curiosity about the music classes of Gymnasium of Jan Neruda. During this year the music classes of the gymnasium of Jan Neruda and the Music School of Prague changes into the new institution Gymnasium and the Music School of Prague. Even though is the Gymnasium and the Music School of Prague still rare in Czech education system we do not have any reason to expect the fall of this institution.
