This thesis deals with the life of the historian and Franciscan Jan Kapistrán Vyskočil and it includes a comprehensive biography of this significant representative of the Franciscan Order in Czechoslovakia of the twentieth century. In addition to his life description, it is possible to find the description of his journey to Italy and France. Furthermore, it includes Jan Kapistrán Vyskočil's research work and the emphasis is placed on his not so far published texts, which can be found in the archives in the Czech Republics. This work represents the first comprehensive biography of this historian.

Josef Macek - Between Repression and Indulgences

Contribution depicts the story of Josef Macek's life and his chances to dedicate himself to historical work in 1968-75, in particular after he was removed from the office of the Head of the Institute of History within the Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences for his disapproving views of the August 1968 occupation of Czechoslovakia.
