Lithium glasses exhibiting increased ionic conductivity

Fast ion-conducting solids represent interesting materials that can be used for the development of various electrochemical solid-state devices such as batteries, chemical sensors and electrochromic devices. One of the promising materials is an ion-con ting glass that could serve in these advanced devices as a solid electrolyte or electrode.

Bifunctional electrocatalysts based on a composite carbon-MnO2 and doped with various metal salts were preparedand tested as cathode materials for alkaline fuel cells.In general, the doping by transition metals (Cr,Ni)enhanced the catalytic activity and slightly lowered thecapacity for the insertion of hydrogen.

Polymer gel electrolytes based on polymethylmethacrylateand aprotic solutions of metallic salts were prepared.Their electric conductivity decreased in the series ofsalts Mg>Li.>Zn>Na. The lower mobility of smaller ionsis explained by their stronger interaction with polymernetwork present in the gel.
