Sonatas by Johann Kuhnau and their Use during Piano Lessons

This thesis deals with the life and work of Johann Kuhnau and focuses mainly on the following categories: 1. The life and work of Johann Kuhnau 2. The work for keyboard musical instruments 3. Sonatas by Johann Kuhnau 4. The use of his sonatas during piano lessons This thesis deals with a biography of Johann Kuhnau and presents his works for keyboard instruments. This is followed by a short chapter about a sonata form, its definition and progression. The third chapter is focuses on the sonatas by Johann Kuhnau, especially on his fourth collection named Biblical Sonatas which are presented here in the context of stories from the Old Testament. The final chapter focuses on the didactic and interpretive knowledge of Kuhnau's sonatas from his third and fourth collections for keyboard instruments. The aim of the work is to introduce Johann Kuhnau to reader, to point out his contribution in the field of music and to present the possibilities of working with his collections for keyboard instruments in teaching the piano at today's art schools. Johannes Brahms and his piano cycle composed between 1892-1893 (op. 116, 17, 118, 119)

This bachelor thesis is about the composer Johannes Brahms and his piano cycle compositions between 1892-1893. The scope of the thesis is entirely informational and educational, through a thorough analysis of every individual piano piece from the opus 116, 117, 118, 119. It specifically deals with the analysis of the requirements for their practice with attached short sheet music instructions. The beginning of the work is devoted to a brief biography and personality characteristics of Johannes Brahms and his abilities as a piano teacher. It also mentions his closest companions and his contemporary fellow musicians. The next section talks about the history of all the pieces including a harmonical and melodic analysis of each piece. Ultimately, the aim of this analysis is to provide some guidance for anyone that is interested to have more knowlege on the pieces, theoritically and practically speaking. At the end of this work you will find a brief conclusion on the ways and methods of learning how to study the compositions.

DOUBLE BASS PLAYING - Historical, Pedagogical and Musical Theoretical Aspects ABSTRACT This dissertation thesis focuses on historical, pedagogical and music theoretical aspects of double bass playing. The thesis collects data on double bass history regarding the structural development of this instrument and double bass bow, the development of tuning and using this musical instrument in particular centuries. Additionally, the introduction of this thesis contains information on the most significant double bass players of the past. Apart from the development of arts education in the Czech Republic, the research chapters survey the establishment of Academies of Arts in the former Czechoslovakia and later in the Czech and Slovak Republics. The chapter with the overview of Conservatories and Academies which currently provide double bass playing education include topical charts and graphs. The other research scope relates to the literature for double bass by the most important Czech double bassists/composers. The Pianist's Feeling for Harmony in Compositions from Romanticism

This thesis explores different ways in which pianist perceive harmony in compositions of the Romantic era. I write about history of harmony and about the context of the Romantic era at the beginning of the thesis. Then I write about Chopin and about his work with a motion, a sound and harmony. The rest of the work devotes to the research. I conducted qualitative research. I interviewed four pianists, with each pianist we talked about three compositions of the Romantic era. I gave scores of the Chopin's Mazurka B minor, op. 30, no. 2 to all of them, the rest of the compositions were chosen by the pianists. They had to choose two compositions, which were created by R. Schumann, S. Rachmaninoff, or F. Liszt. I ask them questions, which realize me to find how they work with the tonality, and to find if they find some characters in keys. I wanted to find how much is important the relief for the hands for them and how much they tend to make a detailed harmonic analysis. I also tried to find if the analysis is rather intuitive or conducted process for them. My bachelor thesis concerns the life of Robert Schumann and his piano cycles composed between 1845 - 1850, i. e. Album for the Young (Album für die Jugend) op. 68, Forest Scenes (Waldszenen) op. 82 and Multicolored Pages (Bunte Blätter) op. 99. The aim of this work is to put these cycles into the context of Schumann's life and his life-work, find the sources of inspiration and describe their role both from interpretational and instructive perspective.

Marian Songs of Sepekov

The Marian songs of Sepekov is the title for a handwritten Hymnal, which nobody comprehensivly examined and never publish. I discovered this manuscript when I was researching materials for my Bacherol thesis. The hymnal contains 489 czech-language pages from which I composed 43 songs with the organs accompaniment or songs in a four-part adjustment. The transcript od melodic line, next processing of melody and composition of polyphony give the readers an insight into the period of the formation of manuscript and it zooms miracles for which the manuscript was created. The historical events, which were accured in 18th century in Sepekov and were an integral part of the life of people from sepekov, are component of Marian songs. The whole Hymnal is built on devotion, supplication, prayers and the love of the pilgrims to Pana Marie from Sepekov. The pilgrimages, which they performed to this marian's place, were a seal of approval of their belief and it was culmination of their spiritual life for most of them.

Title: Béla Bartók's piano work and its use for piano pedagogy Abstract: Work is the subject of Bartók's piano works, focusing on his compositions useful for teaching purposes. Its aim is to summarize the piano piece and update, partially characterized in terms of compositional techniques used. For works with the pedagogical focus of analysis method was used track leading to the seizure of songs from a pedagogical point of view. From this perspective, it also presents the impact of teacher studies focused on the development track pupil various components of music perception and thinking "about music" and "the music". The work presented and the possibility of picking up and work on Bartók's piano-teaching works in the educational process.
